Still purging...

My downstairs closet received a
very needed purging...

As a result,
I reunited with this yummy fabric
that I absolutely love...

Just the perfect companion
for a little burlap...

and just enough to cover an old ottoman...

I took it to my space
and somehow I find myself smiling
every time I go back and realize
the ottoman hasn't sold...
I really like how it looks in my house
but I know I can't keep it...

Now, if it doesn't sell...
then...it's different
because at least I tried!
LOL!!

My Husband an I played tennis...
I didn't know it was possible
for all my muscles to hurt at the same time.

I'm looking forward to the rest of today.
TV,
Coffee
and fabrics...lots of colors...
I see more rosettes in my future!!

Coming up roses...

Waking up at 6:00 am
(first day of school around here)
to gray skies and even a little morning rain
is not my idea of a Happy Morning.

I needed color and bling in my life today,
so I decided to create my own Spring...

I've been wanting to make some big flower pins
and today was the day!

I like them so much
that I even kept one for me!

I will wear it tomorrow
to the fabric store...
I need more colors!!!

4 of our rosettes are embellishing a set of napkin rings....

Lamp shade Tut

Hope you are still interested on knowing how we transformed this lampshade a couple of days ago, because today we are reveling the secret...

  • We printed our design using "Photo Fabric" (paper backed fabric for use in inkjet printers).
JoAnn's fabrics offers 3 different kinds:
Cotton Twill, this is the one we use.
Silk
Canvas

The fabric is very white, to make it match the lampshade better, we chose a background for our design with a yellowish vintage tone.

  • We made a pattern of the side of the lampshade we wanted to embellish. We used paper, but now we realize that using a piece of muslin makes the pattern making a whole lot easier...craft and learn!!

  • Once we were happy with the pattern, we cut the printed fabric, peeled the backing and applied it to the shade using spray adhesive.
Thinking about the possibilities of fabric printing, we also came up with this alternative for when we want to use a specific color or material:

  • Attach a clear sheet of label material for inkjet printers to your fabric. make sure you get rid of wrinkles!
  • Cut the fabric to fit the sheet. Your fabric should be now: 8.5" X 11"
  • Print your design
  • Peel the Label Sheet and use your printed fabric as needed.

Here's the design we made, in case you would like to use it.
(please: personal use only, no commercial)

Are your wheels spinning yet?
Well, what are you waiting for???
Go print something...
Go make something beautiful!!

Field Trip to the Fabric Store...

We had a fun morning today...Clara and I went to one of our favorite places: the fabric store. We started working on another room makeover. This time we will transform a Living/Dining Room and we hope you'll join us in the process...
While the painters take care of the walls, we will pick colors, stain, paint, sew and stage to give this family a room they will want to spend time in...

Cheryl, our customer, likes Aqua, Blues, Greens and Brown shades so that's what we focused on today. These are some of the choices the store had to offer:

We like florals, but this one is too cutsy...

Add ImageNice, but not perfect...

Wait...Clara, we need to focus on Cheryl's room....!

We love this combo....we just need a little green to go with her sofa....

Oh! ...mixed with the chocolate print and the stripes, the paisley is a keeper!!..

Hope Cheryl likes them as much as we do...
Next step: new life to a couple of tired pieces. Stay tuned!!
