Craft Day!!!

I just dropped off Glenn at the Mitchell Canyon entrance to Mt. Diablo State Park.  There are still days when I am out driving and look around and think, "Wow... I live in a beautiful place."  It's a beautiful day out there this late afternoon, perfect temperature, and I even saw a family of wild turkeys.

Today was a craft day over at Linda's house this time.  We were missing Angie (sorry you didn't feel well) and Roxanne, whose son was taking his driver's test today.  Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!  Watch out!

Here's a future crafter!  Little Izzy is only 2 but she already loves paper, crayons, & glue sticks.  And she's VERY curious!

We didn't stay too long today so I still had time to go to the PO & Walgreen's on the way home and make a thank you card when I got home.  All the artists who were included in the Somerset Holidays magazine are making thank you cards which will be put together into one big piece.  I hope I'll have a photo of the finished piece to show you later.

I took some photos of what I made at Linda's, too.  They'll be part of my next tutorial.

Pictures for Angie

Lauren - don't look at these pictures until you open your package this week!

Here's my latest craft day idea.  I used my 2 1/2" circle punch and my 3" scalloped circle punch.  I'm going to make one for Jo & figure out how long it would be if I spelled out "Happy Thanksgiving."  It really didn't take too long -- especially since we still have everything out on the dining table from our Labor Day craftathon.

This is going in her package for the week along with some measuring cups & spoons so they can make cookies.
Bought some new orange lace, too:

A Wedding, The First Day of School, & Another Craft Day

A young lady from our church got married Saturday night and invited the brass & woodwind group to play for them.  The kids were really excited about it and have been practicing all summer.  They did a good job!  The wedding was outdoors at a winery in Napa Valley -- everything was beautiful!!!

SE, look at the colors of the wedding!

I don't know if the kids were expecting to get paid, but as you can tell the amount they did get paid really surprised them!
So today was the first day of school here in Northern California.  To celebrate we had another craft day, and I have one thing to say... "I love the Zutter!"  Look what I made.
Other than figuring out how to use the Zutter we didn't make a lot.  But we did make some punches, talk a lot, and eat a lot.
This pose is for you, Lauren:
Lunch was delicious and beautiful.  Roxanne made a salad:
Angie made chicken salad:
I was going to make a pasta salad but someone in my house ate all the pasta last night.  We also had some chips, crackers, and dips, including this one made with a sweet jalapeno jelly.
We pretty much took over Angie's breakfast nook!  I'm glad I'm friends with someone who has even more paper and punches than me.  :-)
Schroeder misses you, Lauren!
Then when I got home, look what was in my mailbox!  Aren't those beautiful colors?
Jo just got back from school and she said she liked it.  She did have some kids she knew in her classes and she really likes most of her teachers & classes.  She said Spanish was a little rough - the room was hot & the teacher hard to understand.  She loved English, though.

CSST Christmas in July is here!

It's really warm today and doesn't feel much like Christmas.  But I finally got most of my items listed in my Etsy shop.  There are a few I haven't photographed yet but I don't think they'll make it in by tomorrow.  I actually started listing last week because I knew I would be working this week & not have much time to list on Friday.  The vintage Christmas crafting supplies have been selling well.  I've already sold most of the lots I made up.  The one above was left and I just listed these:

Most are little goodies we collected through the year at estate sales and craft stores.  Then I've been making these little trim packets for those who just need a little bit.  Isn't this fabric great???  I love it!  I'll have more of these later in the year.  Gotta start packing for vacation now.

And, of course, TAGS!!!  I love tags.

We're leaving Tuesday for our family vacation in DC.  I was telling Glenn it's been a LONG time since we went on a vacation where we were staying in a hotel instead of with family or someone we know.  He's going because of a conference but he'll get a little sightseeing in.  The girls and I have THREE WHOLE DAYS of sightseeing.  Let me know if you think there's something we absolutely have to see.  Our plan is to spend a whole day in the Smithsonian museums, one day visiting all the monuments, and another going to the Library of Congress, White House, Capitol, and National Archives.  A lot, huh?  We probably won't actually go inside anywhere -- except we all really, really want to see the library!  And of course, the museums.  Anything else we missed?

Then I'll be working overtime the week after filling in for someone at work - no Tuesday off.  Tuesday, August 19 is CVHS registration.  I volunteered.  Gotta start the high school years off right!  And the 26th is Jordi's first day in high school.  Lauren will already be away at college by then.  Maybe we should celebrate with a craft day at my house?  And someone should bring their Zutter?  lol...

Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Holiday...

Yes, I'm still working on things for Christmas this afternoon, but I have photos that fit the season a little better.  :-)

I have to work tomorrow but J is going to enjoy a craft day over at our friends' house.  They have Shrinky Dinks & duct tape as their supplies.  There's no telling what they'll come up with.  I wanna do Shrinky Dinks!!!

A Busy Tuesday!

I finally brought my camera to a game.  Here's the team warming up.  Lauren is on the left.  Don't they have a nice view of the hills at their school?

They won!  Our friends came to the game to.  Lauren babysits them sometimes.

We also had craft day at Karen's house.  I worked on my Birds & Bonnets swap panels, Karen did a photo collage of her family, and Roxanne made some magnets for her son.  Missed the rest of you!  Don't have any photos of it because Jordann took the camera on her field trip to the De Young museum in the city today.  Glenn's been at the church ALL day.  I just took him & the other guys pizza since none of them have left today.  They're working on the sound system and have band rehearsal tonight.

Oh, I did these photos on the Mac and reduced them even more.  They still look good as I'm composing this post.  How do they look to you?

I'm gonna go watch Idol now.  David Cook is my favorite but I'd vote for anybody but Jason.  (Sorry, if you're a Jason fan!)

Trying again...

SE said she couldn't see the photos in my last post. I'm going to try something different. Can you see these?

Results of our Craft Day

Roxanne gave me permission to share photos of the things she started at our first craft day.  Isn't her photography beautiful?

The photo she used is from her own family!  We just couldn't get over how cute it was.  She emailed a copy to me so I may have to use it for something, too.

Today was my day off and I stopped by the thrift store between errands.  I found a silver tray and some more spoons.  Back to work tomorrow.

It started raining again today.  We need it so we're trying not to complain.  My tomatoes look like they're enjoying it.

BTW -- Happy Birthday, Grandma!  Hope you enjoyed serving on the jury for your birthday!  :-(
