Winter Walk -- in Tribute at The Paper Shelter

Greetings, my crafty friends!  Thank you for visiting my blog today.  The entire The Paper Shelter team is having a two-week challenge in memory of Veronica, the former owner of The Paper Shelter. Se died a short time ago.  She loved the store, the blog, and seeing everyone's creations with her and her husband, Pedro's images.

I used one of my favorite images from her to create a card for today's tribute.  I suspect Veronica was just as much of a dog lover as I am, because she has soooo many darling images with dogs in them.  Today, I created a card using Winter Walk.  Just looking at this image makes me smile!

I colored Winter Walk with a combination of Copic and Olo markers.  I used a set of mini slim dies from Spellbinders to cut out the Winter Walk image and mat it. The designer paper is the background is from Crafter's Companion.  It's part of a 12x12 Christmas pad I've had for quite a while.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and the gems are from Taylored Expressions.

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks paying tribute to our beloved Veronica. Also, please visit the blogs in this hop to see all the inspiration and give them some love.

The above graphic explains the prizes you can win from TPS challenges. Thanks again for visiting.

Winter Pups-- a New Release for All Dressed Up Stamps

Hello, my craft friends!  It's almost Christmas.  Are you ready?

Today the Dressy Girls are featuring this month's new releases at All Dressed Up Stamps.  You'll find inspiration both in the ADU Facebook Group, and on the challenge blog

As you may know, or suspect from the name of my blog, I am a huge dog lover.  When Wendy released Winter Pups, I was absolutely thrilled, and knew I had to create with it.

Here's my interpretation of Winter Pups:

I colored Winter Pups with Copic markers.  It was so fun to color! Then I die cut the image with a Spellbinders dotted rectangle die.  The papers are from Crafter's Companion. The snowflake embellishments are from Hero Arts.

I hope you check out the rest of the inspiration, and don't forget that All Dressed Up Stamps has 2 challenges each month.  I'd love to see what you create!

Paw-sitively Grateful -- for Ching-Chou Kuik

It's Tuesday, and this is my day to post on the Ching-Chou Kuik Inspiration and Challenge Blog. There's also a challenge going on with the theme of Remembrance/Thanksgiving/Thinking of You/ or Thank You.  I hope you join us!  You'll find lots of great images in the GJZCCK Etsy Shop!

For today's card, I used an image that was given to everyone that participated in the October Facebook Challenge. It was in honor of our 7th Anniversary.   I hadn't had a chance to color it up yet, and I so loved it!  Here is the greyscale image, The Cutie...

The Cutie is colored with Copic markers, a couple of Spectrum Noir markers, and a white gel pen.  I used an edger die from Spellbinders, the sentiment is on dies from Tonic Studios, and that paw print is a die from Kat Scrappiness.

The design team was given the additional challenge of making a shabby chic or distressed card, so I distressed the edges of the designer paper. It's from We Are 3 Digital Shop. It's one of the Inky Textures papers

I hope you visit the CCK Inspiration Blog often to see what the other talented designers have created. For another challenge, and more inspiration, there's the CCK Facebook group.

This is We Are Santa & Rudolph, colored with Copic markers.  I inked around the edges with a couple colors of Distress Inks.  I used 2 different sizes of Spellbinder dies to cut out We Are Santa & Rudolph and back it.

I computer generated the sentiment and cut it out with a die from Crafter's Companion. The designer papers and ornament die are also from Crafter's Companion.

Nautical Slimline -- for The Outlawz Paper ala Mode

It's Saturday, and it's time for a new challenge at The Outlawz.  Saturday means it's the Paper ala Mode challenge!  Those are sponsored by We Are 3 Digital Shop, where Bonnie Kohane awards a $6 gift certificate to her awesome store.  Woot!  Our theme this challenge is nautical! It will run for the next 2 weeks. I love a good nautical card!

I'm smitten with slimline cards, creating them whenever I can, so I jumped at the chance to create one for today's challenge:

I used a number of products from the We Are 3 Digital Store for this card.  The designer papers are from the Nautical collection.  The Oceans of Love sentiment is one of the Mermaid Wishes Sentiments.  It is printed on a Nautical printable

All the dies are from Crafter's Companion.  The ephemera is from Spellbinders.  Combine all this together, and you have this slimline card.

I hope you join us the next 2 weeks at Paper ala Mode for our Nautical themed challenge!  We'd love to have you!

Honeysuckle Thanks -- for Lavinia World

Woohoo, it's Thursday!  Wohoo hoo, it's time for the 2nd challenge at the Lavinia World Challenge Blog!  I am having sooooo much fun creating with Lavinia World Stamps and papers!

I used one of the many floral stamps to create today's card:

This card uses the beautiful Honeysuckle clear stamp.  The stamp is just about 4 inches tall, but almost 2 inches wide.  I stamped it using Memento ink, then colored it with Copic markers.  I foiled around the outside edges of it with a Spellbinders foil stamp to add some sparkle to the card. The sentiment is a die from Impression Obsession, found in the Dies R Us Store.

Papers on this card are from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are 2 of the papers in the Peonies Ballet Collection.  The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Please -- 'Like' Lavinia World on Facebook
Follow Lavinia World on Instagram, and don't forget to include #laviniaworldstore on your projects, and tag us at @laviniaworldstore so we can be sure to see and comment on your Lavinia World projects!

The Lavinia World Challenges run for 2 weeks.  Entries are Anything Goes, but must use real stamps (no digital images allowed).  Lavinia Stamps are not required, but if you use a Lavinia Stamps in your entry, your chances of winning are doubled!!   The winner of the challenge gets an awesome badge to display, and a $15 gift certificate to the Lavinia World Store.  Oh yeah!  Ready, set, get creating!

Colorful Bird Hello -- Catch the Bug Oldie but Goodie

Hello, and happy Thursday!  It's almost Friday, which is almost the weekend!  Hang in there, it'll be here before you know it!

It's Oldie but Goodie time on the Catch the Bug Blog, and I found a delightful spring bird I wanted to color up for today's post.

I live in a very diverse environment.  Within a 3 block area there is a lake, wetlands, woods, and a meadow.  This makes for a great variety of birdlife, especially during spring and fall migration.  It's not at all uncommon for me to spot Red Breasted Nuthatches, Common Loons, Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Downy Woodpeckers, Tufted Titmice, Sandhill Cranes, Wood Ducks, Osprey, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, and any number of other birds great and small all within my 3 block area at any given time.  I love to go for walks with my dog Winter and see what we will see!

I have to tell you, I have never seen a bird that looks exactly like this one, but you just never know!

This Bugaboo Stamps digi is called, appropriately, Spring Bird.  I colored Spring Bird with Copic markers, then used a Spellbinders foil and cut set to hot foil the card and cut out the bird.  There's something very elegant about foiling, isn't there?  I wanted to keep the rest of the card simple so the foiling really showed up.

That's it for me and my Oldie but Goodie post.  Check out what the other talented designers have created at Catch the Bug Blog

Believe In Your Dreams -- Guest Designing at The Outlawz

Happy Thursday, everyone!   The Outlawz is one of my favorite places to play.  They have challenges every single day, and I enter as often as I can.  I particularly like their Twisted Thursday Challenges, as I can try for the twist, or just go with the Anything Goes Theme.  So, when given a chance to guest design, I just have to say 'yes'!!  This is my first time guest designing for The Outlawz all year, so I better get busy!

The optional theme at Twisted Thursday for the next 2 weeks is "Hip to Be Square" (use 3 squares).  The sponsor this month is LeAnn's World

This is Benjamin, colored with Copic markers.  Spunky lil' fella, isn't he?  After coloring Benjamin, I set out to construct my card, following the Outlawz Twisted Thursday theme of using 3 squares. I found 3 square dies by Spellbinders that I thought would fit nicely on my card, and next, it was on to finding the right papers.

Papers are this card are a New Release from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  These are papers from the Moon Desert Collection.  I thought they worked well for a masculine card.

The sentiment is an acrylic stamp from Technique Tuesday.  The buttons, from my stash, seemed to stay with the masculine theme of the card.

"Hip to be Square" -- the optional theme at Twisted Thursday -- join in on the fun!  Plus, a big thanks to the Outlawz Twisted Thursday team for having me today!

Sympathy Rose - Color Challenge for Bugaboo Stamps

It's Saturday, and it's time for a new challenge at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog. Today, we start a color challenge.  They are always a bit intimidating for me.  I love a sketch challenge -- I find they are a great stepping stone for my creativity.  A color challenge, though, stifles me.  I spend way too much time wondering if I'm staying within the guidelines, and not enough time enjoying the creative process.  So, perhaps color challenges are good for me?

I recently needed a sympathy card, so I decided today's theme would work well for making the card.  Using Rose Circle from the Mini Rose Set and the March Color Challenge (see below), I created this:

I colored the Rose Circle with Copic markers, then use a couple of circle dies to cut it out and back it.

Here's the color challenge mood board I used:

I probably spent as long looking for the right papers as I did coloring up the Rose Circle.  I found this flower paper in my stash.  I've had it forever, and I don't know where I got it.  I think it's part of a card kit from Spellbinders (both patterned papers).  The sentiment is from Craftin' Desert Divas.  The gold shimmer trim is from Close To My Heart.

I hope you can join us this next 2 weeks for our color challenge at Catch the Bug.   I bet you are way better at these than I am!  I'd love to see your creations so I can better learn the process!

So Grateful -- for Dies R Us

Greetings, fellow paper crafters!  Today is my first post on the Dies R Us inspiration blog!  Woohoo!  I'm so excited!

I love shaped cards!  If you're a regular visitor to my blog you'll see many shaped cards. You can use many different dies to make shaped cards.  Follow this post, and I'll show you how.

First, the finished card, then how I did it --

Here's  the supplies I used (more details later):

I created the card base using the largest Spellbinders die.  Pictured below is how I did it.
Notice that I left one edge of the die hanging off the paper, which is already folded in 2, like the card base.  I like to use washi tape to hold my dies in place.  You can easily remove it after you run it through your die cutting machine.

Here's the card base after it's cut out.  I cut out another piece of paper using this same die and tape it over the top, hiding the flat edge on the left.

Here's the card again!  A fun shape, easily constructed.

Supplies found in the Dies R Us Store:

Don't forget to come join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store. First Christmas card of 2018! For the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up

It's January 1st (Happy, scrappy New Year, crafty friends!) and it's time for a new challenge at the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up.  This month's alternate theme is "frosty".   Our 2 sponsors this month are Scribbles Designs and Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.

Using Snowman Sign from Scribbles Designs and A Touch of Frost papers from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles, I created this for my first Christmas Card of 2018:

I computer generated the sentiment, colored the snowman with Copic markers, then fussy cut it out.  The snowflakes are dies from Paper Wishes, cut out with gold foil paper from Spellbinders.  Adorable snowman, isn't he?  It's -18 degrees fahrenheit here in NW WI this afternoon, so he stands no chance of melting for a long time to come!!!!

Please link up with us at the 12 Months of Christmas Link Up.  Follow the optional Frosty theme to be eligible for the prize from Scribbles Designs.  Enter 2 Christmas cards to be eligible for this month's paper from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.  Woop!  And Happy New Year!

A Touch of Gold -- for QKR Stampede

I'd like to take a moment to thank all the Veterans that have served our country as you are honored officially today, and again tomorrow, on the traditional day.  This country owes our freedom to you!

It's Friday, and time for another challenge at QKR Stampede Challenge Blog. This week's optional theme is "A Touch of Gold", or you can enter anything you'd like.

I used QKR Stampede's Acorn Accent digi on this (Q-digi19403), and the sentiment is "Large Thanks" (ES-digi4402).  The papers, also digital, are by BoBunny, and were purchased at Snap Click Supply.  The touch of gold is added with a piece of gold foil paper cut out with a Paper Wishes die.  The crinkle ribbon is from my stash.

I hope you can join us this week at QKR Stampede for our optional "A Touch of Gold" challenge.  We have great digi prizes you can win, and I'd love to see what you make!!

So Sweet! -- for Crafty Sentiments Designs

Happy Tuesday, everyone.  It's time for a new challenge at Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog, and this is also New Release week, with this being the start of the New Releases!  You'll find great inspiration at Crafty Sentiments Inspirations today-Friday, with the New Releases for sale at Crafty Sentiments Designs starting Saturday, July 8.

This week's challenge at Crafty Sentiments Blog is a favorite -- Anything Goes! I used the New Release rubber stamp, Ice Pops to create this:

I colored 'So Sweet' rubber stamp with Copic markers, then used 2 dies from Top Dog dies to cut it out and layer it on the card base.  I found the popsicle paper -- it's digital -- at Pixel Scrapper.  The sentiments is from Spellbinders.   The card stock and glimmer trim are from Close To My Heart.

I hope you check out all the new releases this week, and join in on our Anything Goes challenge at Crafty Sentiments Challenge Blog!

I Love, Love, Love You -- for Path of Positivity

It's time for some mid-month inspiration over on the Path of Positivity Challenge blog, and we have a new sponsor that was so fun to work with!  For this challenge, I used an image from Mari Digis.  The Path of Positivity challenge theme this month is: An Expression of Love.  It is optional.  Link up any inspirational project you'd like.

This digi is called Casal Kiss.  I used this as my husband's Valentine's Day card.  He wondered if we ever looked that young? We are both bald now (me from chemo, he from aging), so we certainly have changed!

I colored Casal Kiss with Copic markers, then used dies from Top Dog dies to complete the card.  The sentiment is from Spellbinders.  The bow, not used on an earlier project, was sitting on my desk.

I hope you join us at the Path of Positivity Challenge blog this month -- there's still time as our challenge runs until March 5.  Use the optional An Expression of Love theme to be eligible for the prizes from this month's sponsors.

A Stationery Stash -- for The Cutting Cafe

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I'm spending the morning on the organ bench, then going for a walk with my BFF, and maybe getting a little crafting done.  Wow, that wounds like a great Sunday, doesn't it?

I'm posting today for the Cutting Cafe.  This week, all the design team is working with a new set in the store called 'Let's Write a Letter' Printable Set

Warning, there are a lot of pictures with this post!

I have a co-worker who loves all things paper.  She calls herself a paper whore. When we were assigned this set, I knew I had to make something for Dorothy!

Here's Dorothy's Stationery Stash...

I used the SVG file that comes with the set to create the box.

Inside...

There are many printable designs in this set.  Here are the designs I printed for Dorothy.  I printed at least 8 pages of each design.

Stationery for a variety of occasions, don't you think?

I'll leave you with a close up of the outside of the box:

Dear Dorothy,

I know you like paper, and I know you like to write letters, so I made you your own, unique, stationery stash.  Enjoy!

Hugs, Julie

Everything pictured is from the 'Let's Write a Letter' Printable Set, found at The Cutting Cafe.

Visit The Cutting Cafe blog on September 21 to see what the other design team members created with this set.  Leave a comment, and you could win 3 sets of your choice from the store. Check out the Cutting Cafe - Be Inspired Facebook Group, too, for more inspiration, friendship, and fun!

Today, I introduce you to rubber stamp, Isobel - Flower Pot...

I colored Isobel - Flower Pot with Copic markers.  The card base was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo with a file I found in the Silhouette Design Store.  I used dies from Top Dog Dies to cut out the colored Isobel - Flower Pot image and to back it.  Designer papers are from MHKDesigns digital papers.  The mulberry flowers are from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The sentiment is from Spellbinders Paper Arts.   The card stock and glimmer trim are from Close To My Heart.

I used Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils to color Oddella Heart, then used a Spellbinders die to cut her out.  The heart shaped trio card is an SVG file from The Cutting Cafe.
