Hmm....

Here's the first in a row of older posts that I 'll rework & reup  in the next weeks / months - Büdi and Gumbl's Hmm... LP released 1983 on the excellent Biber label.
The amazing cover art exploded when I pulled the lp out from some shelf in my favourite record store. At that time I had only 3 records on Biber (Dadadogs, Lenny MacDowell, Ralf Illenberger's Circle) and was on the hunt for more, because these 3 are GREAT! I don't have to tell how pleasing it was to see the Biber logo and all those NAMES on the back cover.... Was ist die Zeit (transl. what is time) has been my fave on the LP for ages and you probably don't want to know but this track (and Dadadogs' Big Piece, Big Peace) are included in my Autumn Air mix for Chee's Musicwise series (last copies still available).
But please let me tell you that the whole record is a bust! If you like humorous Ethno Jazz and you missed it the first time around check it out now......

Coke Tales .....

while preparing the stock for my new online record store with a name borrowed from this place here I discovered having a double copy of this French Fusion LP by Laurent Cokelaere from 1983 and immediately recorded the whole thing.
Bassman Cokelaere is accompanied by a big group of musicians. Most of these are completely unknown to me, but I realy adore their work : )
A juicy and heterogenous gem in my humble opinion. Listen and please let me know what you think about it. (link in comments)

And of course, if you're not just a downloader, but do love music played from grooves carved into plastic plates - come and visit GROWING BIN RECORDS opening VERY soon. free shipping and tons of soundclips guaranteed.

A new Decade, a new Sound . . .

Another set from the maestro, Vytas Brenner. This one was released in 1983 and the sound has changed with the years, just as the musicians have. Ofrenda has acquired a new bassist who has added a distinct new flavor to the music. Another fine set of songs worthy of wider recognition. This one is for Cesare.

A spaceship? No it's Provolone!!

The big chunk of cheese travels through time and space and takes all them cosmic kids down to disco hell to spend the rest of their lives dancing naked in melted peppermint cheddar. For real! After having seen this one go on ebay for big money I just visited the local dealer and bought it for a few pennies and that's what this LP is worth. Maybe a few p's more if you're into dancing in cheddar. Check out the featured artists and request the link for your journey up first and down then ...... Don't forget to bring your pelican costume. If you don't own one - ORDER IT IMMEDIATELY
To be serious: There are quite a few wack tracks on this lp, but damn it - the Disco & Company (Arpadys guys) track is at least listenable just as the Vladimir Cosma tracks. Then there's the mad "Pepper Box" by the Peppers (Arpadys guys once again) and the insane Golant Pistons' Pelican Dance. After having listened over the shitty tracks for a couple of times my favourite is "Baby Darling" by the Holiday Mood Orchestra. It gives me a bit of a Melody Nelson meets Sunshine Reggae feeling.

cheers,
Basso
