Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Congratulations

Hi Everyone,

I'm probably the last card maker on earth to make a slider card, but I guess it's never too late to try something new.  Or at least new to me :) DRS Designs is releasing some new stamps later the week, so here's I peek at one of the newbies!

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the new Let's Play Puppy (1110F) and Dog Bone, along with cutting two pieces of card stock for the grass, stamping them using the Easy Grass Background, I punched an opening in the top piece so the dog could slide back and forth, using some circle punches attached to the back of the pooch to make that happen.

I added a couple of die cut clouds to the sky and used the New Pet Congratulations Greeting as my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit all week to see lots of new stamps!

Have a great day!

Easter Blessings

Hi Everyone,

My offerings today are super simple and quick to make.  With Easter coming up, here's a card made using an embossing folder and the Lily Cross Easter Blessings stamp.  I added some chalk to the rays, but if you don't have this (Darice) embossing folder, I think something similar could be made using a ruler and a yellow marker.

And here I'm using the Simple Easter Bunny for my Easter dinner place cards. Only 6 more to go!

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its way!

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Birthday

Hi Everyone,

Herre is the last of my birthday cards for my March birthday friends. I decided to use the Fuzzy Chick for a spring themed card.

I added the hat from the Birthday Party Pig, used a flower brad for the puff on top and created the background with a few stamps:

Splatter Background

Easy Dot Background

Happy Birthday Arc

Inside I added the Favorite Easter Peep Greeting (minus the Happy Easter portion) along with a second chick.

Wishing you a happy spring season! Thanks for peeping in...

Birthday Pigs

 Hi Everyone,

Every March 12th, 22nd, 23rd, 26th and 30th important people in my life have a birthday.  They show up every year, same time same month, as birthdays do.  You would think I would be prepared and make cards ahead of time.  Nope.  It's March 8th and I've made one.  I know I still have some time, but how, HOW(!) am I not ahead of things. (She shakes her head in clear disappointment in herself)

Anyhow, these cute piggies came to my rescue when I was searching for a design. They definitely make me smile.

I stamped Leonard Pig Blowing Bubbles and then colored the background scene using a pointillism technique, just lots of dots using different blue and green markers.  I then added Leonard Pig Behind the Bubble, which was fussy cut before attaching with dimensional foam tape. I added some glossy effects to the bubbles to make them shine and added the Sending You a Smile sentiment with a flower embellishment.

Inside I stamped the pig again and added the Delightful Suprises Birthday Greeting.

DRS Designs has this sweet Sunflower Bucket image, so I made a simple card that really needs no explanation.

Well, that's one birthday card down, 4 more to go before the end of the month!

Wishing you all peace, love and happiness!

Bee Happy

Hi Everyone,

We're getting ready to show off some new stamps later this week, but until then, here is a quick card I made for a friend's birthday.

I dry embossed the background and added a stamped portion to the bottom, made by using the Honeycomb Design and Bee Trail stamps.

The punched and layered image and greeting are the top portion of the Bee Happy Birthday Greeting ,

and the second half of the greeting I stamped inside.

I finished off the inside using the Puff Circle.

Cards and Halloween

Hi Everyone,

It's been a crazy busy week, so unsure of whether I'd be able to find time to make a fall card, I thought I'd show off the anniversary card I was able to make for my hubby.
I always beat him at cards, so I came up with this pun, which I cut using my alphabet dies.
I stamped and die cut the 5 Cards stamp and created the bottom of the card using the
4 in 1 Poker Suits stamp and coloring in the hearts and diamonds.

I added a strip of gems and pearls along with a punched heart and photo corner.

For the inside I used the Happy Anniversary portion from the Love is More Precious Greeting and the
4 in 1 Poker Suits again in the corner.

However, I remembered making this Christmas card when I was in a time crunch, so I started with that simple idea and was able to squeeze in making this easy Halloween card.

I was starting with an orange base, so I added some orange water coloring to the bottom corner of my white paper, dry embossing it after it had dried.  I glued on my die cut cat and added the
Purrfect Halloween Greeting that was die cut and embellished with ink to match.

The bottom corner was blank and needed to be balanced out, so I added the Broom that had been colored and fussy cut.

If you're making fall and holiday cards, be sure to visit the DRS Designs store.  For a limited time shipping is free on purchases over $25.00!

Have a great day!

Watermelon

Hi Everyone,

I'm still celebrating summer treats with my post this week.  Last week it was lemonade, and this week it's watermelon :) It's clean and simple, suitable for a friend or a thank you card.

I created the watermelon slice using my regular graduated oval dies, and a scalloped die for the bite.

Instead of making regular seeds, I used a heart punch to help convey my love ;)

I stamped the greeting a few ants for embellishment along the bottom to finish it off.

Here are links to the stamps I used from DRS Designs:
Splatter Background (It's hard to see, but I stamped the green portion of the melon)

Thanks for visiting, hope you're day is sweet!

Bathing Beauty

Hi Everyone,

I feel like summer is in full swing, with lots of heat and sunshine in my home town, so while I don't live near an ocean, I do live close to one of the Great Lakes.  If you've never seen one of the 5 Great Lakes, this is a word of encouragement to visit.  They're almost like an ocean; they're so, so big.  And bonus...There are beaches, but no sharks :)))

This beauty could be visiting any sandy shore in her cute bathing costume, and I thought she would be perfect for a bright, summer card.  After coloring up and fussy cutting the Frog Sunbather, I attached her onto an embossed and matted frame and created the backgrounds.

I stamped the yellow paper using the 4 in 1 Seashells and 4 in 1 Ocean Designs.  On the pink strips, I chose to use the sunglasses from the 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories to create a design.  I finished it off by punching out the Summer Story Greeting and adding it in between the patterned strips.

Wishing you sunshine and smiles!

Twins

Hi Everyone,

What's better than Leonard Pig flying a kite?  Why, two Leonards of course!  He was the perfect image for an easy breezy summertime card :)

I stamped him twice and then added a couple of extra kites from the 4 in 1 In the Sky stamp.  After die cutting the image, I added some string to the two other kites to make it look like they were being flown from outside the frame.

An embossed background and some ribbon were attached to the card base and I chose the punny Missing You Pig Time Greeting to finish it off.

Check out DRS Designs for all of these stamps and so much more!

Hoping your day is a easy and breezy as this card!

Pigs and Fish

Hi Everyone,

I've used many of the new recently released stamps on this first card today.  Patriotic cards always mean summer time to me, so I hope this little card wills mother nature to send me some sunshine...It's been grim and wet in these here parts :(

I knew when I received the new Made in the USA Circle stamp, that I wanted to do more than just use it on the back of a card.  I thought Leonard the Pig Billboard would be the perfect vehicle to show it off, so I stamped, colored and fussy cut him out, piecing on hat from the 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories stamp.

I colored and fussy cut the Patriotic Heart, covering it in some white, sugary glitter.  I layered it and the pig onto a die cut and embossed rectangle, adding a patriotic star for embellishment.

Using the Stars and Stripes Border, I stamped it onto the background and added a blue strip of cardstock that I dry embossed with stars.  For the sentiment, I stamped and cut apart the
God Bless America, and adhered everything onto a Kraft colored base.

After being inspired by my teammates fishy cards over the past couple of weeks at DRS Designs, I'm finally adding mine to the blog.

I began by stamping a blue background using the Bubbles stamp, and I stamped some strands of seaweed using the Four Flower Background stamp.  I made the sandy bottom by stamping with the
Splatter Background stamp, and then tore the edges before adding it to the card.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the creatures, adding some punched branches for seaweed and the Splish Splash Greeting, minus the water droplets.

Here are the rest of the stamps used on this card:

To finish my card, I glued on some sequins to my ocean floor for a bit of shine.

Thank you so much for visiting today!

Animal Friends

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of animal themed cards to share with you today and both of them use some of the new stamps that have been recently released at DRS Designs.

On my first card the animals are accessorized for summer using the 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories.  I stamped and colored Jimbo and the Gang and then added the fussy cut sunglasses, hat and bow tie.  I attached it to a base that was stamped using the Silhouette Leaf Background and created a sentiment for it by combining a couple of greetings, Jungle Out There and Flakey Friends Winter Greeting.

While this new background stamp is named Camouflage Background, I couldn't help but see cows when I looked at it.  I'm not sure what that says about me, since I'm nowhere close to being a farm gal!  If you're of a certain age, think Ava Gabor's character on the TV show Green Acres, and that's me :)

Anyhow, I stamped the camouflage in black and created a cow using my owl punch, a die cut oval, and googly eyes.  I wasn't able to piece together a sentiment, so I created one. It took me awhile, I was working on the word moo, but it wasn't coming together for me. Then I switched to the word cow, so I hope the pun comes across as a form of " How are you?" :)

Be sure to click on over to the new releases page at DRS Designs for all of these stamps and much more!

Have a great day,
Karin

Missing You

Hi Everyone,

With Memorial Day behind us on the calender, it's the unofficial beginning of summer, so I have mini summer like scene on my card share today.

Leonard, from the new Leonard Pig Flies a Kite stamp makes an appearance here.  I stamped multiple hot air balloons from the 4 in 1 In the Sky stamp to complete the little scene.  I embossed 1/2 of my background with kites, and added some die cut clouds to the blue half to mimic the sky.

For a sentiment, I stamped the new Missing You Pig Time inside one of the frames from the Wooden Frame Collection stamp, fussy cutting it and attaching as you see here.

I needed to make a masculine graduation card, so I chose the Follow Your Dreams stamp for my main image, which I then colored, die cut and matted.

Neutral colors are always more masculine to me, so I created the background using the Grad Hat Hooray and Splatter Background stamps in black and brown ink.

Before attaching the image, I added a strip of splatter stamped cardstock that was layered on to a punched border, and wrapped with some matching twine.
Again, twine more masculine than ribbon to me :)  And since the image has a sentiment right on it, I was able to call this card done!

All of these stamps, and much more, can be found at DRS Designs!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Wedding Swans

Hi Everyone,

It had been years, literally 12 years since my husband and I attended a wedding.  Finally last summer the dry spell was broken and were invited to my cousin's wedding.  Then this past February we were invited to an engagement party, (a first for us) that turned into a surprise wedding! (Another first!)  And yes, everyone was surprised...It was so sweet :)

I couldn't help but reflect back on those two happy occasions while making this wedding card for today's share here on the blog.

I began by stamping and fussy cutting two of the Swans and stamping and die cutting the
Life Together Happiness Greeting.  Choosing to play off the colors of the swan, I picked and orange base and grey background that was stamped in Versamark and embossed with clear powder using the Splatter Background stamp. I chose a scalloped die cut frame and embossed that with flowers, and added a black die cut frame inside. Inside that I added a die cut rectangle that was sponged in colors of a sunrise and I also embossed that with some sunrays before attaching it inside.

I attached the sentiment in the center and the swans in one corner. The card needed a bit of balance, so I stamped, colored and fussy cut a few flowers from the Dogwood Branch, embellishing them with some glitter glue in the center.

And it was simple enough to carry the theme inside using the same stamps along with the

Be sure to visit DRS Designs for all of these stamps and so much more.

Thanks so much for visiting today!
