Scrappy Saturday: Halloween Project Life Style

I told you I would be back….of course it’s Saturday so I also have my Scrappy Saturday project to share.  I decided to change things up and not use My Digital Studio for today’s page (don’t worry I have another layout to share soon) but today I’m embracing the Project Life style of memory keeping.  Stampin’ Up! sells some great products to help make your memory keeping quick and fun.  What’s also great is you can use our traditional products as well with this approach.  I recently participated in a demonstrator swap where we made our own Project Life cards using our Stampin’ Up! products.  Today’s page uses the two cards I made for this swap, perfect for Halloween and I designed them to coordinate so I was able to finish the page in less than 5 minutes.

I like my layouts to have dimension and with our framelits, ribbon, baker’s twine, and stamps I was able to create pocket inserts that match my need and have the extra layers and texture I enjoy.

Below is a list of products used on today’s layout and pocket inserts:

Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

Even if you aren’t into traditional or digital scrapbooking the Project Life approach is so fun and easy you should give it a try.  Stampin’ Up! has released some new limited edition projects for the Daily December memory keeping and I’m giving it a try and would love to show you how to take all those fabulous pictures you have on your phone (let’s be honest how often do they come off your phone to a medium you can enjoy in the future??) and into an album to enjoy and cherish.

Take care,

Diana

Scrappy Saturday: Historical Monologue Madness

As our adventure continues I wanted to continue sharing my Scrappy Saturday scrapbook pages.  Last wee Aidan had to give a monologue at school on the person he had been researching and writing a paper on, in this case Albert Einstein.  He really got into the idea of dressing up as his character and did a great job (it was so fun being able to go into school to help him get dressed and then watch his presentation).  I made this page using a predesigned template in My Digital Studio and then just added the title and text (the title was actually a comment a friend made on this picture I posted on Facebook and I thought it was perfect.

The list of digital products used on this page are below:

Scrappy Saturday and National Digital Scrapbooking Day: Trick or Treating Fun

Good evening!  What a fun weekend, it was great having Halloween on a Friday so we could relax and enjoy the evening and that carried through the weekend.  I know I'm a day late on my Scrappy Saturday post but I wanted to share this years Halloween page (it actually coordinates with the page I shared a couple of weeks ago from a Halloween party we attended).  Yesterday was also National Digital Scrapbooking Day so this is perfect and My Digital Studio really helped whip this up.

Aidan was Harry Potter and really had fun hanging out with friends, going through a haunted house.  Since I made this page to coordinate I used several of the same elements so that when the pages are viewed together they tie in.

Below is the supply list for the downloads used on today's page:

Scrappy Saturday: First Day of School

Good morning!  It's time for another Scrappy Saturday.  Today's page is for the first day of school this year.  I always love the excitement for the first day of school and all the new adventures that await.  For today's page I used My Digital Studio and one of the predesigned pages from the Game Day Photobook.  This is such a versatile download with it's neutral pallet.  All I had to do was change some colors to match the Pennington colors as well as a couple of accents and text items.  I read somewhere about including your child's signature in the first and last days of school layout so you can see how your child's writing changes through the year.  To add Aidan's signature I had him sign a notecard and the scanned it and turned it into a jpeg so I could add and crop it just like any other picture.

Below are the items used on this page:

Scrappy Saturday: Scout Camping Fun!

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  Today's World Card Making Day and it's a great time to enjoy time crafting and spreading the love and joy you give when you take the time to make and send a homemade card (I love seeing people light up when they receive a card and know some one's thinking of them, especially in this day of email, texting, etc.)

Today I'm back to share another scrapbook page I made for Scrappy Saturday.  This layout is for Aidan's summer scout camping trip.  This was his first time camping for multiple days were families weren't there and while some of the dad's attended it was the scouts first experience with what sleep away and scout camping is all about, and they had a BLAST!!!  He's already asking to go next year for a full week.  For the page layout I used My Digital Studio and a predesigned page from the Keep this Memory Photobook and then just changed the elements, added more picture boxes, and resized until it was what I wanted.  I will admit Chris isn't as good as I am at taking pictures, he only took one but thankfully one of the other dad's took some pictures and sent them to us and it was great to see the smiles on their faces (lifesaver!!)

Scrappy Saturday: Summer Fun

Happy Saturday!  We're looking forward to a fun weekend, the boys are heading for scout camping so mamma has the house to herself (and Mocha) so I'm looking forward to relaxing and crafting whoo hoo!  I know I've said it before but one of the things I love about My Digital Studio is that you can work on projects anywhere.  I created these two pages on he flight home from Washington State after visiting my family but forgot to share them.  I used some predesigned templates so I could pop in the photos, text, and a few embellishments, perfect.  Layouts don't always have to be over the top, it's about preserving the memories and special times.

Scrappy Saturday: Convention Project Life Fun

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  I know it's been awhile but I'm back with another addition of Scrappy Saturday and I have 4 pages to help make up for my absence.  One of the wonderful new products that Stampin' Up! released with the new catalog is Project Life by Stampin' Up!  This is a whole new way of memory keeping and is perfect for those of us who are busy but want to keep our photos and memories so they are safe and we can look at and enjoy them.  In addition to the pocket pages we have accessory kits and card packages which made this system so easy.  I made the 4 pages below in about 15 minutes using the 6x8" insert pages and some elements that we made a convention events. In addition there are Big Shot items used (the mustache, embossing, etc) punches, ribbon, and baker's twine to make it unique.

These are the first Project Life pages I completed and I love how they turned out, they definitely will not be my last.

I would love to share the Project Life by Stampin' Up! system with you and your friends, we can have a personalized girls night in party that would be lots of fun, so contact me to schedule your date.

Before I end I thought I would leave you a picture of where I'm spending the day today, Castaway Cay which is Disney's private island in the Bahamas.  This is just one of the reasons we love Disney cruising so much.

Have a great weekend,

Diana

Scrapy Saturday: Week 16

Happy Saturday!  I really love holiday weekends and the chance to spend that extra time with family, we really had a great time for the 4th of July and now it's time for Chris and I to head home and Aidan is going to spend a couple more weeks out in Washington with his grandparents, I love that he has this opportunity to see family that aren't close to us geographically.  So I'm back again with another scrapbook page, this one from the last day of school.  It really is great to see how kid's grow from the start of the year to the end, it's truly amazing.  This page came together really quickly, I used a predesigned template in My Digital Studio, and just added a picture, text, and embellishments.  The hardest part was adjusting the size of the text background to fit my text, and that wasn't really hard.

Scrappy Saturday: 15, I'm Back!

Good afternoon!  I hope you're enjoying your weekend.  So I have to admit, I've gotten a little behind on my weekly scrapbooking this month with all of the end of school and start of summer activities, but I'm not giving up and I'm back at it.  The great thing about My Digital Studio is I was able to bring my laptop on vacation and was able to not only organize some of my pictures on the computer but also completed two different scrapbook pages on one of our flights yesterday (until my battery died).  This page was a lot of fun, I used a photo only layout which kind of reminds me of the Project Life style of memory keeping and then I was able to add the background, text, and embellishments for a fun page that shows all the fun from our Cub Scout Family Camp outing from earlier this week.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Scrappy Saturday: Fall Baseball, Round Two

Happy Saturday!  I'm really looking forward to this weekend, this is the weekend every year that Chris is out of town for a work conference so it's a weekend that Aidan and I have lots of fun, just the two of us.  We had dinner last night and then today we're at it early for the Nokesville Day parade (Aidan's baseball team is riding in the parade) and then we have a baseball game in the evening so we'll be on the go all day.  Because of this I wanted to make sure to share this weeks scrapbook page with you before I forgot.  This weeks page is the corresponding page to last week and shares Aidan's baseball team photo from the fall season.

I used My Digital Studio and the Game Day Photobook to whip this page up in a flash.

Scrappy Saturday: Fall Baseball

Good evening!  What a wonderful day, we were on the go all day with Chris and Aidan heading to Pennington for Spring Fling while I worked on getting errands done before we were off to Aidan's baseball game.  We had rain which thankfully stopped long enough to get through most of the game.  Since our weekends have been full of baseball lately I decided to keep with the theme for this weeks scrapbook page.  Once again I used the Game Day Photobook Download and My Digital Studio to make this page and the coordinating page I'll share next week.  I love how the pages are already designed but that you can change anything you want.  I just popped in the pictures and edited them.  Added some graphics and text and recolored a couple of items and just like that I'm done.  This photobook is also great if you want to make a photobook for the team to commemorate all the teams highlights, it's great for any easy project and can completely customize it to your sport, colors, etc.

Scrappy Saturday: Opening Day Fun

Good morning and Happy Saturday!  Today is National Scrapbooking Day and I'm so excited to share a fun and easy layout I made for opening day of baseball which was last week.  One of the things I love about My Digital Studio is how easy it is to get your photos into a layout while everything is fresh and at anytime (I'll admit I made this page in my jammies last night).  Opening day was so fun and we're really looking forward to a great season.  I used the Game Day Photobook Digital Download and it's awesome, the pages are all designed and there are lots of great elements included that you can add to personalize the pages to your specific sport and I changed the colors of the elements to match our team colors.

Below is the supply list for the page so you can easily recreate it.  Since today's National Scrapbooking Day I hope you have the opportunity to to do something to help with your memory keeping (be it traditional, digital, hybrid, or even just taking pictures of friends and family to remember the day), every moment is special.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Diana

What a fabulous weekend!  I love all the sunshine and family time, nothings better.  This weeks scrapbook page is from the past New Year's Eve, we had a great time and a wonderful way to start 2014.  This was another super easy page thanks to My Digital Studio.  I used a predesigned template page and just added my pictures and text.  I did change the date since the template had 2013.  This is going to be the last page in my 2013 photobook and a great way to cap off a great year.

Below is a list of all the MDS supplies used on this page:

Scrappy Saturday: Week 10

We've arrived at the weekend, can I just say, whoo hoo!!!!  I've been kind of slacked lately sharing my weekly scrapbook page actually on Saturday so I wanted to make that right and share with you the cute page I made all about our dog, Mocha.  I'm part of a Facebook group specializing in My Digital Studio challenges and while I love the site and all the great pages I have been a stalker up to this point but I decided to play along with this sketch challenge which was all about a top heavy page.  Normally when I scrap I add lots of pages to the page but this layout has a lot of blank space so I thought this would be great to showcase a couple of cute pictures of our puppy.

Here's the sketch we were provided.  I decided to change things up a little but keep the basic feel.  This is a great sketch and I'll definitely be saving for future projects, and remember, even if you prefer traditional scrapbooking you can still use these sketches as inspiration for your page layouts (really will help get you started!)

There's all the details on the elements used on this page:

Scrappy Saturday: Weeks 7 and 8

The weekend has arrived and as you read this I'm standing in my race corral in downtown DC waiting for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon to start.  I've been training for this first race of the season all winter (despite all the snow and crazy cold) and I'm really excited to see the results of all the hardwork, so please wish me luck.  Things were really busy last weekend and while I had a new scrapbook page done I just forgot to share it so this week I'm sharing both pages for this layout together.  This page was from our Thanksgiving visit to PA where we visit our very close friends from college and their families.  This is something we do every year and really look forward to relaxing and having a great time (and the kid's have a great time, which is so fun to see).

I started with a predesigned page layout in My Digital Studio but changed the size from 8x8 pages to 12x12 pages to go along with the rest of my book and then added several elements, text, etc. to personalize it.  I like how this page really reflects the fun we have just hanging out together, we're so thankful for such great friends and family.  Below is the supply lists for both pages.

Are you keeping up with the goals you set at the beginning of the year?  I'm still going strong with my scrapbooking and get so much joy with each page I complete as I remember all the special times and can't wait to share this book for years to come.  There's still plenty of time for you to join me, if it's digital or traditional scrapbooking, it's all about making something for your family to remember for years to come.

Enjoy your weekend and I hope you get to enjoy time with your family as well as have some crafting time.

Scrappy Saturday: Week 6

Good evening!  I love how are weekends are always full of lots of fun activities and family time, it's really a lot of fun.  So I'm continuing to work on my 2013 photobook but I didn't share this weeks page since I was participating in a special blog hop yesterday.  So this weeks page was made using the pictures from Aidan's trip to my mom's house this past summer.  I love that for the past two years Aidan's been able to spend a couple of weeks out in Washington State visiting his grandparents, great grandparents, cousins, etc. it's a great time and really enjoys see family that he doesn't get to see regularly.  For this page I kept it nice and simple and use a predesigned template in My Digital Studio. All I had to do was add the photos, text, and embellishments and I was all set.

Below is the supply list for this page:

Scrappy Saturday (a little late): Week 5, The Start of 2014

Good morning all!  So I bet you thought I fell off the wagon with the scrapbooking goal....well actually I've been working on a special page in honor of Aidan's 9th birthday for a couple of weeks looking for the perfect pictures and then things were so crazy with the big birthday party that I forgot to actually share it.  So rather than not share I thought I would do so even if I'm a little late.

So for my first page of our 2014 photobook I wanted to do a page to commemorate Aidan's birthday and where he's come from so this page includes a picture for every year of his awesome life as well as a picture from his 9th birthday!  Aidan's such a fun and happy kid I love to look back at how he's grown and all his expressions and know that I'll cherish this page for years to come.    I made this page in My Digital Studio and since there are so many pictures I didn't had lots of embellishments, but I did include the supply list below the page so you have all the details.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: February 2014

Happy Monday!  What a wonderful weekend.  On Saturday we celebrated Aidan’s 9th birthday.  It’s amazing what a great person he’s growing into and I love to see every moment, even if I do wish he would have stayed smaller longer.  For his actual birthday we just had a family dinner at one of his favorite restaurants, Fogo de Chao and the big party with friends is next weekend so we avoid as many people being out of town for President’s Day and missing his party.  It’s the third Monday of the month, which means its scrapbook sketch day over on the Stylin’ Stampin’INKspiration blog and it’s another great sketch and I love all the inspiration created by the designers.  For my page I decided to use the technique of combining multiple photo blocks to show one picture (very cool and easy).  The photos on the page are from Young Author’s Day at Aidan’s school (the kids all have to write, illustrate, and create a book and then read it in front of the class) and is always a highlight for the end of the school year.  I joined Aidan in his class to hear him and his classmates read their books and it’s so great to see how excited he gets every time I come into school (I’m cherishing this since I know it won’t be long before he doesn’t want me to come in).  Aidan and his friend were really hamming it up so I thought it would be great to scrap this moment so he can always remember the fun times with classmates.

It’s really easy to add in all these different designer series paper elements, I just add punches and change them to the desired sizes and then used the “paper fill or photo fill” functions.  I prefer to do this over just adding page layers since then I can change the sizes of the paper images (in this case I made the patterns smaller).

I used MDS for this page and the supply list is included below:
Supply List

I'm also using this page for my Scrappy Saturday page as I continue to make progress.
I must admit, I typically like to add lots of pictures so it took a lot of restraint to not keep adding pictures to fully fill up the page but this is a great way to showcase just a couple of pictures.

I hope you enjoyed this page and I would love for you to check out the sketch and join in on the fun (it’s a great excuse to get those pictures and supplies out and make progress on your scrapbooking).  You can do either traditional, digital, or hybrid pages, it’s all up to you.  Just make sure to share you project on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog so we can all check it out!

Have a great day!

Scrappy Saturday: Week 4 (Technical Difficulties Will Not Get me Down)

Good evening!  Did you miss me yesterday?  I did you think I forgot to post my scrapbook page for this week?  As I promised last week I designed the coordinating page to last weeks layout and went to save the file so I could share it and there seems to be a problem with my photobook file and I couldn't open it (trust me, I'm trying not to panic and am hoping Stampin' Up can help fix it) so I wasn't able to share the page I originally designed.  But I didn't want to let you own so I use one of the predesigned page templates in My Digital Studio to create this page for our visit with Santa while we were at Disney before our Christmas cruise.  I love these templates since all the hardwork is done, all I did was alter the page size (the template is 8x8 and my photobook is a 12 x 12, modified the photoboxes and then added my photos.  The final touch was to add some text and some mats around the photos.

I love that I can either create projects from scratch or use predesigned templates in MDS, it really does make it the perfect program for every person, and every need.  If you haven't tried MDS you really should, you can even download a FREE 30-Day version of the software so you have nothing to lose.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that next week I'll have great news and I'll be able to share the other page I designed.
