1958 Lister Jaguar

I took this photograph at Britten's chicane during the 50's Sports Car Race at the Vintage Sports Car Club's Boulogne and Hawthorn Trophies Race Meeting at Oulton Park in June 2006.
Leading is Stephen Gibson in his 1958 Lister Jaguar with Rupert Whyte in his 1958 Lotus Eleven behind him. Next is Barry Cannell in his 1956/57 Willment Climax followed by what may be Tim Llewellyn's 1956 Tojeiro Jaguar, and bringing up the rear is the 1955 Cooper T39 Bobtail of Adrian van der Kroft.

Willment-Climax

This car is listed in the programme of the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1994 as number 69 in the Classic Sports Car Race.
This is the 1956 Willment which has a 1,963cc FPF 4-cylinder inline Climax engine, and was then owned by Hugh Taylor who also had a Jaguar C-Type which he drove in this race instead of the Willment. The DVLA say that Willment currently has the registration number LSL893, and the number PUW4 is now that of a 3,442cc 1954 Jaguar.

On 14 January 2017 I showed a photograph of Hugh Taylor's Jaguar C-Type in front of the Willment at this meeting, and on 19 December 2015 I showed a photograph of the Willment at Oulton Park in 1996.

Jaguar C-Type

This car replaced the car listed in the programme of the event in the Classic Car Sports Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1994.
It's Hugh Taylor's Jaguar C-Type, and the car it replaced in that race is Hugh Taylor's Willment-Climax, which is the car behind the C-Type in this photograph. There are three other C-Types shown here - car number 12 is that of Martin Morris, which was driven by David Morris in the race; number 7 is Aubrey Finburgh's car which was piloted by Paul Grist; and the only other C-Type listed in the programme is that of Burkhard von Schenk. Next to that car is a Maserati 300S, and what looks like another 300S behind the people of the right of the photograph.
Here's Hugh Taylor in the race at Luffield corner leading the Porsche RSK of Wessel von Loringhoven, and the Cooper Bristol Bobtail of Katharina Schmidt.

Willment-Climax

This is a car that took part in the 'Ten Lap Invitation Scratch Race for 1950's Sports/Racing Cars' at the VSCC meeting at Oulton Park in August 1996.
According to the programme of the event it's a 1957 Wilment, but it's the Willment -Climax which I think dates from 1956. It was driven at Oulton Park by the owner, Hugh Taylor.
