Tuesday Tip - punch it out!

If you're a regular follower of my blog, you will know that last week I declared Tuesdays as "Tuesday Tip" day. I want to be able to share a useful tip each week (or as often as I realistically can) for using your Stampin' Up! products. Today's tip involves using punches, which are definitely one of my most favorite Stampin' Up! products.

Have you ever stamped an image on a scrap of paper....

Only to find out that the scrap wasn't big enough for you to put inside the punch...

Now, you can probably maneuver it with your thumb to get it just right, but that's not always accurate (and most often, frustrating!)...

So, find a sticky note (big or small) and attach it to your paper you want to punch out...

Hold onto the sticky note and put the paper inside the punch...

And there you have it...

Now you can use every little last scrap of paper...even for punching.

If using a larger size sticky note, you can reuse it quite a few times before needing to get another one.

If you missed last week's Tuesday Tip, check it out HERE.

P.S. I think it's evident that I could really use a manicure! *wink*

3/$5 Card Making Night - September

I started my 3/$5 card making nights again after taking a break in August. I was so excited to get back into this, not only to have friends over, but to do a little more stamping again! I like having these events because it gives me the chance to get in my craft room and play with all of my "toys"!

I had seen this "four square" concept in my search for finding a cute Fall-themed card and this is what I finally came up with after fiddling around with it for a little bit.

Stamp Sets: Season Of Friendship

Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Cajun Craze

Accessories: 1 1/4" striped Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
This was one of those cards I created that I was so happy with the way it turned out that I couldn't wait to share it with others! I spent a lot (and I mean A LOT) of time trying to come up with this design. I'm such a perfectionist!!

Stamp Sets: On Your Birthday

Paper: Rose Red, Regal Rose (flowers), Pink Pirouette (heart/scalloped oval), Old Olive (branch), Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand (owl eyes), Whisper White, Rose Red DSP

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Two-Step Owl Punch, Rose Red double-stitched grosgrain (retired), silver brads, Little Leaves Sizzlits Die, dimensionals

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I CASEd this card from the wonderfully and super talented Andrea Walford. I wanted something a little quicker and easier to reproduce, so I simplified it a bit.

Stamp Sets: Perfect Punches

Paper: Whisper White, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Sunny Garden DSP (love!)

Ink: Early Espresso

Accessories: oval punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates, dimensionals

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Just yesterday, I did a 3/$5 Christmas card workshop...I'll be back later to share those cards, as well!

peeking in...

I can't believe it's been a month since I've last posted...I have so much craftiness to share!

This past Sunday I was able to hold a workshop for a good friend of mine and 14 of her friends! She wanted to do a tea/craft afternoon, so I designed a free make n take and she made all the delicious tea treats and we had a fun couple of hours of being with friends and crafting.

One of the newest punches that Stampin' Up! has to offer is the Two-Step Owl Punch. I just had to have it and I knew that this workshop would be the perfect chance to use it. I think all the ladies loved the card we created. I so wish I could take credit for coming up with this card because it's absolutely adorable, but the super talented Jill Hilliard at Jill's Card Creations used her brilliance to create the card I was inspired by. I pretty much CASEd it exactly, but did a few minor tweaks since I don't own the woodgrain background stamp she used on the front of the card. I just love that the owl is "peeking" through the hole.

~inside of card~

I wanted to have a little something extra for the guests to create, so we made punch art. I found this adorable card online and wanted to have everyone make one of those lambs. Aren't they adorable?!

Come on back...I'll have more to share soon!

This set is called Fox & Friends. It is the cutest little set and can be used for so many things, especially kid birthday cards.

Here are some cards I have made using Fox & Friends.

*FYI: the patterned paper you see used in three of the four cards shown below is from the Sweet Pea Paper Stack which was originally in the Occasions Mini Catalog (and a favorite of mine!). Unfortunately, due to high demand, it is no longer available and out of stock.

more card swaps!

A little over a week ago, I attended another Stampin' Up! downline meeting, and again we brought cards to swap! Since I had just hosted my kid-friendly birthday card making night, I decided to bring the rocket birthday card from this post to give to everyone.

This first card was created by Debra Easter. I was happy to see a card that uses a stamp set that I own! This card was made using the stamp set One of a Kind and the Filigree Designer Brads for the middle of the flower. The Designer Series paper used is retired.

*******************************************

Off the topic of card swaps for a minute...

Seeing the above card reminds me of a project I created for my first open house back in March. The stamp set One of A Kind is one of the first Stampin' Up! sets I owned, so I used it for the 3-D project at my open house. This is the candy pouch we made using the One of A Kind set...

*******************************************

Back to card swaps...

I love this next card because it used many of the punches Stampin' Up! sells to create the snowman and birdie. I'm on the hunt for fun Christmas ideas, so it was great to get a little early Christmas sample. I love the scalloped edge on the right hand side of the card to finish off the look! This one was created by Cindy Becker.

Unfortunately, there weren't many swaps that evening, but thankfully my direct upline and friend, Andrea Botten, pulled through for me and ended up giving me TWO cards to help inspire me! Andrea has great taste and nice card quality. I love this because I think we're a lot alike, which helps us be able to share our ideas with each other...and actually like those ideas! *wink*

This first one is pretty simple, but that's what I like about it. Sometimes I see cards that are so complicated that I don't even want to attempt it. This uses the awesome set called Wonderful Favorites. It's only words, but it can be used for so many things. She also used the Stars #2 Original Die with the Big Shot die cutting machine.

This next one Andrea used for one of her card making nights. Is this not super cute!? This card is made using the Bugs & Kisses stamp set. This set is on my wish list for sure! It would make some great kid cards don't you think? My favorite thing is definitely the little magnifying glass made with circle punches and the Word Window Punch.

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at some creative cards made by others. It's always fun to be able to share ideas and have samples on hand for workshop events. Speaking of workshops...I'll be doing a workshop in a couple of weeks that introduces some products from the new mini-catalog that was just released on September 1st. It's available online now if you would like to take a peek!
