The Road to Mandala......and a Call to Arms....

........ my bloggy friend John is appealing for crafters  to come forward to boost entries to http://trelawnydflowershow.blogspot.co.uk/ - he's on the Committee and would love to hear from anyone, either at home or abroad, who would like to submit an entry. There are lots of categories to choose from, though for obvious reasons, you wouldn't be able to enter food or drink, which is a pity since the redcurrant jelly I made yesterday is extraordinarily delicious! Anyway, go over and have a look and if you fancy it, details for entering are on the Flower Show website - you've still got time - and you never know, collectively we could make this year's Show the best yet!(I've put in entries under the 'knitted','crochet' and 'landscape photo' categories and there are a few other followers of John's blog who have already taken up the challenge - fingers crossed for everybody).
.....and in other news, the very talented Suz,who recently returned to blogging after a short hiatus prompted by the gargantuan task she has just accomplished in completing her new crochet book which is just about to be published (can't wait, it will be soooo FAB!), had a tutorial on her blog for a 'Fair Isle Mandala' which I really fancied giving a go.....here it is......hope I've done your pattern justice, Suz, although I need to make a smaller cushion pad because the only one I have is a little on the large side and is stretching the cushion out too much for my liking.
.....spot the mistakes!....
....before I added the centre rose.....not sure which I prefer?....any thoughts would be appreciated....
.....the back.....
....pom-poms!(the colours of the Mandala were determined by this 'Tilda' trimming I found in a charity shop for 20p!Tres frou-frou!)...
....a giant crocheted cupcake?!!.....

.....and if you fancy having a go yourself, pop over here....http://8thofthe8thofthe8th.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/fair-isle-mandala-pattern-and-pictures.html...to see some fantastic results and more FABULOUS patterns from Suz, she's the Queen of Crochet!
Have a Great Weekend, Everyone....now that Summer's finally arrived!
