Purim in 1932 Tel Aviv

(via MPaths)

Really interesting to see this - from how it was built up to the hilarious name of Adloyada for the carnival (Ad d'lo yada is a term for how on Purim people should reach the point of not knowing the difference between Mordechai and Haman) to the growing concern about Nazi Germany to the national groups and companies that still exist today, 80 years later.

Happy Jerusalem Reunification Day

My apologies for interrupting the highly amusing comment thread on why guys don't should compliment girls on shidduch dates...yet due to the importance of today to the Jewish people, I wanted to remind the SerandEz readership that today is Yom Yerushalayim -- Jerusalem Reunification Day.

I posted about it here on my blog, along with the audio recording of the IDF troops racing towards Har Habayit, the shofer blowing by Rav Goren, the recitation of Birkat She'hechiyanu, and the joyful -- almost inconceivable singing of the Hatikva beneath the newly liberated Kotel 41 years ago.

You too can live the dream...there are still spaces on Nefesh b'Nefesh flights!

Chag Sameach,

Jameel @ The Muqata

PS: Don't forget to see the JBlogosphere float from yesterday's salute to Israel Day Parade.

SerandEz at the Parade

Yes, it appears my sunglasses were sliding down. They were doing that all day, and I can't figure out why. And yes, I know I can't smile for pictures. Okay? Hmph.

Elianna at the Parade

She had the time of her life at the Salute to Israel parade yesterday...
And yes, she IS the cutest, as a number of wide-eyed high-schoolers, cops, and others told us over and over. :)
