Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #69

Happy Sunday!  What an amazing time!  I’ve having so much fun this weekend at Disneyland and this morning I’m running my last race, the Tinkerbell Half Marathon.  It’s so much fun running through the parks, seeing the characters, costumes, spectators, and everything, it really makes for a memorable experience.  Of course since it’s Sunday it’s time for the weekly Can You Case It? Sketch challenge and I decided to pull out a new stamp set, From the Herd, and enjoy some time coloring with this card.

I started with Tangerine Tango cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with a piece of Birthday Bash Speciality Designer Series Paper along the bottom.  I used Black Memento ink to stamp the main image and then a mix of my Blendabilites markers and Stampin’ Write Markers to color in all the fun barn animals.  For the two little flags I not only used a different pattern of DSP from the same package but also used a piece of Pear Pizzaz Chevron Ribbon.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and is stamped on Night of Navy cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with the Heat Tool and Whisper White Embossing Powder.

What do you think, too much?  These guys are too cute!!  I had been looking at this stamp set but hadn’t got it yet and then I received it free for a Stampin’ Up! event I went to last weekend (love being a SU demo) so I knew I had to use it, and come on we all used to love to color as kids and I’ll tell you it’s still as relaxing today!  The designers are sharing some other great cards so go check them out for further inspiration and come play along, you can use this for any project you need, card, scrapbook page, home décor, etc.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Funny Cards: Just Kidding

Happy April Fools Day!  We've been having a wonderfully relaxful week which is just what we've been looking for.  We always like to have a little good natured fun so we'll see what the day holds.  Today, over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog we're sharing funny cards in honor of April Fools Day.  Last month Stampin' Up released the lastest photopolymer stamp set, Just Kidding, and it's got some great cheeky humor that's perfect for today.

I started of with Soft Sky for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Gray cardstock that's embossed with the Big Shot and Delicate Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Cherry Cobbler DSP from the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack that I punched out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.

For the main stamped image I stamped this sassy little lady from the Just Kidding stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Whisper White cardstock.  I colored in the image using blendabilities markers before punching it out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.  The greeting was stamped on Smoky Slate cardstock, punched out with Decorative Label Punch and then sponged around the edge with Cherry Cobbler ink.  The final touch was to add a Bermuda Bay button from the Brights Decorative Buttons and tied a bow using Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine.

Sometimes you really need a fun card, for those special friends and this stamp set is perfect for just those very occasions.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: A Happy Thing

Happy Friday peeps!  The return of warmer weather has made such a difference this week, I love it!  Looking forward to a fun weekend that’s going to be focused on Aidan’s Basketball playoffs and I have a fun class on Sunday so I can’t wait!  Before all the fun and craziness begins it’s time for our weekly Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch challenge.  I designed this weeks challenge and it’s always fun to see what is generated from an easy basic layout.  Since this is the last month of Sale-a-Bration I’ve been getting as much use and fun out of all the great products I earned for FREE while I can (well there’s nothing to say I won’t continue to use some of these products for my personal projects but I know Stampin’ Up' has even more fun in store for us this spring and I’ll have new things to play with).

I started with Old Olive for the cardbase and then added a piece of Typeset Speciality Designer Series Paper (I know I’ve told you in the past how fun this paper is but it really is great!)  I did fold the bottom right corner at a right angle for a little fun and added a Daffodil Delight Candy Dot (from the Brights Candy Dots).  For the stamped image I stamped the lemon from the A Happy Thing stamp set in Memento Ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then colored it in with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Blendabilities Markers (I created this card before the Blendabilities were discontinued and will continue to enjoy my markers but you can get a similar effect by using your blender pens and Classic Ink Pad.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Old Olive ink.

Along the top of the Very Vanilla Piece I used my Spiral Punch to punch along the top before matting with Daffodil Delight cardstock.  The final touch was to add some Old Olive 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon (this is one of my favorite ribbons since it’s so soft and lays flat when knotted which is great for mailing).

I had a lot of fun with this card, in fact so much fun that we made this as one of the cards in last months card class.  This lemon image definitely makes me think warm, spring and summer thoughts which we all need after this winter.  The other design team members shared some great cards as well so please go check them out and then play along with the sketch, I would love to see what you come up with.

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #59

Good morning! It's going to be another great Sunday and we're supposed to get another set of winter weather, really I think we've had enough. I decided to use this weeks Can You Case It? sketch challenge to help me get in the spring time mood.  The A Happy Thing stamp set has this cut little bird and is perfect for coloring using the Blendabilities markers.  I started with Bermuda Bay cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Old Olive cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Fancy Frames Embossing Folder (I decided to change things up and leave the bottom of the cardstock unembossed so I could add the greeting).  The greeting is from the And Many More stamp set and was stamped in Night of Navy ink.

For the main stamped image I stamped the bird from the A Happy Thing stamp set in Black Memento Ink and then colored it in with Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive Blendabilities Markers.  I used Night of Navy for the mat behind the stamped image.  I used some Sticky Strip to attach a piece of Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon along the bottom of the stamped image and then added a couple of staples using the Handheld Stapler.

Isn't this bird cute?  I can't wait to start seeing the birds heading back as spring comes around so we can say goodbye to snow and cold for this season.  I also have lots of friends with upcoming birthdays so it's always good to stock up my card stash so I'm ready when  we need it.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Get Your Santa On Christmas Thank You

Happy Friday!  I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas, ours was nice and quiet and relaxing which was perfect.  It's always great to see all the join the Christmas season brings to each of us.  Now that the frenzy is over it's time for the clean up to begin and we get to continue to have fun, we don't head back to work until next year.  Of course I had to make one more Christmas card for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge  but since the holiday is over I decided to use this for one of my Christmas thank you cards (I'm going to need a lot of these to thank people for all the lovely gifts we've received).  I designed this weeks sketch and wanted to provide something that was open to lots of possibilities for fun.

I started with Sahara Sand cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  The greeting is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set and was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.  I also used the Paper Piercing Tool and the Essentials Paper Piercing pack to  punch the accent element in the top right corner.  The flags of patterned paper are from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack and cut with flag tails.

For the main stamped image I used the Get Your Santa On stamp set and stamped it in Memento Ink before coloring it in with Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities markers and the Basic Gray Stampin' Write Marker.  After coloring in the Santa suit I cut the piece out with the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits.  The mat was cut out of Garden Green cardstock and cut using the Window Collection Framelits and then embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folderDimensionals were used to help pop the stamped image off the cardfront and I added a small bow made with some Silver 1/8" Ribbon.

The card turned out so fun, it's really helping me embrace every last minute of this holiday season, I don't want it to end.  Make sure to check out he cards the other design team members are sharing and then come play along with the extra time you have this weekend.

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge Meets SSI Stamp Focus for Fall Gratitude Greetings

Good morning!   I have to admit I love doing this gratitude challenge each year but it’s a lot of work, I’m impressed with people who are able to craft and be creative every day.  I wish I had the time but like most of us there are lots of priorities that all pull on my time and we’re managing priorities to get everything done, but showing appreciation is so important.  For today’s gratitude card, I decided to combine the Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge and the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog stamp set focus, Truly Grateful for a really pretty card.  I used Sahara Sand for the cardbase and then added a layer of Cajun Craze cardstock that’s embossed with the Big Shot and Chevron Embossing Folder.  I added a piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper that was matted with Mossy Meadow cardstock and some Mossy Meadow 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon was wrapped around the DSP layer.  I also added a couple flags of DSP showcasing the coordinating colors and patterns.

For the main stamped image I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and I stamped the Chevron woodgrain image from the Truly Grateful stamp set (love this image!!) in Sahara Sand ink.  I stamped the greeting in Cajun Craze ink and the acorn was stamp in Soft Suede ink twice (once on the background stamped piece and a second time on a piece of scrap Very Vanilla cardstock).  I used Stampin’ Write Markers and a blender pen to color in the acorn before cutting it out with Paper Snips.  The acorn was attached with a dimensional.  The final touch was to add 3 pearls along the bottom of the DSP piece (I used the darkest Wisteria Wonder Blendabilities Pen to color the pearl before attaching it to the cardbase).

This is such a great stamp set, I’ll admit when it was first released I wasn’t WOW’d by it but then I started playing and really fell in love (and was so happy when the stamp set was carried over into this catalog).  Not only does it make great fall cards but it works great for masculine cards as well.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Masculine Monday: Lovely as a Tree

Happy Monday!  We had a wonderful weekend and today I'm starting the week over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog where it's Masculine Monday so the designers are sharing great ideas for "dude" cards.  Today's card I made for my Grandmpa as he celebrates his 87th birthday.
I used Lost Lagoon for the cardbase and then added a piece of Soft Suede cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Alphabet Press Embossing folder and then sponged over the cardstock with Soft Suede ink to help emphasize the embossed images.  Next I took a piece of DSP from the Color me Autumn Designer Series Paper and matted it with Cajun Craze cardstock.  I also added a piece of Lost Lagoon 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon and gathered it up using Sticky Strip to attach.

The stamped image is from the Lovely as a Tree and I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink the stamped image before stamping.  I used Crushed Curry cardstock for the mat and sponged around the edges of both layers with Soft Suede ink.  The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and was stamped in Cajun Craze ink, punched out with the Word Window Punch and sponged with Soft Suede Ink.  I used the Modern Label Punch to punch the mat with Lost Lagoon cardstock and added a couple of pearls that I colored with the Crumb Cake Blendabilities markers to coordinate with the card.

This is a perfect card for those fall birthdays and other occasions and this stamp set is a classic!

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Bloom with Hope

Happy Friday!  Looking forward to a beautiful and relaxing weekend, love this time of year.  Today I'm sharing my design team card for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  This is a great sketch and the designers really came up with some great ideas so I hope you can check them out and play along.  For my card I started with Sahara Sand for the cardbase and added layers of Basic Black cardstock and some DSP from the In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.

For the main stamped image I decided to play with the Blendabilities markers and the Bloom with Hope stamp set.  I stamped the flower in Memento Ink (this is a fabulous black ink and I now use it whenever I need black) and then colored the flower in with Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Coastal Cabana Blendabilities markers (it's fun to just relax and color).  I cut out the flower using the Big Shot and the Oval Collections framelits (do you know that these are currently on sale as part of this weeks Weekly Deals, awesome!!!) and cut a matching mat out of Old Olive cardstock.

For the greeting I used the Endless Birthday Wishes Stamp set (did you know that with the photopolymer stamps you can bend them when you attach them to your clear blocks to get different shapes?  I made mine curve along the bottom to match the shape of the oval and stamped it in Daffodil Delight ink.  I added some fun ribbon details, including a bow out of 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon and a couple of little flags using the Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon (it coordinates quite well) and the Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon.

This card is lots of fun and sure to brighten someone's day, just because.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Mingle all the Way

Happy Friday!  Are you just loving the new Holiday catalog as much as I am?  I have so say, we got to see it at convention last month and I knew immediately I was in trouble, I needed the “I Want it All Button!”  Of course that’s not realistic so I decided to start first with Halloween and Fall products since those holidays are coming up first and the Fall Fun Framelits are AMAZING!

For this card I started with Sahara Sand cardstock and then added a piece of Motley Monster Designer series paper (too cute!) that was matted with Basic Black cardstock.  The greeting is from the Mingle All the Way stamp set, another favorite, and was stamped in Tangerine Tango ink, cut out with the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits, and matted with a Bermuda Bay circle.

Of course I need more spooky fun so I added a ghost I made using the Fall Fest Stamp set and coordinating Fall Fun Framelits (do you know you can purchase both these items as a bundle and save 15%?).  I used some White Stazon Ink to stamp the ghost on Basic Black cardstock before cutting him out with the framelit, so easy! For a final accent I added two pieces of trim, Natural 5/8” Chevron Trim (it’s awesome that this ribbon only is printed on one side for double the possibilities) and the new White & Tangerine Tango Two Tone Trim.

There are so many fun products to help you make wonderful projects for all your fall and holiday projects, I know I have so many ideas in my head I just need the time.

Make sure to check out all the other great projects the design team is sharing and come play along with the sketch, so many possibilities.

Also just another reminder that you only have a few more days, until Sunday to take advantage of the amazing Big Shot special where you can get a stamp set and framelit bundle for FREE when you purchase a Big Shot or save 15% on the selected  bundles if you already own a Big Shot, this is not to be missed!
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: Bloom with Hope

Happy Friday!  Just a few short hours before we get to start the weekend and while I miss my kiddo I'm very exited to have an entire weekend with the hubby, just to two of us.  We don't have lots of elaborate plans but that's OK.  Before all the fun gets started it's Friday, which means it's time for another card sketch challenge over on the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog.  We have a really fun sketch this week so I decided to pull out lots of new catalog goodies and play.  The cardbase is Sahara Sand and I added a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock that's embossed with the Big Shot and the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.  Next I added a strip of DSP from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack and matted it with Old Olive cardstock.

For the main stamped image I used the Bloom with Hope Hostess stamp set and stamped it with Momento Ink and then colored in the flower with Coastal Cabana and Old Olive Blendabilities markers (these markers are so much fun and work so well with our Whisper White cardstock, you really do have to give them a try).  This piece of cardstock was punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to create a fun detail on the top and have a place to add some Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon

I matted the stamped tag piece with some Sahara Sand cardstock with the Big Shot and Fancy Fans Embossing folder.  The final touch was to stamp the greeting using the same stamp set with Coastal Cabana ink and then punched it out with the Modern Label Punch.  I did sponge around the edge of the label with Sahara Sand ink before attaching it to the card with dimensionals.

This card has so many fun textures and details that really work well together, it turned out even better than I thought.  Make sure to check out all the other design team cards and come play along with our challenge (we would love to see what you come up with and show you some love).  This would definitely help make a friends birthday extra special.
