Finally Fall

I have finally added some Fall decor to the cubbies!
I wanted to add some of the wonderful warm colors of Fall to the cubbies, but also trying to keep it simpler then I've done in previous years!
I love this little vignette on the shelf
I recently found this great glass jar at the thrift shop for .50
I love the ground glass stopper...I decided to fill it with some Pinecones and acorns
I added a print I picked up in Montreal several years ago
This shelf isn't complete, but I like where it's headed....the green owl is new

I found these brown glass bottles last year at the thrift shop and added some handmade pumpkins from my friend Z @ Old Grey Mare
A book to read with Tiger
My faux flower arrangement and a orange pottery piece
make a sweet vignette on the cedar chest
A beautiful apothecary jar filled with acrylic pumpkins and acorns!

I'm joining these parties
(even if I am a little late for a few of them)

Wishing you JOY,

Linda

What's Up Wednesday

I feel like I have been neglecting my blog
Spring has Sprung and along with it my allergies
Pollen count is high and causes me headaches and a general icky feeling!  I'm hoping some rain tomorrow will wash away some pollen and
restore me to a more active person!

Still I've managed to do a few things!
This Georgia blogger, Cheri, had a birthday in March but all of us gals were here and there and were not able to get together until yesterday!
Mimi's Cafe offered us a wide variety of choices
I had quiche!
Sandie, Sue, Joyce and yes that bright pink 'blob' is me!
We had a great time as always!
One of Cheri's birthday gifts!

Good News!
My cousin that was planning to go to Paris with me but had some heart troubles has found out today she does not have to have a pacemaker!
She is to continue on her meds and they seem to be controlling her AFib!
I am so happy!
So my cousin Joletta is planning on making the trip to Paris with me after all!
We are going to have so much fun!

I hope to get back into the groove of blogging soon.  I have a few thrifty finds to share this week but I need to photograph them first.
These allergies really take all my energy away!

Tiger says thank you for all the great Birthday wishes!  I can't believe he is two, where did the time go?  Here he is with his Mama and Daddy (who had a birthday on April 3rd) celebrating!

Wishing you Joy,

Linda

What's Up Wednesday

It has been awhile since I did a what's up Wednesday but I really have some things I want to share with all of you (Tiger alert)

First of all I must tell you about a new photo editing site I've been using for about a week.  I can't remember who blogged about it first (sorry) but I love it!
Check out the blog post Claudia did here with lots more info on this great photo editing site!
Try it you'll like it!

I won an awesome giveaway from Kathy at
It was a $50 gift certificate from NOVICA
This online shop has gathered artisans around the world and offers their beautiful crafts in one spot
To say I had a hard time choosing would be an understatement!  So many things to choose from but finally I made my decision and was not disappointed!

Mumbai Moonlight by Narayani
I wanted some pearl earrings and these are so lovely!  Simple and on Sterling silver hooks...I love them!

Kitty Cat Happiness by Nantana Sompamitre
This arrived so beautifully wrapped in handmade paper it was such a special gift
This hand carved lacquered box is gorgeous and oh so cute!  Made from mango wood into a Korat (Happiness) cat!
Thank you again Kathy for this wonderful giveaway!

Now for some fun Tiger Time!
He is growing like a weed and will be one on April 7th!  How this year has flown by!
He now helps with the laundry
Loading the dishwasher
Grabbing his milk from the refrigerator
(all these photos are from his parents...I must say I love that they post these all the time on Facebook...I get my Tiger fix almost daily)

I remember when this 'Tiger' was bigger then him!
They are on Spring Break and he is having his first Beach trip!  He loves it!  No fear of the ocean at all!
This child was born to swim just like his Daddy!

Thanks for joining me on What's Up Wednesday!

Hugs,
Linda

WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY

It is hard to believe that August is half over already!  Summer will soon be ending and before it gets away from me
I have some catching up to do!

Several weeks ago I tried to make a Pyrex trade with the "Queen" of Pyrex Valerie of Vonlipi's Favorites.  She had these beautiful Delphite 'Bluebelle' bowls and I fell in love with them.  I did not have any Pyrex she is looking for but she traded with me anyway for a 'future' piece I'm sure I will find for her!
I love these bowls and she included this little blue rabbit also!  Thank you my friend!  I will find you a special piece of Pyrex!

Tracy at Ms. Bake It had a give away for her 2nd Blogversary!  I was incredibly lucky to win an original painting by Jane McMullen who blogs at Artfully Graced
I love wrapped packages!
This whimsical painting of dragonflies is so much cuter then my photos show and the colors more vibrant!
I love this painting so much!
Thank you Tracy and Jane!

I will be heading to see my sweet Grandson for a few days.  I will babysit one night so they can go to the movies!
A first date since Tiger was born!
At four months old Tiger is a hard playing boy
A late night play session with Daddy
But when he finally sleeps
he is precious beyond belief!

Hugs to all,
Linda

WHATS UP WEDNESDAY 7-13-11

Once again I have been a very lucky blogger!  ZootsuitMama had a great giveaway of some vintage items and guess who was the winner???  Yep me!  I was so excited to receive the package in the mail!  Here are the wonderful and fun items packed in the box.
So many cute kitchen items
The tea bag holder is so kitschy!
My favorite item is this 1.5 qt Vintage Federal mixing bowl...I love it!
Thank you so much ZootsuitMama!

For Stephanie's Would You Buy It party
I'm sharing this interesting item
seen on a shelf in the thrift was this
 Owl
The other side
Inside....

OK so this is kinda weird looking
This is what the bottom showed me and that the original price was $75
HUH?  Well for 60 cents I took it home
I then did a little Google search and found out this was carved in 1999 and was the 3rd issue in a series called Romance Annual
Only thing was...there was a top missing...oh no.  The next day I returned to the thrift in hopes of finding the other piece....and I did!
Another 60 cents
Here is the piece put together
TENDER IS THE NIGHT
" This piece represents the cerebral nature of love.  A wise owl carries in his beak a red rose for his mate who gazes at him wistfully.  The interior portrays an enlightened owl in Zen meditation"
from the Harmony Kingdom website
The back side of the piece
So would you have bought this?
I must say it is not my style at all but I was intrigued by the details and carvings on this piece.  I has a few chips but does not take away from its beauty.  I am looking to pass this on to someone who would appreciate it.  Contact me if interested.

 Happy Wednesday!
Linda

WHATS UP WEDNESDAY 7-6-11

Here we are in July!  I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  I had a nice time with family and friends!

Update on my SIL Blake
He went to the Dr on Tue and they removed his cast and said he is healing well.  I will spare you that photo  :)
but here is his x-ray!
We can call him metal man!
They put him in an air cast so he will be able to get around much better now.  He and Sara went back to camp and are able to do some work there.  My sweet Tiger loves being outside and all the kids at camp.  On Sunday July 3rd Blake made this post...
My Great Grandma said she was ready to go last year. She stuck around to see her 94th birthday and the birth of two more great great grandsons. Her request to move on along was met this morning. I know she was happy and content with life and death. You will be missed Great Grandma! Such a neat and super woman for so many generations
Please keep Blake and his family in your prayers as they celebrate the life of this wonderful woman.

A few weeks ago Mr ALC and I stopped in this little thrift shop....they were having a half price day...Yippee!   I found this and put it in and out of my cart several times
It is an old jewelry box.  I don't need it
and could not decide if I should get it.
Would you?

The inside was in pretty good condition
It even has the 'vintage' smell
so???  well of course I got it
I decided I could use it to display some of my vintage jewelry.
It was marked $1.97 so at half price
$1....Score!
Maybe I will find some more vintage items for it soon!

I'm joining these fun parties today
Rednesday at It's A Very Cherry World
Would You Buy It Wednesday
 with Stephanie at Junker Newbie
DON'T FORGET MY

You have until July 10th to enter

and I've added this to the giveaway
It's funny and cute and I know you will enjoy it!
 Thanks for stopping by!
