Coming.... 2008 Happenings of baby boy Taylor

Some news

So we had a gender ultra sound.... We are having another BOY! I was totally shocked I really thought this baby was well... not a boy. I really am thrilled to have two cute little brothers. Right now we are calling him Jack. Steve and I differ so much on the names we like and we both like Jack, for him it's after one of his heroes JFK who went by jack to friends. I have always liked the name but am concerned by it's recent surge in popularity seeing as our last name is less than unique. Jack Taylor really sounds great together though. We have several months to decide so we shall see. Sam had his mind made up on having a sister but it didn't take him long to get used to the idea of a brother. (like he knows any different.) Steve is quite proud of himself and is convinced he is the manliest of men by fathering two boys in a row! I was excited to shop for girl clothes but we have totally different seasons as Sam was a January baby and this little guy will be June so I will still get to do some shopping. And of course I gotta get a few matching outfits:)

Christmas

This was our first Christmas morning we spent just the 3 of us. It was really nice. We set our tree up Sams room so he slept on our floor on his "floor bed" I suppose I ought to talk aboout Christams eve first.
We first had a party witht the Edde side. My sister Marcelle came with her family from Indiana. We did our usual sitting and chatting and snacking while all the kids played downstairs. Jamie made this fun game modeled after the game Mad Gab, only she made up christmas sayings. All the cousins exchanged presents. Sam got a very cool car from his cousin Kristian and he gave a book that he had absolutely nothing to do with to his 13 year old cousin Jace.
After my family's thing we went to a Taylor side dinner. It was hosted by my my sister-in-law Tristan. Her family was in town and they have a family full of great cooks. We had this amazing prime rib dinner and Tristan set the most beautiful table. I wish I had taken a picture. She really has a knack for it and I'm hoping she will throw a new years eve party now :) hint hint.

As far as gifts go, all Steve wanted was books, so I thats what he got. Oh and some headphones. Steve got me a few maternity shirts and a super nice frying pan that I wanted. Oh and this great body pillow thats designed for big fat pregnant girls :) Sammy got alot of little things. Some new trains specifically The little Engine That could. (that's the only gift he would ask for) and some cars. We got him a nerf dart gun that Dad has been playing with more than Sam. He also got a Thomas the train DVD. Yes I know that Christmas is not only about gifts. I did spend some time reflecting on my blessings throughout the year and the birth of our Savior. I think that Christmas hymns always have the most effect on me. I love to feel the spirt through music. Sam's favorites are Silent Night and Away in a Manger. He heard "The Little Drummer Boy" on the radio the other day. He asked what it was about, So I told him. He then told me that he wanted to play the drums for his new baby for his birthday. He is such a sweet hearted little kid

Is Christmas really next week? and the 23rd is Sunday... when do I finish my shopping? I am working all this week to make sure everybody looks fabulous for Christmas.... I know this is how my schedule always works. Why didn't I get it done sooner? becuase I'm Stacy, and I dont' do things like "plan ahead "and such.

Steve-o blogger

I convinced Steve to start a blog. He is a really good writer, very well read with intersesting opinions. I'm sure he will write mostly about politcs and sports so if that interests you, take a peak.

http://stevesdeepthougts.blogspot.com/

wasailing

Sam's new favorite song is "Santa Clause Is Coming to Town" He requests it every night for bedtime and he surprised me one day by knowing most of the lyrics. I have really tried hard to get it on tape but he was a pretty good sport.(I'm sure I used some form of bribe) He also has been making up songs about his favorite things. I haven't been able to get his Polar Express song on tape but I'm trying so stay tuned.

The polar express!

So Sam had the best day of his little life thus far. We went to Heber to ride the Polar Express (heber creeper). He has been obsessed with the book, then the movie, He kept telling me, "On Chwismas eve, da poh-yah espwess wiw pick me up and take me to da noaf poe, and Santa wiw give me a siwvah behw fwum his wiendeers hahness. (did 'ja get that? it just does'nt sound the same without the Sammy accent) after a few weeks of that story we figured we had better do something to fulfill the fantasy.
Mom: "Sam, where are we? "
Sam: "Da powah espwess!"

Drinking hot cocoa, given to us by real life elves (or pre-pubescent girls in red and green felt) on the train ride to the north pole.

He did not want any part of me or my lap, this was his thing, no distractions please!

Recieving "The first gift of Christmas" Well really he was the first not the only kid in our car to get a bell but, still.

Brief moment with the big man.

Outside in front of one of the trains. I think he died and went to locomotive heaven on Wednesday night.

Steve's Deep Thoughts

UGLY AMERICAN HERO'S

I decided to share some of the deeper, more insightful things that I think about. To start with, I am going to talk about ugly people--you know who you are, you're the person that people can't stop staring at. You are the person that makes someone's bad day so much better because they had the good fortune of seeing you. You are the person that causes traffic accidents because people get caught staring. You are the kind of person that gets used by anti-tobacco campaigns. So don't feel so bad--you are really a blessing for society. It might not always be easy, but you are really an unsung hero that deserves more recognition, maybe even some sort of award. We could call the award something like: Ugly American Hero--that sounds right. So, if you know any Ugly American Hero's, please find a way to get their photo to this blog so they get the recognition they deserve.

This deserving hero, this ugly lady, deserves some recognition. Thanks McKenzie and JT.

Winter!!!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!!
I just might have passed my love of snow onto the Little guy. My parents backyard is so perfect for playing. They have a pretty big hill that's big enough to sled down but not so big that you catch tons of speed. We don't have a sled yet, but we got resourcful and used a laundry basket. It worked pretty well, Sam face planted a few times in the snow but surprisingly, my little nervous boy just laughed it off. He would tip over then trek his way back up the hill chanting, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can." Did I mention the boy likes trains? Or that his is the cutest almost 3 year-old alive?

This is our first ever snowman. We had fun making him, of course Sam was convinced he was Frosty and was confused as to why he didn't dance around. We did make his nose out of a dumb dumb sucker and not a button, perhaps that was the reason.
I am just really in love with my little family at the moment. The boys in my life are just so stinkin' cute together. Steve has a way with Sam that's just so fun to watch. Sam has had a really hard time with baths. He really just hates them. A fly on the wall would think that I beat my child. There are just tears and screaming and... it's misserable. I turned the job over to Steve and I can't even beleive it. All they do is laugh and play.

I checked in to see what could possible have made him so happy, and The Bathroom was full of 3rd grade testoterone. Steve had Sam's rubber duck and was squeezing it under water to make it "toot" and then bringing it above to squeeze the water out and make it pee..... Why didn't I think of that?! It would be nice to have a little girl to even out the household but how fun it would be to add to the boys and make the 3 amigos! We shall see

My Sistah

So I went to Florida at the beginnning of the month but like a dumb girl, I forgot my camera. Mackenzie and I got a little camera happy with hers the last night I was there. This is our best impression of Victoria Beckham.
She is the best sister I could ask for. Really I have 7 really great sisters but Kenzie and I are really close in age which I guess enhances the bond. Everyone would agree that Kenz is the funniest person they know but she is so great to talk to and she will always be my hair muse. Maybe someday we will end up living in the same state.

Just a little mild ranting

5 Things that should go to jail

1- Sponge bob square pants.....
Really what has children's entertainment come to? Are kids really this idiotic and uneffected? Many people (adult people) have come to Mr. Pants defense, saying, "No he is really funny!" I just can't even get past the theme song without wanting to rip my arm off just to have something to throw at the TV screen. This little dude and his possey should definetley serve time.
2-Taco bell comercials.
Has anyone been convinced that it's exta cool to eat at Taco Bell?
Wendy's comercials Might be an honerable mention,
does anyone else miss Dave Thomas?

3- Self Check-out Lines
In general but more specifically at wal-mart.
That Voice... oh that patronizing.... "I'm a machine and I'm smarter than you" tone
just really irks me.

4- Brittney Spears' extensions
Really did anyone not see the pictures of her shaving her head? I think the jig is up.
5-Low Book sales radio ads.
I really throw up a little in my mouth every time one sneaks up on me in between my music. I can't explain it, but please.... no more jingles to familiar tunes, No more computer tweaking to create harmonic parts of the SAME grating voice. Really I just can't handle it. Oh and the kicker that get's a LIFE sentence is the Combination Low Book Sales Sponge bob Jingle. I actually don't believe in capital punishment but I'm tempted to make an exception.

Cougar Domination

- Ute fans can expect more of this -

I haven't posted a blog yet so I figured I'd try this out (this is Steve). I'm pretty happy right now--BYU just beat Louisville in basketball 78-76. Louisville is the 6th ranked team in the country and that makes Louisville the highest ranked team that BYU has beaten in 41 years. Inspite of the impressive job by the basketball team, THE GAME tomorrow is more exciting. I'm confident that BYU can win if they play well--I'll say BYU wins 31-27. If BYU pulls it off it is just one more blow to the Devil--Utah. Ute fans know they are inferior but they live in denial and when they pull off the occasional upset, I'm sure it has something to do with soul-selling. It won't work this time.

# 2 is on the way!

We really couldn't be more excited! I'm 12 weeks and feeling really quite good. I'm not due til June 3rd which feels like forever away but I'm excited to have a baby in warm weather. We were able to have an ulrta-soud this morning which my doctor doesn't typically do this early but. at my check-up yesterday I was only measureing at 8 weeks and they couldn't hear the heartbeat with a doppler. I knew I had to be further along than 8 weeks. I was scheduled for an ultra-sound this morning and I rtied really hard not to work myself up and get worried... but.... to no avail. I got very little sleep last night and thought of every possible scenario.
The actual scenario was that my uterus is tipped back and baby bean was just chillin too far away to be heard. Of all the scenarios, I didn;t think of that one. So hear is a little picture that really turned out too small to see anything but It really does look like a little baby, We could see the little heat beat flicker and the starting of little limbs. It was so fun to see this baby so early. So now we start the countdown. Sam is super excited to have a baby brother or sister. He keeps saying, "But I want 2 babies Mom!" Glad to not have twins, Sorry Sammy.

It's really Mid- November?

So a bit of an update,
Steve is nearing the end of the school year and coming upon the dreaded finals. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving break as I'm sure he is. For him I think it will be filled with reading. You would think with a break from school he would give his brain a rest but the books on his leisure or fun reading agenda are, (he always reads about 3-4 at a time.)
- "The Court of the Red Tsar" a book about Stalin.... super fun
- "The Prize, the Quest for Oil Money and Power"
- "One Hell of a Gamble" about Cuba and Moscow during the cold war
- "Legacy of Ashes, The History of the CIA"
You would think he'd have a novel in there somewhere.... the boy is just a curious cat.
He is continually teaching Sam really funny phrases. Or he says them to Sam and Sam being the little parrot himself repeats them in the somethimes appropriate places. Sam's book obsession at the moment is "The Polar Express" He really thinks that a train is going to pick him up in front of his house at Christmas and take him to the North Pole. He says " Santa is going to give me silver bell from his reindeers harness!" The other day he told Steve. " Dad.... When I go to the north pole I will say...What Up reindeer! and they will Say "What up Sammy Juice!"
Just a little of Steve's influence in there.
And Me.... I'm going to just sound like a ditzy hairstylist girl but.... Yeahhh for Project Runway! Tonight was the first episode of season 4 and It was so good I just need more! That hour goes by way too fast.
More another day..... I will attempt some pictures if my computer will cooperate.

more Halloween

Do you think It's Love?

Uncle Greg was a little scary for Sam
These Pictures are with his Uncle Greg and Aunt Tristan aka Sam's girlfriend. He really loves her. He follows her around like a puppy and gets all shy and embarrassed when he talks about her.

TRICK OR TREAT!

GIVE ME SOMETHING GOOD TO EAT!
Finally Some Haloween pictures. I have been having major issues uploading pictures so I will try and upload a couple of posts. Just too many cute pictures.
Speaking of Halloween, It was a good day. I usually dress up but I just didn't get creative this year. Sam was a purple dragon and he thought he was so scary. He kept going aroung roaring at peo0ple. I had a few appointments at work that day and I didn't ahve a babysitter so I brought him with me. I think he was just going arund entertaining everybody. He would ask " What's you name? What's you middle name? What you gonna be for Halloween?" Later that day we went trick-or-treating at My friend Amy's. He and Jackson Had a blast together. Later Amy and Ben came over to watch a scary movie while the boys slept off the sugar high.

Sam dancing

Steve really likes the new White Stripes song and plays it a lot. Sam has decided it's his new favorite song and bust out these dance moves every time he hears it.

Park city retreat

This weekend I got to go overnight to park city with the girls from my salon. We stayed at this really great Condo, complete with fireplace, king size beds, fuzzy robes, gigantic jetted tub. (That one didn't really come in handy) We ordered pizza and drank soda from wine glasses. We went hottubbing after dinner and went exploring the hotel in our bathrobes. And stayed up way to late watching chick flicks and giving eachother facials. The next day we went to the outlets to Shop. It was so fun to hang out with the girls outside the salon. The 6 of us had a blast, a few of the girls didn't make it but they were missed!

But Why?

Beware of the inquisitive 2 year old.
"Sam, It's time to take a bath"
"but why?"
"Becuase your'e stinky"
"but why?"
"Because you have played hard all day"
"but why?"
"Becuase you have so much energy."
"but why?"
"I don't know you tell me"
"ummm... but why?"
Yeah, I feel like I should be getting points for the knowledge bowl or something. And mom's know far from everything. I have tried really hard to give him actual answers but man... this game can go in forever. Today Steve had a headache when he woke up, and Sam had to know why his head hurt. (it had stemmed from a toothache)
After about 8 "but why's?" Steve came up with. "Daddy's tooth has nerve endings that hurt, and that sends a message to Daddy's brain and triggers the pain receptors and that makes daddy's head hurt." He actually got an "Oh...." From Sam. I'm sure he was utterly confused but satisfied all the same.

update

Life lately has been mundane in a good way. Work is going well for me, School is going well for Steve. The few classes that seemed impossible to pass, he is actually doing quite well in. Samuel is continuing his love affair with trains. We have lost and found his little Thomas twice in the last month. We purchased 2 new ones to calm his despair for the lost ones which have miraculously showed up and now Sam insists on playing with all 3. I have put my foot down and I only allow him to take one train with us everywhere we go. He is also starting to make up little Fibs well stories really. Here's his latest:
"Mom, I heard a noise in ahw house, I went to yook and it was a shawk. The shawk wanted to eat my fwiend Jackson, so I hit it wiff a basebaw bat, and that made the shawk gwumpy. But I skehwed (scared) it back into the wateh."
He also is really into narrating things that go on in the day. Especially if it was a significant event to him. Like, Mommy getting mad or getting a new toy or a friend pushing him. He will change his voice a bit when telling me what someone else said. When he is talking to me and saying "and then you say...." He always speaks in this ridiculously high voice. Do I really sound like that to him? Apperantly.

More good hair

So I just can't help but love Heidi Klum! I loooooved her hair at the Emmy's and, I mean obviously the girl can pull off anything but she tries so many things with her hair. I get really super tired of the the long wavy down hairstyles for every event show. I know everyone loves Jennifer Aniston's hair and I will give her color props.(people ask for this one all the time and it's is nearly impossible to dupicate) But if the girl wears her hair down and straight and parted in the middle one more time....

I would love doing this. I would love to be a stylist for the stars. Do I have the chops? I feel like I do. I feel like I can style just about anything. I go back and forth of wanting to go small with the hair stuff or big.....Everyone always says, "Oh that's so great you do hair because you can do it from home." That's what I always thought and planned. But I just cna't picture it at least at the moment. I like working at a salon. I think I always will.

So back to Heidi, Anyone know when Project Runway is going to happen? I'm getting a little anxious.

Georgia Peach

So my sister flew in from Georgia and stayed with me for a few days. She is the best! We had so much fun. She brought my neicey Reesie. I didn't get a picture of her for some strange reason. I need to be better at taking pictures. I really should just take my camera everywhere I go. The main reason she came out was to have me chop all her hair off. Another picture I don't have is a "Before" But Laurie has never had her hair above her shoulders. So you can imagine my surprise when she asked me to chop it. This is like the best thing in the whole world for a hairdresser. We started with chopping off a 10 inch pony tail and dark blonde color. The best was the process. At one point I could'nt even look at Laurie without busting up lauighing. She had probably 120 foils in her hair and color inbetween all the foils. I had to dye her eyebrows to complete the look..... and that was a little scary. When color oxidizes it darkens and expands..... yeah she was resembling bert... as in bert and ernie. A picture, although hillarious would have been too much of potential blackmail. We had fun though. I was expecting her to cry a little at least, she is such a long hair girl but her severred hair got no tears. Sam was also a fan of having Laurie and Reese stay with us. he was very interested in baby and really was lovin' on his auntie. She brought him a thomas the train book so she was a hit from the start. Also Sammy got to sleep in our room on a "Floor Bed." which consisted of couch cushins and a pillow. He kept rolling off and I would find him in various positions on the floor. There was one night where I woke up to him saying "Ouchie mama" He had rolled onto the floor and his entire head was under our bed and he kept running into the leg of our bed. He is not really happy about having to sleep in his own room tonight.

in general

So I have really enjoyed this whole blogging phenom. I really enjoy reading other peoples thoughts, ideas and happenings, but also keeping a bit of a journal. I have forgotten how much I enjoy writing. I don't do it at work, and at home the most I write is the shopping list and S-a-m over and over for the little guy. Sometimes I wish there were more interseting things happening in my life right now just so I could put them into words. I think it's just hard to justify doing things sometimes that are'nt necessary, and I suppose there necessity in keeping up with friends and family and jotting down how stinkin fun my 2 year old is.
I have worries, concerns and frustrations like any normal person but it really is nice to sit down and think of nice, interesting and funny things that have gone on in my day. I'm not sure they would stand out as much if they weren't written (or typed I guess)
So fun for the day would be... Sammy's new haircut. I took him to the salon this morning and gave him a sucker. He sat so good for me and let me snip away. He looks so grown up with it short which always shoots a mixed shock wave through me. I feel amazed at how big he is, that he's mine, that I'm sad he's big, how handsome he's getting.... yeah I guess hair does alot for me.

nursery happened!

This was the first time in Sam's little life that he went to nursery and there were no tears, and he stayed! I really could not believe it. I was about ready to tell the bishop that he may as well call me to nursery because I was going to be there anyway. I really wanted him to go becuase he is so attatched to his "people" (Mom, Dad, Grandma) I really fell like I need the break and he needs the social experience of it. So my sister-in-law suggested I stay with him for 5 minutes then leave for 5 minutes. then stay for 5 and leave for 10, and so on. I was skeptical but it WORKED! by the 3rd time I came back in there, he was sitting happily, eating crackers. I went to give him a hug and see how he was doing. I was probably a little over exuberant in my "good boy" praises. He just looked at me and said "Go to you class mom." Can 2 year olds be embarassed by their mothers? I suppose he looked a little uncool in front of his diaper wearing amigos.

this and that

Today was fairly uneventful. Work has been sort of slow lately. I generally lose a few clients around this time. College students graduate and move away, or they get married and Their husbands freak out over the cost of highlights. (It's expensive looking fabulous) Hopefully it will pick up in the next month or two. School is going well for Steve. His most commonly used phrase of late is "My brain hurts!" He is studying philosophy right now and it's just a whole new way of thinking that is really beyond me. Luckily I don't have to bother myself with it:) Sam is starting to become a little storyteller. Today he said, "I saw a shark in the den last night." He continued by telling me that a man caught the shark and the shark was shaking his head. I think he is going to be very imaginative. Here are some recent pics. Sam took a binky for maybe the first 2 months of life and all of a sudden he is very interested in them, he says" Where's my pinky mama?" He really likes to pretend he's a baby. He crawls around and does this funny squeak that to him is a baby noise.

I love him in overalls. He still looks like a baby when he wears them.

Daddy and Sam after church

This is the picture of the week. Poor girl, Quasimodo anyone?
So the theme of the week is "SPORTS!" I really didn't know what I got myself into when marrying fanatical Stevie Scott but I have adapted and embraced to some degree that there is no way around it, we are a sports family. So our stacked week; We had the first BYU football gamewhich Steve won tickets for at work, and the US open is going on at the moment. GO FEDERER! My dad is convinced that rooting for a foreigner is an act of treason but how can you not like Fed. Then Thursday marks the start of the new NFL season. The openener is between none other than the reigning super bowl champs, and our favorite team, The Colts, and the 2nd favorite football team (well Reggie bush) The Saints. Who will win? Who will lose? Don't know but it's sure to be a good game. We are also keeping our eye out for The Dolphins, GO John Beck!

Steve has been a very good Brainwashing Daddy and Sam can recite as follows.

Dad: Who's your favorite tennis player?

Sam: Roger! (Federer)

Dad: Where does he live?

Sam: um.... what's the crazy name? I don't weemembeh

Dad: Switzerland
Sam: oh yeah, Swizzeryand

Friday, August 24, 2007

Life is about to get really crazy. Steve's classes are really getting tough and the boy that can pull off "A"'s without studying is no longer I think. I'm sure I will steal a few moments here and there during study breaks. Tonight was date night which hasn't happened in a while. It's nice to be refreshed on how good conversation can be with someone you love. Well.... and someone you love that isn't in diapers. Oh yeah... the diaper thing. How in the heck do you potty train a boy? Anyone have any pointers? Maybe a good reference book or web site. Sam's 2 and a half. I guess it's time, right? I was talking about date night. No matter what I'm doing The conversation always goes to mommy stuff. Steve and I did talk about politics and concerts and 5 years from now and oh yeah, Sam.

Some good hair

So I having a really good hair day today. Well not my hair actually, my hair looked like crap, but as far as the level of hair genius-ness goes.... it was good. I sometimes just love corrective color. I love when to pull some ranodom hair color fact out of my head that I haven't needed since hair school and apply it to better the condition of someones coif. Hairstylist really do make a difference in the world!!!

You would think....

....I would post some pictures, at some point I will. You would also think that 2 months of living in a new place would be enough time to have things situated and organized. At least organized enough to have My Camera, USB cord and computer all at the same place at the same time. Let's just say organization escapes me. It will happen soon..... "She says with intent but free from conviction"
My baby is really the only new in my life, but he is so stinkin' great. (and sweet, brilliant, thoughtful, tidy, silly, obsessive compulsive, tender, loving, nervous, obedient, whiney, independent, amazing)

So my Sammy story of the day would be.....
I was attempting to snuff out the dingy basement smell from my carpet so I bought this powder stuff that you vaccuum up. I started to sprinkle the white powder all over that carpet. Sam knew I was going to vacuum up after and vacuuming makes this look nicer so his response to seeing all the stuff on the carpet was...... "the floor looks great mom! It looks so great." He can be the sweetest thing sometimes. His compliments can be so funny too. I went lingere shopping a little while ago, and I'm a mom so of course that's not a task I get to do solo. So I had my side kick with me and I decided to try something on.... which looked horrible and made me feel like never eating anything ever again. Sammy's response was " You look beautiful Mama! I yike you swim suit!" I perked up and shared some ice cream with him after I replaced the not so cute "swim suit" back on the rack"

poor girl

So the Fam went to the park yesterday. Steve and I were throwing a football around while Sam played. This dog ran out onto the field and his owner soon followed. She was having a hard time catching the runaway so Steve and I were trying to be helpful. she finally got him by the collar and was trying to drag him back home and he was'nt making it easy for her so I found a random tennis ball on the ground and I thought "Hey If i throw this call in the direction this girl trying to drag him he might have some incentive to go." I chucked it as hard as I could aiming for over the girls head.... Yeah it hit her smack in the back of the head. I threw that thing hard too. It's funny I guess becuase it was a tennis ball.

way overdue

Things have been a little nuts with me lately and I have been neglecting this blog. I guess better that than say my kid. Anyway Sam and I are a bit without a home. We are staying at my parents house... in their basement. My little brother is really the only one that has inhabited the downstairs to any degree and so They have mice.... yuck. I've tried to get rid of the little buggers and I think they are gone now luckily. But here are some cutey picture of my boys.

like daddy

Steve was laying down with a head ache and Sam insisted that he needed a band-aid.

This is Sams "smile" Whenever I point a camera at him and ask him to smile this is the face I get.
