Kangaroos

My sister and I were visiting my grandma in Florida. She has a bunch of cows on her land. They act like big kitties, it was really cute. Ash made a video about this too. VloMo08! FTW! It has begun! Only 29 more days...

Beijing, China: August 2008

Jay and I spent the better part of August in Beijing during the Olympics to help document protests happening there. We blogged more in depth about it on RyanIsHungry. Here is the momentshowing version of the trip. As you can see the Olympics were everywhere. Shopping centers, cafes, buses, subway cars and stations. You could not escape the games. It was fascinating. Enjoy.

P.S. A majority of this video was recorded with the Flip Video Mino. I thought it did pretty well for an inexpensive pocket cam. Though the zoom is digital and kinda crappy and you can't go macro. The rest was captured with the Xacti E1.

Can Masdeu: Squat-Community Barcelona

we visited this radical squat-community called can masdeu in barcelona. they have these amazing gardens on this beautiful land over looking barcelona and out to the sea. their story is really interesting- they took over the abandoned building in 2001 by just staging a sit in (ok it was a little more dramatic than that). this footage is sound-less again.

Paris

good god, paris is beautiful. the only thing keeping me from wanting to move there is that i can't speak a lick of french. daniel liss was recently there as was raymond. check out their amazing videos too. our xacti broke right before we hit paris, so we were shooting blind, no LCD screen to guide us. hence some crookedness. i think we did pretty well considering!

people you might know in this video: loiez, jefferey, raymond.

Bruges, Belgium

bruges is an insanely old city in belgium. therefore lots of tourists, including us, go there. it was really beautiful, but also depressingly lonely. this side trip really made me realize that traveling to any city is really only cool if you know people and are doing cool things. i'm a terrible tourist, all i want to do is either sleep or work. see old buildings and museums? nah!

Edinburgh: Days 6-8, Castles and Pounds

i always think the artwork on money is beautiful. European money tends to be a bit more colorful than US money. a friend of mine from the netherlands showed me dutch bills before they became the euro and they had mother goose flying by a windmill. how cool is that? the old school wood engraving look just kills me, i love it.

Rice Mill in Thailand

today is the first day of november, which is now NaVloPoMo or National Vlog Posting Month which is a riff off of National Blog Posting Month which originated as National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo. so, a bunch of us are posting a video a day for all of november. can we do it? YES. so can you! just start posting today (or tomorrow or the next day or whenever) and join the little ning group so we all know to encourage each other. post anything and everything. think of it not as a month of toil, but a month of FREEDOM!!

i think i'll be pulling things from my archive that i've been meaning to post for a while. this is good motivation for sure!

Cambodia to Vietnam

more momentshowing. this is how we take pictures. people tell us to upload our photos to flickr, but i never take photos, i guess momentshowing is just our version of photos. cambodia to vietnam. the shot of me frantically and obsessively trying to upload video to the web on an old PC in the internet cafe cracks me up. look at my face! i look crazed! it's true, i must upload or else! now we're in thailand. i'm liking it so far! bangkok is huge, it reminds me of LA.
