Scholarship Thank You...

Hello all my friends!

Before the holidays my daughter received a scholarship from the Chapter IP, P.E.O. Sisterhood given in honor of Lori Swanson.  We were thrilled that they chose Chelsea.  After 2 1/2 years in college she finally got one of the scholarships that she applied for, yay!  :)    This will be so helpful to us as the costs of the UC system has gone up dramatically since she started her freshman year.  Ladies, we can not thank you enough.

Here is a card that I made for Chelsea to send them.  The stamp set is from a special gift I received from the wonderful Stephanie at The Stamps of Life for my 1 year anniversary of being a club member.  She is so generous.  I love this set so much.  Thanks again Stephanie!

Giant Star...

Hello Crafty Friends!

Nothing from me today, but thought I would share a Giant Star that my daughter made with the kids that she babysits.  It really is GIANT!  LOL  About 2 feet wide.

Tomorrow I will be finishing off my baking and wrapping a few more presents, what are you all up to?

Is it called re-purposing????

Hello Crafty Friends!

It has been a while!  I have a tag to share. :)  I made this out of a kit that had a total different purpose in mind.  My GREAT crafty friend Ann (who I miss something terrible since she rejoined the work-force) had given me these kits that she found when she cleaned her craft room last year.  This particular set was for 4x6 pictures.  There were no directions and I wasn't quite sure what the original intentions were but I loved the paper colors and they matched my pattern papers so I just rolled with it.  I made gift tags!  Soooo easy.  Now they have a purpose!

Just thought I would share some pics of our elf Buddy too!

Victorian Christmas in Nevada City, CA...

Hello Crafty Friends!

I had a very productive and busy weekend.  :)  Christmas tree is decorated (ok, well, truth be told...it has a few ornaments on it.  My ornaments are too heavy for the branches so we had to resort to our lighter ones, which there are not very many of...oops!)  It is still beautiful regardless.  <3

Saturday was a all day baking day.  Whew, it was hot in that kitchen...hehe.  As soon as my dad get's me the pics I will blog about that later.

Sunday was a beautiful, if chilly, day and a whole bunch of us caravan-ed up to Nevada City, CA for their annual Victorian Christmas.  We have driven by Nevada City numerous times on our Harley trips, but have never stopped in to visit the beautiful little town.  Here are a few pics of our day...

Before the vendors set up...
about 1 1/2 hours after vendors set up.
And this was only one of the streets.

I love these street lamps.
Caroloers...and my hubby (upper left)  holding up the lamp post.  hehe

Beautiful town, right?  I could have looked at these old buildings all day.  Another time...you can see how crowded it get's there.

Until next time (when my dad get's me those baking pics),

Our Christmas tree (part 1)...

Hello Crafty Friends!

What a fabulous weekend I have had.  It has been a fun filled weekend of family, local events and Christmas tree hunting.

We haven't had a "Real" Christmas tree in about 10 years.  So this year since our oldest doesn't live here anymore, her sister and I decided we wanted to do our traditional Thanksgiving weekend Christmas tree cutting venture that we used to do when they were little, but had to stop as my oldest daughter (as we came to find out) was allergic to evergreen trees and her eyes would puff up and be irritated the whole Christmas season.  She hated the eye drops she had to use, so we opted for a "Fake" tree all these years.

It was a beautiful day and we had a BLAST!!!

Here are a few pics of our day, I hopefully will have more once it is decorated (so far we just have the lights and the star on it).

Brady, Chelsea and Rocky
Chelsea and Brady looking for the perfect tree
Sorry Chelsea, it is too little, maybe next year
We had an Angry Bird in our tree :)
When Brady was little, he always wanted to cut down
the tree.  He wasn't leaving until he did.  LOL!
Funny how he didn't even want to go, but once there
he was having a blast.  Kids!  LOL

Wow!  A 10 foot tree.  This is the biggest one
we have ever had.  :)
The traditional S'more and Hot Cider around the fire pit.
Chelsea didn't forget.  :)

So hopefully I will have the house all decorated and the tree as well tomorrow.  :)  We did get the lights on outside.  Progress!  LOL!

Merrell Down & Dirty

Hello Crafty Friends!

No project today, just a share.  :)

Sunday my son did his first 5K Marathon.  It was a run and obstacle course type of event and he totally loved it.  He did it with his cousin and soon to be uncle.  :)

Erica, Blaine & Brady
If you love to do marathons and want to do something a little more down and dirty, I really suggest you check this event out.  Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run.  This organization is partnered with Operation Gratitude.  They send care packages to our deployed.  What a GREAT group of people.

Just a few pics to share (I don't want to overwhelm you...I was a little bit camera happy) haha.  What can I say, I am a very proud mama.

Me and my boy
(before, while he was still clean)
LOL

The start line
There were some obstacle I wasn't able to see
from our location at the finish area.  This rope obstacle was
about the 4th or 5th I believe.
Before this one he has to wade in about chest high
water along the edge of the lake.
This rope climb obstacle was wet and soapy/slippery.
He just shimmied right up it.  LOL!
And then there is the famous mud pit.
You have to crawl through this on your belly, no exceptions!

Here comes my muddy boy.

The muddy trio!

We are SO PROUD!
He placed 12th out of 99 participants in his age division.  He
was really proud of himself that he did this event.  First time ever and he can't wait
until next year.  He wants to beat his
time 35:48.  :)

I have a few project ideas floating around in my head.  Not sure which I will accomplish first, but you know me, I will share as soon as they are done. I also am working on my Christmas cards, so I should have some of those to share soon.

In the meantime, let me know what you are working on.  I love to hear from my crafty friends.  If you want you can "Like" me over on my Facebook page MyNeed2Craft .
