pre Christmas update... (picture heavy)

Things have been busy here, though I'm not quite sure with what... I just know that I don't seem to have enough time in a day to get everything I would like done, and that I always seem to be behind...

But enough complaining, let me show you what I have been up to... I've been working on finishing up the ornaments that I had stitched, as well as managing to stitch up a couple more... Here are all the "finished" ones together - 9 of them, I still have to finish up the 4 "Joy" ornamnets, but that is another story all together. I don't think I will have enough for all the stockings plus friends this year, so we bought ornaments again for the stockings. The stitched ones will go to various friends... though some/most will arrive/be recieved after the fact. I'll have to remember to start earlier next year to make sure I have enough for all the stockings...and to make sure everyone gets them in time.

I did them all with beaded edges, as for me its the quickest and neatest way to do them. I've also taken some close ups of the newest 3 ornaments.

It was also my great-nephew's 2nd birthday this past week, and with Christmas just around the corner, we only got him a little something, as I know there will be a few more things under the tree for him and his little brother... I haven't posted pictures of them in a while, so I thought I would share a couple of recent ones as well as the little stitched bag he got for his birthday from us. These were taken a couple of weeks ago at his grandpa's birthday dinner (my brother). Its funny the only good picture I could get of Ethan were when he was sitting at the table eating, otherwise all the other ones turned out blurry...

what's inside...little toys perfect for little boys

last but not least, my Christmas sleigh and reindeer

We finally bought our tree yesterday, but I still haven't done any decorating in the house, other than the above picture which is on our piano. The decorating and the tree will happen this coming week, with the tree being last... we normally only put the tree up and decorate it on the 24th, but family is coming over (plus a couple of extras for a total of 16 adults and 2 little ones) Christmas eve, so we will have to do it a bit earlier to make sure we are done in time for dinner. I'll post pictures after Christmas so you can all see.

great mail day!

I'm at home not feeling well today, so I was a little blah and down. But what a better way to cheer up than to recieve something fantastic in the mail! (finally something other than bills!)

My wonderful friend Evi from Hungary sent me this wonderful package as a belated birthday gift. She makes the most wonderful knitted and crocheted things, its an honour to get anything from her belated or not! You have to check her blog and her meska site out to see all the neat things she makes. Though her blog is in Hungarian, please drop her a line (she speaks English as well) if you like what you see.

I recieved a beautiful scarf and mitten set, as well as a very pretty cross stitched bookmark, and a gorgeous skein of hand dyed floss - she dyed it herself and made only two skeins, one for her and one for me! How sweet is that! Now to just find something super special to stitch with it!

Check out the close up of the detail on the scarf... I just love it and think its beautiful! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! No words can say express just how thankful I am or how much I love it!

Though I don't really want to rush winter and the cold weather, I can hardly wait to start wearing these! They are such a pretty eggplant kind of purple, so very pretty and so very difficult to get a good picture to show off the true colour!

spring came in with a bang! (picture heavy)

Well I have to admit, it is true that where I live, you just never know what to expect with the weather... Last week we had great weather, plus temperatures, sunshine etc. though not all the snow was melted, at least all the driveways, roads (for the most part) and sidewalks were all clear, as well as most of the lawns in places. Even yesterday we had wonderful weather, +13C and sunshine... then the weather warning came... a winter snow storm was headed our way and overnight our neighbourhood turned back into a winter wonderland:

This is what we woke up to this morning, as you can see the tape measures shows 8 inches (20 cm) of freshly fallen snow:

Then after brunch hubby and I decided to tackle it and shovel the driveway... as anyone who has been to our house knows, we have a large driveway, so we only did about 1/2 as well as the sidewalk and a path on the other side by the parked jeep and truck. I will admit, I was/am tired from the shoveling... it looks fluffy enough but once you dig into it, its heavy and wet, but oh so pretty! The sun was out and as you can tell the snow was already melting off the jeep.

Sorry I haven't been around lately, I've been reading blogs, just not posting. I sort of lost my stitching mojo as well as my blogging and emailing mojo but it seems that they are are back! So great big aplogies to those who I owe emails to, I haven't forgotten you, and I've been thinking about you alot. Emails will be on their way soon!

I have been stitching but not alot, so the birthday gifts and the swap gift that I needed to get done have been very slow going. But they are done! I can't show them all to you yet, as they haven't yet reached their desitinations, but once they do I will show you. Here are a couple of things I can show, as one has been recieved, and I know my nieces don't read my blog.

This one is for one of my friends who's birthday was back in February, but as is usual for me, she got the gift a little belated...

and then the whole package together

Here is what I made my nieces. The same little pincushion/ornament as above, just different beads around the edges. I still need to get their packages together and mail them off. I know it won't get there in time for one nieces' birthday but if it gets to them before the second birthday then all will be good. Its going to be strange this year, as we are normally in Hungary with them celebrating. This year due to many factors, we've decided to postpone our trip and hopefully go in the summer time.

I also have a little happy dance to share, in that I've finished off another one of the letters in my alphabet blocks. I finished the letter "i" and I'm already half way through the letter "j", so I should have another little dance in a couple of days.

And last but not least a little freebie to share from Kissy-Cross's blog A little cup of something to keep us warm with all that snow outside.
