The Santa Barbara County, California Sheriff reports that the gunman who killed all those people in California had passed all the necessary background checks and was using California-legal 10-round magazines.
During a May 24 press conference on Elliot Rodger's shooting spree in California, Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said the guns Rodgers possessed "were legally purchased," which means he went through a background check, and that he used 10-round magazines.
President Obama and other gun control advocates also pushed to reduce legal magazine capacity to 10 rounds following the attack on Sandy Hook Elementary, suggesting smaller magazines would dissuade mass murderers. However, Breitbart News has repeatedly reported that, if magazines held fewer rounds, criminals would simply buy more magazines to commit their heinous acts.
On May 24, Sheriff Brown suggested that Rodger had done just that, as police found a total of 41 "loaded 10-round magazines" in Rodger's car.

NRA Breaks Silence On Sandy Hook

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.
Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.
The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.
The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.
Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time.

Two people are hospitalized after a gunman chased terrified restaurant patrons into the lobby of the Santikos Mayan 14 movie theater during a showing of "The Hobbit" last night, 1200 WOAI news reprots.
Police detectives and sheriff's investigators say the incident started in the China Garden Restaurant on Southwest Military Drive about 9 PM Sunday, when an employee of the restaurant walked in looking for a woman.
When the woman, who officials say is also a restaurant employee, wasn't there, the man pulled a gun and attempted to open fire in the restaurant but his weapon jammed.
"It started at the restaurant and then went into the parking lot and then into the movie theater," Deputy Lou Antu told 1200 WOAI news.
Investigators say some of the terrified restaurant patrons poured into the movie theater, and the gunman followed.
He opened fire, shooting one man in the chest, before Antu says an off duty sheriff's deputy who was working security at the theater shot him once.
"The officer involved, she took the appropriate action to try to keep everyone safe in the movie theater," Antu said.
"Weapon jammed." All too often massacres are prevented because the weapon of choice is a semiauto, rather than the inherently more reliable revolver. That's the reason I'm a revolver man, myself.
Seems to be a lot of copycat craziness going on in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy. Wish everyone would calm down and take a few deep breaths.

Major Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, used an FN Five-Seven, a semi-automatic pistol popular with SWAT teams, that can fire armour-piercing bullets.
A total of 13 people died in the bloodbath at the Texas military base and 38 were wounded.
Hasan had bought the weapon legally at a gun store close to Fort Hood in August and practiced at a nearby shooting range.
During the attack he also carried a Smith & Wesson .357-calibre revolver but it was not clear if he used it.
