Birthday Event #5: Name That Penguin

Hello folks!  There may only be a few days left before our 7th Birthday Celebration is completed but that doesn't mean the fun is over yet.

If you haven't had the opportunity to participate in our 7th Birthday Celebration yet, you can find the first post published on Jan. 15th, with further details of our seven years in business, the challenge link up and prize list for that challenge, by clicking HERE to check it out. We had a Letter Hunt for Birthday Event #2 that ran from from Jan. 16th to the 21st with a deadline of January 31st and then also offered up a Flash Freebie on Jan. 25th for Birthday Event #3 that you can find HERE if you haven't already grabbed it. Next, for Birthday Event #4 we offered up a Word Search and you still have until Friday to get your answers submitted. You can find the details for that event by clicking HERE.

Today, for Birthday Event #5, I'm popping in to test your knowledge on just how well you know Brrr's family and friends. It is time to play, "Name That Penguin".

Below you will find a number of penguin images from the STORE. The penguins will be numbered and it is your job to let me know the NAME of the penguin featured in that particular image.

Birthday Event #4: Word Search

Hello folks!  My goodness, where on earth have the last weeks gone?! Even though the last three weeks have flown by, there is still time to have a little fun in our 7th Birthday Celebration.

First though, if you haven't had the opportunity to participate in our 7th Birthday Celebration yet, you can find the first post published on Jan. 15th, with further details of our seven years in business, the challenge link up and prize list for that challenge, by clicking HERE to check it out. We had a Letter Hunt for Birthday Event #2 that ran from from Jan. 16th to the 21st with a deadline of January 31st and then also offered up a Flash Freebie on Jan. 25th for Birthday Event #3 that you can find HERE if you haven't already grabbed it.

Today, for Birthday Event #4 we have another fun activity planned. This time we have a word search for you to complete but we're not going to make it easy for you because where would the fun be in that!

Below you will find a grid with 14 rows across and the same number down filled with letters. Within this group of letters you will find 20 WORDS ASSOCIATED WITH PENGUINS. Since our focus is on Brrr and his family and friends this month, it is only fitting that our word search contain different kinds of vocabulary words that one might correlate with penguins.

What you need to do…

First, right click on the image and scroll down to choose the save option associated with your specific browser so that you can save the Word Search Puzzle to your computer. Then you can print it out and start looking for the words contained within.

Use a pencil (or pen if you're really brave) and start looking for words that are associated with penguins. For example, think about their environment, what they eat, what they look like, what they do, etc. That should give you a starting place to begin looking for your word list.

Remember there are 20 WORDS in this puzzle for you to find. We'll even give you your first word on the house:

1. Start up in the left hand corner where you see the letter A. 
2. Read down until you find the third letter which is a D. 
3. Then, under D you'll find the letters I, V, and E which give you the word DIVE.

 Now it is up to you to find the other 19 words!

Once you've come up with as many words as you are able to, please come back and leave a list of all your words in a comment on this post. I'll be leaving comment moderation on this post to ensure that it is fair for everyone.

Of course if we're going to make you go to all that effort to solve this puzzle, we're going to have some prizes for you to win!  We're going to have a few different levels for this particular game.

For those who ONLY get between 10 and 14 words correct, your name will be thrown into a draw and ONE random winner will have a chance to win:

• $6 worth of images from the Penguin section in the store.

For those who ONLY get between 5 and 9 words correct, your name will be thrown into a draw and ONE random winner will have a chance to win:

• $3 worth of images from the Penguin section in the store.

Letter Hunt: Clue #6--The Final Clue...being released now

It is time for the release of clue #6, the final clue of our letter hunt!

Each day over the last six days you have been given the chance to work through clues revealing six different letters:

The first clue was released on this challenge blog on January 16th. If you missed the first stop, please go HERE and start from the beginning to ensure that you understand how to play along and get all the clues you will need to participate. Then, each day from January 17th to January 20th, clues were released on each of our four current full time DT members' blogs. The final clue to help you figure out what the word is, can be found below:

Clue #6

1. Go to the Scribbles Designs Store: http://buyscribblesdesigns.blogspot.ca
2. In the labels section which you will find on the right hand of the page in the sidebar, click on Penguins.
3. Scroll through all the penguin images until you find the fun image that I used on all the sneak peek frames (see below).
4. Once you have found the correct image in the store (below the watermarked image and 'buy' button), you will see, "Letter For January 21st:", along with the actual letter which is in block style and has a snowflake background. 
5. Make note of the letter that you see and keep track of it.
6. This is the last of your six letters.

Don't forget, when going through the store, you need to keep scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on 'Older Post' in order to ensure that you see all images within the penguin section.

Now that you have gathered each of the six letters, you'll need to UNSCRAMBLE them in order to figure out the word. When you think that you have deciphered it, please leave a comment on this post letting me know what you think the word is. I'll be leaving comment moderation on this post to ensure that it is fair for everyone.

Birthday Event #2: Letter Hunt

Hello everyone! Yesterday we embarked on our month long birthday celebration by launching our regular monthly challenge. There are some cool extra prizes including a one-of-a-kind bag! Click HERE or scroll back one post to check out all the details for our current challenge.

Today, I was wondering if you would like to embark on a little adventure with us over here at Scribble Designs? Up for some amusement and the opportunity to earn some goodies along the way?! Well if your answer is 'YES', then keep reading...

It has been an amazing seven years and what better way to celebrate than to have a little fun. That is why, each day over the next six days you are going to have the chance to work through clues that will reveal six different letters. Each of these letters will come together to form a word that you need to figure out:

Clues will be released here on the challenge blog and also on each of the participating DT members' blogs to help you figure out what the word is. You can see the full line up below.

When you receive a clue, you must go to the store and figure out what letter it is we are looking for.  We won't be giving you the letters in the correct order so you'll need to unscramble all the letters you've collected over the six days in order to figure out the word. On the last day of the letter hunt event, you'll have the opportunity to leave a comment letting us know what you think the word is. I'll be leaving comment moderation on that post to ensure that it is fair for everyone.

You will be provided with a visual clue at each stop along the way, whether here or on a DT member's blog, to make sure you find the correct image in the store.

Today though, I'm going to walk you through the entire process, which will give you your first letter.

1. Go to the Scribbles Designs Store: http://buyscribblesdesigns.blogspot.ca
2. In the labels section which you will find on the right hand of the page in the sidebar, click on Penguins. This will bring up all Sandy's fabulous penguin related images.
3. Scroll through all the penguin images until you find the image that was used for our 7th birthday banner (shown at the top of this post) and also on our special 7th birthday badge (which can be found at the top of the right sidebar). Big thanks to Diane Louise for colouring up the image for our badge and banner!
4. Once you have found the correct image in the store (below the image and 'buy' button), you will see, "Letter For January 16th:", along with the actual letter which is in block style and has a snowflake background. 
5. Make note of the letter that you see and keep track of it.
6. This is the first of your six letters.

Don't forget, when going through the store, you need to keep scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on 'Older Post' in order to ensure that you see all images within the penguin section.

Now to make sure that you did it correctly you should have found the image:

You now have one of the six letters filled in. So get ready to continue in our letter hunt! You will have until 8:59 p.m., PST, on Friday, January 31st, to complete the letter hunt and submit your answers. We want to make sure that as many of our readers as possible have the chance to participate in Birthday Event #2.
