Featured Artist Week: Joanne Schempp - Card by Holley

Here's my card for the Featured Artist Joanne Schempp.  This wonderful Halloween theme image is called Tabitha.  What a gorgeous witch, complete with her cats and her jack o'latern.  She is available in digital format currently.  I am using some awesome glittered paper from Making Memories called Toil&Trouble to create a wonderfully wicked Halloween theme card.

Here's a close up of the Tabitha image from Joanne Schempp:
Be sure and check out all of Joanne's images this week, she has both rubber stamps as well as digital stamps at Sweet Pea.

As an extra goodie this week, I am using a brand new image from artist Regan Kubecek named Trixie.  Isn't she gorgeous?  She's just perfect for Halloween.  I added a wonderful sentiment for her from Sweet Pea Stamps Plate #67.  I found an adorable cat embellishment to match.  I am using some printed transparency as décor and some shimmery mica cardstock from Paper Temptress.

Here's a wonderful closeup of this adorable stamp from Regan Kubecek, that is available both in Rubber Stamp format as well as digital stamp format.
Be sure and check out all the wonderful Halloween theme stamps at the Sweet Pea store.  I am so enjoying making lots of fun cards for the holiday.

Cheers, Holley

Meet Weena

Here's a stunning image from Sweet Pea artist Joanne Schempp called Weena. I love how she is blowing bubbles with the cat's images in them. This stamp image is just amazing. I don't think it has to be a Halloween theme card, but I am a huge halloween card lover, so I turned it into one.

It didn't really start that way, even when I colored the image, that was not my intention at all, but I found this wonderful shimmery purple paper and these adorable black cat decor, which of course reminded me of a great saying that Sweet Pea stamps has "When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleem, may luck be yours on Halloween." (Plate #67)

Here's a closeup of my coloring of Weena, you can compare this to the artists coloring to see how different she looks.

I think she would look beautiful in other colors too. I just love her striped knee high socks, I think I am starting to dress like the girls in these stamps now! Hmmm....

Happy Easter Everyone.

Cheers, Holley

Bubble Bubble

Hi everyone :) For my card today, I decided to ink up this adorable image from Sweet Pea Stamps. This particular image is illustrated by Elaine Cox and you can find it HERE. Isn't she cute? I colored the image with copics and then added Glossy Accents to the liquid in the cauldron and the bubbles (this is hard to see in the photos). Once the Glossy Accents was dry, I added some Stardust Stickles to the bubbles as well. I also added stickles to the fire. Next I created my card base out of SU cardstock. My DP is from MME and Cosmo Cricket. I also added an orange ribbon and a double looped bow (tied with my bow easy). For some finishing touches, I added a Prima flower, and a rose from Wild Orchid Crafts. What do you think?

Well, that's it from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs, Christine

Little Stars Witch

Happy Halloween! Continuing with my love of the season, I am making another Halloween theme card. This cute witch was designed by artist Elaine Cox and is called Little Stars Witch. She comes on a wonderful plate (plate #59) full of Halloween images along with adorable owl images that are good for all sorts of themes. The wonderful saying on this card comes from another sheet of Elaine Cox stamps, plate #67, to go with the saying, I added some adorable dimensional black cat stickers and some bling that was sparkly and black as well as some glitter on the cats and some bling to the flowers. Hope you have a wonderful time making your own Halloween cards!
Cheers, Holley

Boo-tiful scenery

I've had a blast working on today's card. I have used the very sweet trick or treat stamp from sweetpea stamps, designed by Elaine Cox. The little owl is also a part of the stamp and aren't they the cutest pair you've ever seen? I really love Sweet Pea stamps as they are so easy to work with. Even with a theme like Halloween that I've never really celebrated they make it easy. It's almost like having a friend helping you out while you work :)

I started out with the house that I had laying around, cut out in Halloween paper using a qk die. As we don't celebrate Halloween in Sweden like the US I don't have many H papers. This is actually a scrap from a paper I bought years ago and keep using every year - I still haven't run out. It's a perfect way to use those smaller pieces not to mention a cheap way to make a card. As you can see it mainly consists of cardstock which is the most basic thing you can get. Both cheap and always available.

For the four background panels I have used four different cuttlebug embossing folders. The "boo" sentiment is from the same embossing folder as the green panel. I embossed it and cut out with a circle nestie that had the perfect size. I cut out an orange circle in bling cardstock using a circle nestie. The black tree is from the same set as the house and the black bat is a single qk die. The little witch and owl is coloured with promarkers.

Here are the lyrics to the song that works quite well with this card. It's from the movie  A Nightmare before Christmas:

Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?

Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It's our town, everybody screm
In this town of Halloween

I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red

I am the one hiding under yours stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair

This is Halloween, this is Halloween

Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

In this town, don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise

Round that corner, man hiding in the trash cam
Something's waiting no to pounce, and how you'll...

Scream! This is Halloween
Red 'n' black, slimy green

Aren't you scared?

Well, that's just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take a chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night

Everybody scream, everybody scream

In our town of Halloween!

I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace

I am the "who" when you call, "Who's there?"
I am the wind blowing through your hair

I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
Halloween! Halloween!

Tender lumplings everywhere
Life's no fun without a good scare

That's our job, but we're not mean
In our town of Halloween

In this town

Don't we love it now?

Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back
And scream like a banshee
Make you jump out of your skin
This is Halloween, everyone scream
Wont' ya please make way for a very special guy

Our man jack is King of the Pumpkin patch
Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

La la-la la, Halloween! Halloween! [Repeat]

Trick or Treat?

I declare this stamp a treat! What an adorable little witch. This stamp comes from a sweet set designed by artist Elaine Cox called Trick or Treat (Plate #67). I just love the wonderful Halloween stamps in this set. The saying I used on this card also comes from Plate #67."When witches go riding, and the black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, 'tis near Halloween." What a wonderful sentiment for the holiday! I used great Copic Markers for the image and added cute dimension candy corn stickers and matching polka dotted sheer ribbon and Jack-o-Lantern brad to finish the simple design.

Hope this inspires your Halloween designs. Cheers, Holley

Something Witchy this way comes....

Here she is, the most adorable mini witch stamp from Sweet Pea artist Elaine Cox. She calls this one "Best Friends." Too sweet. There's a whole sheet of these adorable witch stamps that are just perfect for your Halloween themed cards.I also added a great Sweet Pea saying "Have a 'boo'tiful day!" Hope this card makes all of you ready to do some great Halloween cards.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah, DCWV Metallic); Rubber stamps (Sweet Pea Stamps); Border Punch (Martha Stewart); Sewn Border(Linda Weber); Ink (Memento, Colorbox Chalk); Brads (Around the Block, Bo Bunny); Adhesives (Pop Dots, Glue All);

BONUS PROJECT!!!!

Elegant Lady on the Moon
This stamp is an elegant image from Artist ching-chou kuik in her Fantasy Art line for Sweet Pea Stamps. My version here looks so very different from her original coloring on the website. I thought this image could also be converted into a Halloween style image if you liked. The stamp is called "Time Flies."This card folds down the center. To ensure that it opens of course, adhere the image to only half of the fold. I used a lot of white ink to make the coloring on the backdrop of the card lighter and silkier. I wanted it to look like fabric, like the image is floating on top. Then I added a row of small buttons on each side of the crease where the card folds together.

Project Materials: Cardstock (Bazzill, Neenah); Rubber Stamps (Sweet Pea Stamps); Ink (Memento, Versamark); Buttons (Jesse James buttons); Adhesives (Popdots, Glue Dots, Double stick tape); Color (Copic Markers);

Happy Stamping!!
Holley
