CAS-ual Fridays, Embossing

Hello friends! This morning I have a card to share for CAS-ual Fridays. The challenge this week is to create a clean and simple project using embossing: dry or heat.

The winner of this week's challenge will win a $25 gift certificate to SimonSaysStamp. They will also win the spot of guest designer next month.

For my card, I created embossed scoring lines using my Martha Stewart score board. I used the triangle piece that comes with it to help create the angle. Then I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from PTI's Birthday Basics. I think I use this stamp the most in this set. It is hard to see the score lines in this photo. You won't believe how many I had to take to finally get the right angle for these to show up and they are still somewhat hard to see.

After stamping many rainbows of sentiments on the cardfront, I trimmed it out using my long rectangle nestability. Then I added some banners and another piece of white cardstock that was impressed using my PTI Linen/canvas IP. The cardbase was impressed using the other side. The sketch for my card is the very first sketch from Retro Sketches. Don't forget that you have until noon on Thursday to link up and play!

I am also entering this card into the Moxie Fab challenge: The Focal Point.

And more splatter...

So, as I mentioned in my previous post, I said I would try my hand at splattering with acrylic paint and a brush. Since I had Friday off from work and was at home with my daughter, we tried out this technique together. We had a blast!!! I showed her how to hold the brush and tap it and she did a fabulous job! We used the same red paint for our splatter and I thought it was a perfect opportunity for her to make a Father's Day card. Since her favorite colors are pink and purple, what else can you expect, right? She cranked the Cuttlebug and I stitched down her hearts. She placed her star, which she die cut also and stamped her sentiment.

Here is Leah's card

I created my splatter card to play along again with Moxie Fab's  splatter challenge. The color scheme also plays along with this week's fabulous Play Date Cafe Challenge. It's been a while since I have particiapted in this challenge, too. I know that my Rose is a little more red, but I really like how it turned out.

My latest PTI goodies arrived on my doorstep yesterday. I loved greeting the UPS carrier at my doorstep in the rain. My eagerness to receive my package brightened his day. Love that! I was finally able to order the heart border die. ***swoon*** I just love adding the stitching detail to it. I was also able to order Soft Stone ink. Can I just say I am in love?! It is so subtle and pretty and happens to be a part of this challenge. I also dusted off my Creative Memories hexagon punch. They seem to be all the rage now. It's too bad I only have 2 sizes.

I had so much fun creating this card alongside my daughter. She is 4 1/2 years old, as she often tells people. I can't believe she will be turning 5 at the end of August. sigh. Thanks for looking!

Tuesday Trigger: Watercolor butterflies

Happy Hump Day! I have a super quick card to share with you that I whipped up for this week's Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab. The challenge is watercolor butterlies. Here is our inspiration photo.
Honestly, my first thought was to break out my 4 year old daughter's crayola watercolors and that is exactly what I did. I cannot remember that last time I even used these paints. I do not own any watercolor pens for stamping and did not even think about using my distress inks and misting with water until after I finished my card. It is my typical CAS card which took no time to create. Love that!

Simple elegance

Today's card I am submitting for 2 challenges: Moxie Fab's Tuesday trigger and CAS-ual Fridays: Easy as 1-2-3.

The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to create a card with: a pattern, an image, and a sentiment. I chose PTI's Background Basics: Diamonds for my pattern, a butterfly image and my thank-you sentiment. I love the soft colors and the simplicity of this card.

Cure for the Winter Blues

It is late, so it's going to be quick. Tonight's card I am submitting for Moxie Fab's Cure for the Winter Blues Challenge. Fabulous inspiration photos and cards. I based my card off of these curtain panels by Anthropologie.
I have wanted to ink up my Guidlines II by PTI for quite a while. It is dear to my heart since it was the second stamp set I ever bought. I had hoped to use my stamped image for the entire front panel, but the CAS gal in me snuck in and I ended up trimming it. Now it actually appears like a single curtain panel. Funny how that happens.

Stay tuned to the blog, because Friday I make my debut at the guest designer over at CAS-ual Fridays. My tummy has butterflies...
