Vintage Black Friday-Antique Tintypes

I love the look of "ancient ancestors" in any form or from any era. But I especially love the black patina of old tin types! They are timeless, even in their advanced state of age, and add such a wonderful aura to any little vignette.Sweet and chubby!
I love how this woman towers over this man!

These dudes look like miners or lumberjacks!

Such a stately fellow!

This guy is actually rather handsome~he probably had this taken for his sweetheart!

Heaven forbid you would crack a smile!

This young woman's hair was plated~and she really "filled out" her dress!

These are my contributions to Vintage Black Friday hosted by the French Cupboard!

Thanks for stopping by...hope you enjoyed your stay!!

Black Friday--All Caged Up!

I love the look of displaying things under glass, like cloches or bell jars. One of my recent finds was an old black bird cage, and I thought it would be a great variation on that "under glass" theme! It looks fabulous with my aged silver pieces and an old dresser mirror beneath!!
You can easily change up the vignettes inside~this one is my particular favorite.

This old silver tray is a perfect base too!

How about a live plant?

Or vintage clocks!

I like the look of these too!

I'm joining in the Vintage Black Friday link party with the French Cupboard!

And...Don't forget about my 100th post giveaway!! The deadline to enter is 5pm (central time) Friday, July 2nd! I will be announcing the winner sometime in the evening after 8pm! Good luck and thanks for visiting!!!

Tarnished Black!

I love the look of things that have naturally evolved from their original finish into the tarnished, darkened patina of age! I have a few pieces of old silver that I have no intention of polishing~~ I love them just the way they are! Like this sweet little cup, perhaps belonged to a child long ago.....
and the sugar bowl missing it's mate...I think more lovely blackend than shiny! I think they call this "poor man's silver"!
So much more charm with the look of everyday use!

I went to a great sale this morning and found these amazing whisks!!! A little hard to tell but they are huge, and I love their look of age!

Found all these little tin items too~~~aged to perfection!
