17 Book Inspired Nail Art that will Inspire YOU!

I am a HUGE fan of nail art and every time I see someone use their magic nail art powers, I hate myself a tiny bit for not having any artistic talent because holy nailgasm, those peeps are so talented. My nails are envious, haha. So I have decided to compile a few of my favorite book inspired nail art that left my inner fangirl flailing. Get ready to get wow-ed, you guys. (They are randomly ordered, it is just way too hard to rank my favorites. I was also super tempted to include Frozen nail art but I resisted.)

  • Nicole, the goddess responsible for these gorgeous Daughter of Smoke and Bone inspired nails, definitely channeled her inner Karou. The detail - I mean, look at the feather!! - on the nails look great! (Inspired by: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor)

In Which Louisse Becomes Famous: A Recap

Back in November 2012, my mom received a super cool e-mail from Fully Booked (a local bookstore here in the Philippines) and she called me during my debate training to tell me about it. A lot of screaming and maybe even some jumping ensued during this phone conversation. There was a lot of this:
This:
This:
And maybe even a little bit of this:

Yup. And my debate teammates being insanely reasonable people who cannot handle crying or emotions in general (I'm kidding) said something a little bit like this:
And this:

So yeah, it was a pretty eventful afternoon in the debate room. And when I got home after that, my mom and I discussed said e-mail and we talked about a lot of books (Fifty Shades of Grey may have been mentioned during this chat.) We were asked to pick our Top 3 books (Three books! It was like Mission Impossible for us to pick our Top 3.) for an interview with the people from Fully Booked. It was insanely shocking (and flattering) to be invited to be a part of such a project.

So the day came for our interview and what I had were three books, a dress and lots and lots of nerves. To say I was nervous I would have been the biggest understatement of the century. Okay, I was excited too but mostly nervous. I was afraid that I'd mess up but the lovely people from Fully Booked (Hi Miss Victoria and co!) were so nice and welcoming that I couldn't help but feel comforted when it began. Here's a stolen shot my mom took during the photoshoot:
Thanks, Mom!
So yeah, it turned out pretty well after I got over my initial shyness and nervousness. After it happened, I just felt relieved that I survived. Haha! But it was definitely a great experience and I absolutely felt honored being a part of such a project. In the end, all there was left was to wait.

After some time, I got another e-mail from the lovely Miss Victoria (not much screaming happened since my mom was in Hong Kong when we were contacted again) with some details about the final product so we were was pretty excited to see it in real life. My mom and I's solution to this? We stalked the Greenhills branch of Fully Booked every other day to see if they'd put it up. And when we finally saw the poster, my mom and I almost took it. Haha... Kidding! Or maybe not. The poster itself is very pretty. I love the simplicity of it and everyone looks so happy! Here it is:
(Source: Taken from the Fully Booked website. Thanks!)
There she is! Hee! I think it turned out really great and it really shows a sense of diversity because of the fact that there are so many genres being presented in the picture. (And if you're wondering, I'm the one at the bottom holding up a copy of Pushing the Limits by Katy McGarry. Just saying. Haha!) And here's the interview we did with Fully Booked about characters:

(Source: From the Fully Booked YouTube channel.)

It's really cool hearing about how others relate with characters even in such fantastical stories. It's amazing when you hear a reader tell you that they found a connection with a character in a book, even if it's the villain of the book or the weirdest of characters. There's a sense of belongingness you won't find anywhere else but within those pages. I feel so deep right now. And did you hear me gush about Unspoken and Kami? Yes, the Kami who is my girl crush. (Check out my review of it HERE. Read Unspoken! Eeeee.) The other ladies in the video were so lovely too. I loved hearing about their experiences with their books and their connection with the characters in them.

Well that concludes my post. If you want to watch more videos of the people in the What's Your Story project click HERE. I would like to send the biggest THANK YOU to the lovely people at Fully Booked who made this all happen and who are generally just wonderful people. Big hugs! Oh and thank you so much to the lovely authors who wrote those books because I wouldn't have been able to fall in love with them if you hadn't written them. Big kisses!
This is probably the corniest gif I have ever used in my whole gif-using life.

The GODDESS of My Heart

I cannot express how much I love the Starcrossed trilogy. It was during the early months of 2011 when I first read about it and of course, I was intrigued with the premise and enthralled by the cover. So thus begun my journey of trying to find out as much as I could about the series. And then I met the lovely Josephine Angelini on Twitter and we hit it off. It was probably my penguin badassery that got us pretty close and now, I can say that Josephine Angelini is one of my closest author friends. It was an absolutely joy being a part of Team Starcrossed and it was great meeting new people through the books. And because of this, my heart almost broke when the cover of Goddess was released. It wasn't because I didn't like it, nope because I bloody love the cover, it most likely because I'll be saying good-bye to one of my most favorite books ever and seeing the cover just made it all the more final. To those who haven't seen the stunning cover, here it is:

Title: Goddess (Starcrossed #3)
Author: Josephine Angelini
Publisher: HarperTeen
Publication date: May 28th 2013
Pre-order the book: Amazon /Barnes and Noble

After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.

To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.

In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.
(Summary from Goodreads)

I know that I'm probably going to cry throughout the whole book or maybe even rock back-and-forth depressingly. I'm going to be so sad seeing this series end but I'm also going to be so excited to read any of Josephine Angelini's future works. I honestly cannot wait to read Goddess and I know that Josephine Angelini will end this series not with a flutter but with a gigantic and shocking BOOM. To those of you who have not read her books, I suggest you go and pick them up now because you are missing A LOT. Well, see you on the flipside, everyone!

My review of Starcrossed (HERE) and Dreamless (HERE).

If this doesn't show I'm devoted, I dunno what will. But why do I feel like something's missing...?

Ah. Much better. ;)

Always a fan.

Top Six Hottest Bookish Guys I'd Want to Date!

These are the Top Six Guys I'd totally want to hang out with~ I chose them because I think that the authors did an excellent job in making their characters realistic and concrete! :)

Ash from The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa because Ash is totally HOT and has a total badass aura around him. And his love for Meghan is so sweet! I get tingles every time I read a scene about them~ :) (I totally bawled my eyes out in the one!)

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE DEREK! If he was a real person I would totally marry him if I could! He's so... Fragile. There's something about the way Angela Morrison made this character that makes you ache and care for him.

I think Martin has to be one of the most caring guys i have ever read about. The way he stands up for Alex is extremely impressive. I love the way he's always there for her when she needed someone to vent to. I'm pretty sure most girls would like a guy like this! ;)

I think Jay has to be one of my all-time male favorites! He's so compassionate to Violet and he's so protective of her. But not too protective of her that he's invading her space but just being there for her... Wow. I can't wait to read more about Jay and Violet in Desires of the Dead!

This spot totally goes to Alex because of the things he did for Lena. Delirium was such an amazing book and it became even more amazing because of Alex. I LOVE ALEX. Period. Next!

I'm picking Delvin for this one. Even though he's a total nerd, I like him. He's cool in a dorky way! :D And I'm a total dork! So, I'm tight with Delvin!
