Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Wee Bit Irish

 Hi Everyone,

Inspired by Nancy's whimsical card last week, I decided the Wee Bit Irish Greeting would fit a fun card in that theme.

I began by stamping Michelle Monkey a few times in random spots on the card, leaving room to place my sentiment.  I colored them up, stamped in some tiny shamrocks using the Small Shamrock Group, and added a few hats that I fussy cut from the Top Hat St. Patrick's Day Greeting stamp.

All that was left for me to do, was add the greeting and adhere the panels to a green card base!

Happy early St. Patrick's Day!

January Cards

 Hi Everyone,

My first card is a copy of last week's card.  My brother-in-law has a birthday this month, and he's a huge bird fan.  I figured a penguin is a cold weather bird and I'm loving the speech bubbles as of late, so a birthday card was born.

I used the inside of the Birthday Flower Circle for the greeting along with Percy Penguin again, and I hope he likes it even though he's a guy and the card has glitter and gems ;)

Some new stamps have been released at DRS Designs and I couldn't resist pairing up the new Howdy Valentine greeting with the adorable Cowboy Snowman.  Valentine's day may be all sunshine and flowers in some places, but in my part of the world it's definitely cold and snowy!

I added some wraphia, simply because it seemed rustic, and added some heart embellishments to keep with the valentine theme.

Thanks for stopping by the blog!

Warms my Heart

 Hi Everyone,

I have a card to share with you that could be used for Christmas, New Years, or as a valentine.  How's that for versatile?

I stamped, colored and fussy cut Percy Penguin, adding a punched heart to his belly in anticipation of using the Warms My Heart Greeting, and stamping the sentiment separately let me use two die cuts for it.  I added a large die cut snowflake to balance out the little scene.

Here is a close up of the snow mound I placed Percy on.  It was simply hand cut with some glitter added for snow.

I have to say that I've been using these speech bubbles a lot ever since I got them out.  You'll probably see them again next week, so be prepared...lol!

Spooky

 Hi Everyone,

My card today was an attempt at using up some of my paper scraps.  I save extra paper and scraps in folders marked with the general name of the color and have grand plans for using them up.  That rarely happens.  Until such a time as this, when they are bursting at the seams!

Anyway, I used my circle punches in various sizes and papers in Halloween colors for the background.  The greeting is new from DRS Designs, (So Spooky It's Scary Halloween Greeting 218E) and I die cut it and added some orange ink as well.

After attaching the circles, I tied on a bit of orange ribbon before attaching the sentiment with some foam tape.  To add to the Halloween theme, I attached a left-over Leaning Ghost and a couple of die cut bats.

Thanks for visiting today!

Happy Birthday

 Hi Everyone,

A cat loving couple who are friends of mine, both had a birthday last week and this is the card I made for him.  I also made a cat card for her; however, it's currently lost in the mail. I told her I'd make her another one if it doesn't show up this week, but in my rush to get these out, I forgot to take a picture of hers.  I'm not sure I remember what it looked like...lol!  ANYWAY....

For this card, I used the Mr. Earl's Happy Birthday greeting, because it seems masculine and celebratory.  Since that took up a lot of real estate on the card front, I used my circle punches for the Cat in a Bag stamp, so that it would fit.

The background was made using the Cat Paw Background, and I added an embossed paw strip.

Inside the card I used the Cat's Meow Birthday Greeting.  I just left off the happy birthday portion since I stamped it on the front of the card.

Baby Celebration

 Hi Everyone,

My niece's baby shower was this past weekend, so this post is of the projects I made for the celebration.

They know the baby is a boy, so I colored up Jenny Giraffe in yellow and blue, adding a simple
One Line Welcome greeting.

Julianne and Dan are big travel buffs, so the party was to have a adventure theme.  I was in charge of making the favors, so I got the suitcase boxes online and added my own tags using the Let the Adventure Begin Greeting.

I displayed the favors in a vintage suitcase with this letter board sign, but I forgot to take a picture of the final set up...Of course. (Eye roll.)

Thankfully I took these along the way as I was making them.

Here is a close up of the favors.

And here they all were, waiting to be tagged.  At the bottom you can see the little chocolate globes that I filled them with.

Thanks for peeking in today and I'll be back with some more patriotic cards next week!

Happy Birthday

  Hi Everyone,

This new Mr. Earl's Happy Birthday greeting is perfect for anyone's birthday.  The big, chunky letters make it super fun to color and I love the star that dots the "i"!

That star was the inspiration for my background that I made using a star embossing folder and the Interlocking Star Background.

Who's more festive than our own Birthday Party Pig?  No one! So of course, he had to make an appearance on my card.  I did a bit of fussy cutting and added some glitter to his balloon too.

Every Bunny

  Hi Everyone,

I fully intended to make another St. Patrick's Day card this past weekend, but I came across Leonard the pig wearing his cute bunny ears, so I made an Easter card instead.

I stamped and colored up a bunch of Easter Eggs with bows and attached the panel to a piece of yellow paper that I tore along the one side.  I feel like that torn paper was a big card technique a few years ago, so why not bring it back :)

The card background was dry embossed with eggs as well, and I added the Happy Easter Everybunny Greeting on a strip.  Leonard was colored and fussy cut and added with some dimensional foam tape.

Looking at my finished card, it's hard to not want to add an embellishment of some sort.  Glitter, gems, or....?  Well, I managed to stop myself and call it done for a change.  I need to let the cute stamps speak for themselves!

Happy stamping Friends!

Hogs and Kisses

 Hi Everyone,

I'm on my way to celebrating the next big card making holiday with today's card.  I think we may be ready for it sooner rather than later, since my husband wanted to stop by the local chocolate shop this past weekend.  Not sure how I managed to resist the temptation, but I said after all the Christmas eating, we need to wait for Valentine's at least!

This "Cupig" is just a favorite stamp for making Valentines.  He's cute, easy to color and I love being able to add glitter to his little wings!  I attached him with some dimensional tape to some layered die cut circles and added the Hogs and Kisses Greeting to match.

The background was created using the Interlocking Hearts, and an embossing folder of lips to match the kisses portion of the sentiment.  A punched border and a row of gems finished it off.

If you need to get started on Valentine's cards, DRS Designs has all the stamps you need in the online store!

Happy Stamping!

From Our House

Hi Everyone,

After making this thank you card last week, I whipped up a second one, so that I wouldn't be caught without one, next time I was in need.

It's pretty self-explanatory, just an embossing folder, some circle dies and a few cute stamps!

Bitsy Bumble Bee

Happy Bee

Beehive

From Our House to Yours Greeting

All that this card needs when the time comes, is a thank you sentiment stamped inside!

Be sure to check out all of the bee themed stamps at the DRS Designs store!

Have a great day,

Birthday Bees

 Hi Everyone,

It's been a bit since I've inked up these adorable bee stamps from DRS Designs, so I thought I'd use them to make a happy birthday card.  A bee theme makes a perfect summertime card. The yellow is so bright and cheerful!

The yellow background was stamped using the Honeycomb Design stamp, and the strip in the center was made using the Polka Dot Background stamp.

I fussy cut both the Bitsy Bumble Bee and the Happy Bee and die cut the Special Birthday Wishes Greeting, adding a few gem embellishments, along with some glitter glue to finish off the bees.

I hope you're enjoying the heart of summertime!

Christmas in July

Hi Everyone,

It's that time of year...Christmas in July!  Every year at this time I vow to start my holiday cardmaking, get all excited about the theme and promptly make a card.  And that's pretty much where it ends. Womp womp. :(  Maybe if my goal was two cards, instead of fifty, maybe then I could reach it by the end of the month.  In any case, here is my first offering.

I colored up the Snowy Birdhouse, die cut and matted it.  I layered it onto a background made using the Interlocking Snow Background stamp and added a few punched mini snowflakes.

For the greeting, I used some punches for the stamped Christmas From Our House Greeting and attached it with some dimensional tape.  A bit of glitter glue finished off the snowy look of the birdhouse and branches.

Have you made any holiday cards yet this year?  Check out the Christmas stamps from DRS Designs right here.

Thanks for visiting!

Hi Everyone,

Lacking design inspiration, I looked back over my recent cards, and landed on this one here.  Instead of stamping the butterfly inside an inked-up oval, I tore some paper and masked off the top and bottom of my white panel and sponged some ink inside the center.  That gave me space to stamp the Filigree Butterfly multiple times and left me room for the Special Birthday Wishes Greeting.

I tried to do the random placing of enamel dots as embellishments, but I think they may need to be various sizes for the perfect effect.

New Friend

Hi Everyone,

Bringing home a new pet is one of the highlights in life, and I'm celebrating that milestone occasion with today's card, made with stamps from DRS Designs.

The new Let's Play Puppy is super adorable and is the perfect companion to the New Little Friend Pet Greeting, which was stamped and die cut, with a few gems added to match.  The puppy was stamped, colored and fussy cut and attached them to an embossed background of dog images.

I know Dog Bones aren't orange, but since I used them for embellishments, I colored them up because the card needed it for visual balance.

Wishing you and all the fur babies a wonderful day!

Herd it's your Birthday

Hi Everyone,

I went with one of my tried-and-true card layouts for my share on the blog today.  When I make this for a vertical card, I only use 4 circles and place the greeting at the bottom.  However, making a horizontal card let me use the Cow Cutie image from DRS Designs a couple of more times, and that let me place the Herd Birthday Greeting in the center.  Using those punches makes it a quick card too :)

I know it's hard to see in the photo, but if you're wondering about the background, it's just a paisley and flower embossing folder that I added some red, yellow and green ink to, before running it through my machine.

Thanks for peeking in today!

Birthday Wishes

Hi Everyone,

Ever since I made this birthday card using the new Fillagree Butterfly stamp, I've seen butterflies in my backyard.  It might be because I've finally planted some flowers, but I like the idea of me using this stamp being the thing that summoned them :)

I began by using the negative of an oval die cut and inking inside of it before I stamped, and heat embossed the butterfly.  I know it doesn't show in the photo, but the sparkle on the butterfly led me to add a couple of strips of gold glitter to highlight the Special Birthday Wishes Greeting.

To finish it, I embellished it with a die cut flower and big gemstone center.

Butterflies

Hi Everyone,

I'm still on a background making kick, so for this card I inked up the new Fillagree Butterfly and stamped it all over the background.  Coloring them up using my Copic markers, it created a nice backdrop for the Happiness Butterfly Greeting.  It was simply die cut and enhanced with a bit of lavender ink.

The butterfly embellishment is two die cuts with some glitter glue that was adhered only from the center, so that I could bend and shape the wings.

Be sure to stop over at DRS Designs to see all the new stamps, and to score the retiring ones before they're gone!

Happy days to you....

Cutie Cow

Hi Everyone,

I'm having fun stamping background papers recently, so here are some that match the adorable Cow Cutie stamp you've been seeing on the DRS Designs blog.

I stamped the top portion using the Camouflage Background in black ink to match the cow spots, and the Checkerboard Background in red along the bottom.  I covered up the seam with a punched border and attached the cow to a paisley dry embossed die cut.  I finished it using the new Udderly Wonderful Birthday Greeting because it's just perfect.

\

The only change I made, was putting the top portion on the front in a die cut and stamp the rest inside.

I couldn't resist stamping the Cutie Cow one more time too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Unfrogettable

Hi Everyone,

Time got away from me this past weekend, so this is a quick howdy-do, and look at these cute new Diving Frog Legs I used in the scene on today's card!  Goodness, they're adorable!

Here are the rest of the stamps used on the card:

Hot Diggity

  Hi Everyone,

As much as I like clean and simple cards, I feel like I struggle when making them.  They always look unfinished in my hand, so I add more stuff, and eventually ruin the whole thing. I feel like this is my version of a CAS card.  Patterned paper, image, sentiment, and limited embellishment in the form of twine :)

I do have a love of patterned papers, so it was fun to make one for this darling new Let's Play Puppy stamp.  I stamped him on some light brown paper and heat embossed him, before fussy cutting and adding him to a mat. He was perfect for a dog lovers' birthday, so I paired it up with the Hot Diggity Dog Birthday Greeting.

Here are the stamps I used to make the background paper:

Thanks for visiting and be sure to stop on over to the DRS Designs store for more new stamps!
