Altered Altoid Tin and Prize Pack

Good Wednesday morning! As you can see, there have been more changes to the SS blog! Our cute little background was causing some performance issues with the blog, so we changed it again. Hopefully, this new one will behave for everyone!

As promised, here is the picture of the prize for the "New" challenge that I posted yesterday!

The random drawing winner will get both the Heidi Swapp Summer frame kit and the Cosmo Cricket blackboard mini album kit. The mini album has 6 pages ready for you to decorate. The frame kit includes:

5 chipboard frames
1 rub on sheet
3 ribbons
6 mini brads
2 label holders
6 index tabs and inserts
6 decorative tapes
2 ghost words

How cute are these?? We also set up an inlinkz link for the entries, so no need to email them. Have fun!

On to today's project ... My godson is turning 18 this weekend. He is attending a culinary school here in Boston and I am so proud of him! We got him a gift card for an online chef supply store for his present so that he can buy some tool of the trade that he may need. (Visions of Spongebob and his Crabby Patty spatula here!!) I have quite a little collection of altoid tins that I have had my husband save for me, so I decided to alter one to hold the gift card. After googling and finding a couple of sites with ideas and tutorials, I measured and cut out my pieces from Graphic 45 Steampunk paper and attached them using my ATG gun and my Xyron. Once attached, I Mod Podged them to seal everything. I added the do-dads on top, trying to keep it masculine. (I so wanted to add a ribbon or something sparkly!!) It really was much easier than I thought it would be! I will be making more of these guys for the holidays. Keep the tins coming, honey!

AGES AND STAGES WEEK 2, DAY 3

A friend took this shot of my son getting his diploma and sent it to me. I was in the mood to get messy. I didn't go into this with any ideas..I just grabbed some Modge Podge...grabbed a $1.00 frame I had and then just grabbed the closest paper stack and started tearing. I kind of tossed it on without thinking to much and came up with this :) I used my fingers..no brushes and just had fun with it. I found these number stickers.. dotted them with a white pen and called it a day! On pieces and parts of the frame that I didn't cover with paper, I just touched with an inked q-tip. It was fun... just tearing and sticking.... here there and everywhere!! I suggest that ya go get gucky and mucky and sticky and make a mess, see whatch come up with. Have fun!

CARD TIN ALTERING PROJECT AND MATCHING CARD

Here is the tin before we altered it (SEE SUPPLY LIST BELOW). We used sheer white ribbon. To add color we decided to run chalking ink over the ribbon, pulling ribbon as we inked. (note: ink the ribbon first and set to the side to allow it to dry).

We cut four strips of paper, the paper we used on the bottom half o the tin was cut at 3x12 (note you may have trim a little bit.). The top pieces are cut at 2x12. Apply with your favorite adhesive. We found it easier to start on the side or back to hide the seams. You can start with the top pieces.

We decided to alcohol ink the top of the card tin, to add color to the white top. When then added the ribbon to the middle of the page.

We then spelled out the word CARDS, and alcohol inked them and put on brown cardstock. The cardstock was measuring at 1 x 2.25. We of coursed inked the cardstock. We cut ribbons at 8 inches and double knotted them on the handles. We used roughly ten ribbons, you can can use as many as you like. We varied our colors.
We made a matching card with our scraps using the Just Because Cards Cricut Cartridge, using page 57. The words come from page 62.

Here is the inside our our card. And of course the finished project!! Have fun and go forth and alter!
