Rooster with a good attitude !

Pastel 9x12
© Nita Leger Casey sold
I named him a rooster with a good attitude! because he is one of the few I know who is very nice , I can walk in front of him and not worry about my leg being attack , he is my neighbor's rooster and he comes and visit often. Today I was sitting on my deck cleaning my pastel box when I decided to paint him,  I have painted him before in a smaller format .
I really need to get back in my routine of daily painting , but I have enjoyed the summer doing other things, Life is too short not to enjoy this beautiful month of August.

Pride boy!

miniature 2.5x3.5 acrylic on board ,(c) 2012 sold
Nita Leger Casey
Couple years ago I was painting at a farm in Maine who had a lot of chickens ,I took pictures of them and forgot about them until I was looking for something else and here he was a proud big rooster, having chickens I  am found  of them , a lot of people don't like roosters, but I must give them credit they watch their girls, will find food for them and call them never eat before they do ,watch the sky for predators, get them in the coop on time , my little rooster is busy all day ! of course he gets some perks with that! this one is for a client, but if you want one very similar as a miniature ,let me know .nlcasey@charter.net

"Proud Rooster "
oil miniature ,2,5x3,5 copyrighted 2011
Nita Leger Casey
Well we have escaped the worst of Irene with some broken branches and a broken dead tree, lots of debris ,but never lost power ,only a flicker. I feel bad for the rest of some New England towns who are flooded and have no power, weather sure can be strange at times . For the next few days I will be posting some miniatures , part of an order for a collector , he loves birds ,cats dogs etc.. so I think I will be doing a few of them. I do take orders for miniatures if you are ever interested , they are $25.00

Pierre

This was my first rooster ,I raised him from a two days old chick , not knowing he was going to be a rooster , it was supposed to be four hens, he was the cutest little thing .It was a great summer to see them matured into there own , I would paint on my picnic table and they would walk all over my paintings, they would come in the studio with the cat and the dog . By fall he had matured to a beautiful rooster and he knew it! We used to have little fights together but I still loved him as a pet. In his third winter he caught the flu and I couldn't save him , it was sad to see him go. OK , by now if you read this ,you must think I am crazy ! but i do love all animals.

George

I am on a roll with my series of roosters , well this is George ,I bought him a year and half ago at the farmer's market , the local science teacher was selling him , he had been hatch in the class room as a project , he is very handsome ,has developed an attitude ! the first six months I could hold him fine , but not now , he rules the yard and my dog Clancy , I have some clips on the camera I would love to put on You tube when he chases the dog. I don't have to worried he keeps watch on the house , all roosters seems to be this way, my last one Pierre was even worst.
