It Looked A Lot Like Christmas

Every once in  awhile we have a client ask us to help them with their Christmas decor.

This year one of our favorite clients needed all new items for their first Christmas in their new home.  It was a ton of work, but a true labor of love.  It was a long nine hour day and my hands were bleeding at the fingertips, but it turned out gorgeous!

Their 12 foot tree.
Yes, I was on the top of that ladder all day long.

Their decadent mantle.

You always need a few wreaths inside.

Not to mention, an over the top garland.

The End of 2012

The end of 2012 was a bit of a rough one for me.

Between getting the plague that would not go away, work, and having a dear friend diagnosed with breast cancer I was not much for keeping up with my blog.

I am ready for 2013 to turn everything around and focus on the fun in life.

Before I leave 2012 behind though there are a few last snapshots I have to share with you.

Love.

I Want it to Look Like Christmas

So even though it is 100+ degrees again in the OC, I am dreaming of fall.  I am waiting for it to show up in any form.  The changing color of leaves, not having to use my AC (which is still partially broken) or even a gust of wind.

Anyways, the weather needs to catch up with me because I am already perusing Christmas ornaments.

I was very excited when I found these Confetti System x West Elm ones too!

At $12 a pop I think they are worth it.

I can only hope that the new West Elm opening at South Coast Plaza will open soon and will have a few of these in stock!

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas GIVEAWAY!

I could not believe my luck when I was given the chance to style a wreath for The Christmas Tree Market.

I had been looking for a white wreath but nothing I had found was wow-ing me. Then I saw theirs.

Nothing could have made me smile more.

When it arrived on my doorstep it was so pretty that I almost did not even want to add anything to it. I finally decided on my vision. White and Silver with a good dose of glitter and shine.

A few ornaments. The right bow. The perfect wreath hanger.

Voila!

Recap of a Busy Week and Weekend

Last week flew by as well as this weekend.

It started with packing for a trip to our clients home in Arizona.

Poor Dorothy...she does not like it when the suitcase comes out.

Packing the essentials:

Jeans, Leggings, Mary Janes, flats, and my favorite striped Equipment blouse

After the quick flight here is where we ended up...

Dressed for a dinner out

The next day we tried this new spot. Uh-mazing. I must go back.

We always manage to fit in some shopping when we are on our work trips.

I wanted to take these Diors home with me.

By the time I returned home the weather had finally changed and the leaves had fallen.

Over the weekend we also took our family Christmas photos with Dana Grant Photography.

Dorothy wanted to wear pearls, but I told her I already was.

Lastly, I put a few more finishing touches on the holiday decor around our house.

Weekend Recap Via Instagram

I was very excited to FINALLY get new pillows for my favorite chairs.

I found another new picture app via Alissa over at The GOODS Design.
I then proceeded to make Dorothy Mantooth even prettier than she already was.

I almost went into a glitter coma thanks to Martha Stewart. All I want for Christmas is glitter.

The hubby and I did put up our silver tinsel tree and stockings too.

Christmas Re-Do

So I have been a little MIA, but Christmas this year has seemed to be a lot more work than usual. Between work and home I have barely had a minute to think.

I did get our new tree up this weekend though.

Thank you to my mom who is letting us borrow this sparkly number.

I have to say I was surprised how much my husband liked the tree. He is Mr. Traditional and I thought he would be unhappy with this little guy. Instead he said he really enjoyed how light it felt in the room.

We also managed to get to a Christmas party - 50's style - this weekend. My husband really knows how to rock a Christmas sweater.

Fresh Greenery or Not

On the day after Thanksgiving my hubs and I went here:

Where we found the perfect tree.

We gave him a new cut so he could stand up straight and get fresh water easily.

Then we covered him in twinkling lights and beautiful ornaments and he was the best tree we had ever had...UNTIL...

He started to stink up the place.

What the hell tree? What did we ever do to you?

I came home and my house smelled. I could not figure out what it was, just that it was ripe. Guess who? Tree.

So now, until the weekend when my hubs and I both have a free moment we will have a stinky house. Not to mention, we have to take down all the ornaments and the lights and drag the sucker out of here.

Then I am left without a tree for the holidays.

Luckily, my mom is letting me borrow here 'extra' tree. It is a silver tinsel tree. It will be a fun change, but I have a feeling this was the last year until kids come that a live (or in this case rotten) tree will be in my house.

Sad.

The Stockings Were Hung...

This weekend is not only my favorite because of the family, food and friends but because it also means it is time for Christmas season to begin!

Like clockwork, the day after Thanksgiving is spent picking out our tree, hanging stockings and lights, and getting the house ready for nights in by the fire.

I had already gotten a new ornament that I fell in love with from Anthropologie that has been sitting in the hall closet just waiting to be hung.

Flamestitch / Missoni-esque Heaven.

Not to mention it is BIG.

Dorothy is not a fan of the chaos that is involved when moving the tree into our house. Not to mention it was colder than it has been all year here so she took cover under my husbands sweatshirt on the bed.

Good choice Dorth.
