Oasis star 'happy' without drugs
Noel Gallagher
Noel Gallagher likes being 'clear-headed'
Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has said he is a happier person since he gave up drugs.

Gallagher, who gave up alcohol and narcotics three years ago, told the Daily Telegraph he wanted to concentrate on being a good father to his one-year-old daughter Anais.

Instead of fighting with his brother and Oasis partner Liam, he is laughing at his jokes.

"Liam used to really annoy me, but now I think he is a comic genius, the funniest guy I have known in my entire life," said Gallagher.

"I believe that in the old days he was difficult and drinking so much because of his ex-wife (actress Patsy Kensit).

"She made him unhappy and he used to take it out on the rest of the band."

'Panic'

Liam Gallagher is currently in a relationship with All Saints star Nicole Appleton. She is due to give birth to their baby in about two weeks.

Gallagher added: "I liked drugs, I was good at them. But I'd had panic attacks for about a year and I stopped because I wanted to.

Meg Matthews
Meg was married to Noel for three years

"After you make the decision it is quite easy. And I am quite proud of the fact that I didn't have to check into one of those dodgy clinics."

He said he enjoyed clear-headed and eating at regular times.

"I feel happier than I ever have," he said.

Gallagher, divorced from Meg Matthews in January, is also in a new relationship with music public relations executive Sara MacDonald.

Party organiser Meg Matthews was married to the guitarist for three years and is the mother of his daughter Anais.

Noel said he wanted to be a "good and approachable father" to his little girl who he described as the "spitting image" of himself.

He also confirmed that Oasis will no longer perform Wonderwall, the song he wrote in his wife's honour.

"It doesn't seem right any more. So we are not going to bother doing it."
