Animal Farm

Animal Farm

Hi There!

How's the week going?
All good I hope and
there is always the
weekend to look forward
to but first, take a seat
and have a look at what
Hazel Harler has brought:

 "Hi everybody,
today I'm sharing a card with you

I started by making the background
using Distress Oxides.

The next step was to stencil some hearts
 and diamonds using Distress Oxides.

I stamped the Paperartsy/Zinsky images
onto white card and coloured them
with pencils, then I cut them out.

I also die cut a heart with a
Sizzix Thinlits die.

The images were glued to the
background, then this was matted
onto some mauve card and then
 onto a white card blank

I stamped some flowers and a bird,
coloured them and cut them out and
glued them to the card, then
I stamped the sentiment and scribbled
round the edge with a black marker."

Supplies:

You have really brought
the cats (?) to life Hazel
Thank you for a lovely
cheery card

Think these two are going
to find their way into my
shopping basket ........

'Till tomorrow

Better & Better

Better & Better

Hi there!

Are you on your holidays?
If so, you will be well chilled
if not, try this card today, it
is so relaxing to do.........

Here's Helen Chilton to show
you the way.....

Step 1: Stencil in gesso onto part of your card.

Step 2: Then stamp the fancy clock over
 the top in black.

Step 3: Colour in with pencils -
I used Derwent Coloursoft.

I like the way the stencilling
 shows through.

Step 4: To make the stamped image pop,
add highlights with a white pen.

I tend to put the pen on the craft mat
and then dip in a bamboo skewer/cocktail
stick as you have more control
over the flow of ink.

Supplies:

Stamps used:
Pencils:
Stencil:
Gesso:

white paint pen
rub ons

A nice quick project -
thank you Helen

The white paint pen really
does make the image appear
three dimensional

Up the Wall

Up the Wall

Morning!  How's it going?
I know, some of you won't see
this until evening!  I just feel
if I say Good Evening it will
seem as though I've only just
remembered to do the blog
...............ooops!

Craftyfield is here today with
a super card reminiscent of
travels to sunnier climes.....
..........and times.....

"Despite the many options available to create a wall texture,
I chose to represent the rendered walls so popular in Europe.
Shame really as The Craft Barn has many stencils and stamps
to fake the look of bricks, stones, wood and more...
It could have been so easy...
But no I persevered!

To complete the look I needed to create a window
for my wall and some sort of gate, maybe with a bicyle...

To create my window I cut 4 rectangles from
 a piece of white cardstock.

I then used an embossing tool and a foam mat
to emboss lines around the frame

For colour I settled on a blue base,
which I distress in the next step.

I mixed the colour from Frescos in
South Pacific and Lavender.

I applied a thin layer of diluted crackle and
 overpainted with white paint

I used double sided tape to affix a piece of
acetate for my window panes

The wall texture was built in layers.
I started with a layer of gesso and painted mixes of colours
over the top to establish a background colour.

Then with a sponge and tinted Grunge paste I "stamped" the stucco texture.

I must say I wasn't sure if this would work, but it does, brilliantly in fact!

I considered giving my window some curtains
but decided a dark colour would leave more to the imagination.

I roughly drew in my panes with Inktense pencils
mixing the colours on the paper.

I then applied (a little) water with a wet brush.

To distress my wall I added some crackle,
mixing grey and black ink directly on the stamp
on top of Antique linen Distress ink.

The Distress allows the inks to mix more
readily with each other.

Finally the garden was stamped, fussy cut
and coloured with Inktense pencils.

I tried to take some picture in natural lighting
and this one does show the wall texture,
very true to life I think

And another close up showing the subtle crackle
and my impulse addition of a flowering branch
coming down the wall,
which I also painted with pencils."

Supplies:

That stucco effect is amazing Craftyfield
Thank you for showing us how to do that

Think I'll go and see if I can
achieve at least a reasonable
resemblance to stucco

3D Bloom and Texture

3D Bloom and Texture

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all wrapped up
warm and cozy on this fine
chilly day!

We have Hazel Harler to talk
us through her stunning canvas
so get yourself a cheery cuppa
and prepare to be A-mazed....

"For my project I used a 6" square canvas board

First I cut some vase shapes out of corrugated card
having the ridges go different ways,
then I glued some wooden shapes and pearls to them.

The vases then had a coat of gesso

I coloured the vases with acrylic paint.

then sprayed gold foil Color Bloom on the blue vase,
brimstone wings on the pink vase and
dragonfly blue on the pale blue vase

I used my finger to spread some Treasure Pewter over the vases

I stencilled some modelling paste through a Dreamweaver stencil
and gave it a coat of gesso when the paste had dried.

I watered down some acrylic paint , dabbed it on the canvas
and sprayed with water letting it run down.
I put the paint on one colour at a time drying it between colours

I thought it was a bit pale so I added some yellow
paint and some red Gelatos I also splattered some frost Color Bloom

I used my finger to spread Treasure Pewter
over the modelling paste and went round the edge with black ink.

 I stamped some Paperartsy tulips.

I coloured the flowers with pencils and cut them out
I'd stamped extra flowers so that I could 3D the central petal.
I glued all the pieces to the canvas."

Suplies used:

Thank you Hazel for your lovely canvas
giving us spring flowers and cheer

I'm thinking this will look lovely on my
mantel shelf and remind me that
spring really is just around the corner.......

'Till tomorrow
