Whitney...And a Fish Tale

Somebody's hubby went salmon fishing in Oregon.

He and his buddy caught four BIG fish.

Guess who has 21 bags of delicious filets in her freezer!

Yep......That'd be me.

And this would be my fish-catchin' man
and eye-catchin' son atop Mt. Whitney.
(ID: The two super cute ones up front.)

Life is good.

Zig, Zag, Zen-ball

Zig, Zag, Zen-ball
©2013 Susan Noyes Anderson

Sometimes we zag instead of zig
or zig when we should zag.
We go small, meaning to go big;
slide home, but miss the bag.

It's hard to get your game on, right?...
when life throws inside curves.
But if you flinch instead of fight,
you'll lose the game to nerves.

Don't sweat each pitch that comes your way;
another's close behind.
We all take strikes, so save the day
by keeping that in mind.

X-cellent Athletes, X-tra Proud Grandma

Our 5-year-old grandson is getting to be an expert batter,
and he's not too shabby at manning third base, either!

Our middle-schooler (age 11) is swimming in team meets now.
Check out that breast and back stroke! Not bad, eh?

As for our granddaughter (in blue on the left), she likes to play hoops.
She is following in the footsteps of her dad and uncles!

Too cool.

Round the Bend

To climb the hill is hard indeed

but at the top, your soul is freed

to sail beyond your wildest dream

or coast into a tranquil scene.

The pace, of course, is up to you.

Go BIG, or just enjoy the view.

But either way, each journey's end

is always waiting 'round the bend

and better savored with a friend.

 =)

As you can see, my grandson and his buddy are into longboarding these days.
Don't they pursue their new hobby in beautiful surroundings?

Thanks to my talented daughter-in-law for the photos.

Joy in the City by the Bay

Today, let's pause and look around.

Across the Bay, much joy is found.

Our 49ers are Bowl-bound!

How lucky can one city be?

from winning pennants by the sea

to lighting Union Square's grand tree?

Just take a trolley to the ocean

(Pier 39 inspires devotion),

then watch a play, if that's your notion.

We've got it all...catch the ballet...

or catch a wave at Half Moon Bay...

the spot where famous surfers play.

Find views that no one can ignore,

or take a jog along the shore.

She always leaves you wanting more.

The City by the Bay.

GOOD LUCK, NINERS!

Dancing in the Streets

This photo was taken down the street from my son's house in the Sunset district of San Francisco, where everyone in town seems to be celebrating our World Series victory. What a GREAT team! Two wins in three years. No wonder we are so proud of them.

Parade on Wednesday!!!
Halloween just got even more exciting.
(And the color scheme is right, too.)

WORLD CHAMPS!

=)

PS. At such a happy time for people in the Bay area, we are mindful of so many on the other side of the country who are in jeopardy from hurricane Sandy. Please know that you are in our prayers. This storm sounds out of the ordinary, and I am hoping for the best possible outcome for everyone impacted by it.

Hollah Back!

Today we're back to normal for Saturday Centus, with a bona fide prompt and everything! (Thanks, Jenny.) I'm in a pretty big rush today because my granddaughter is being baptized, so I was glad to see a prompt (below, in red) that speaks to my very soul.

∞§∞

Hollah Back!

Are you ready for some football?
Are you ready for some fun?
Are you ready for the season
when no work at all gets done?

Then hollah back. It's touchdown time!
Just grit your teeth and punt.
Get used to couch potato husbands
yelling "Down in front!"

Say farewell now to male attention
and to emptied trash.
Don't try to catch your guy's eye...
It's on pigskin, downs, and dash.

Give up for now on well-mowed lawns
and clean garages, too.
Keep smiling, girl, the GAME is on.
What else is there to do?

And the Winner Is...

The hubby - just an inch away from a hole in one.

But hey, at least he won the tournament!

Of course, there was a small price to pay.

You've heard of the Master tourney's green jacket, right?

Well, my hubby's tournament has a jacket, too...a "special" red one.

I think you can spot it on my man (a little right of center) in the chapel.

You see, the prize comes with a penalty.

You have to wear it to church the first Sunday after winning!

Please note that the loverly patch boasts three stars,
not all of which you can see in the last picture.
These were added by Ada, one of the "proud" wives.
(The jacket itself was purchased at a thrift local store.)

;)

Ahhh, sweet victory!
