Come Sail Away (Selective Embossing)

Hello, all! Kristina here. :)

Today I made a card using a DIY selective embossing diffuser (see another example HERE). Simon Says Stamp sells diffusers by Tim Holtz, but I made my own by cutting a rectangle out of six sheets of cardstock and adhering them together. For more instruction, be sure to watch the video below. And of course, you'll have to experiment with your die cutting machine to get the best die cutting sandwich. Every machine is just ever so slightly different.

I love the detail of both the dry embossing with this folder and the heat embossing with Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold embossing powder and the Come Sail Away stamp set by Kelly Purkey.

The gold embossing with the Navy ink from Hero Arts just screams nautical to me! Love it! And the striped circle from Circle Friends fit right in.

Anyhow, enjoy!

Selective Embossing with DIY Diffuser

Hi all! Kristina here. :)

Did you notice how the little bunny has embossing around him? I was able to leave the area around the bunny untouched by using a diffuser. For an easy to use diffuser, you can try the Tim Holtz Diffusers, but I wanted the non-embossed area to be lower on the card so I created my own diffuser for when I embossed the cardstock with Spellbinders' Simplicity embossing folder.

Be sure to watch the video below to see how to use a diffuser. I also explain how I made it using 6 sheets of 120# Ultra Thick Cardstock (really just one and a half sheets since I cut them down). You can use chipboard or other thick materials for the diffuser as well. The key is to experiment and see what works best for you. :)

I colored in the cute bunny stamp from Paper Smooches with Inktense pencils. To add the goofy eyes, I used Ranger Enamel Accents.

Dry Embossed & Heat Embossed Holiday Card

Happy Tuesday, all! Kristina here with another card and video. :)

A few days ago, I discovered that one of the sentiments in My Favorite Things' Seasonal Sentiments stamp set fit perfectly inside the label shape on the Sizzix and Hero Arts Stripes and Frame stamp and embossing folder set. I thought it would be cool to do both dry embossing (with the embossing folder) and heat embossing on a card using the sentiment and background stamp set.

I also used the Let It Snowflake die set from My Favorite Things. I ADORE how intricate the snowflakes are. So dainty!

Anyhow, enjoy!
