Cheers

Nick is out of town this weekend for a guys' trip. He and a bunch of his friends left on Thursday night to go to Lubbock to play golf, watch the "red and black game" (some kind of spring practice football game), and go to a baseball game. That's too many "games" for my liking. I understand wanting to do that about like he understands visiting the Circle E candle factory, but whatever.

Last night I went to Arlington to have dinner with my mom and my grandparents. We went to a little Italian place called Prespa's- now formally renamed Cheers.

When we first walked in, we saw Lisa's in-laws. Well let me back up- when we VERY first got there, we watched a guy do the Heimlich on a lady in a moo-moo; only, come to find out she hadn't been choking at all- the red pepper flakes were just too hot. (Hate when that happens!)

Anyway, so first we were talking to Cheryl and Keith who told us that Lisa and Ryan were on their way with Addyson! I was SO excited that I was going to get to see Fern (and Lisa and Ryan of course)!!!! I seriously asked Cheryl three times, "Lisa and Ryan AND Addyson are really coming HERE?? Right now?!?!" (You can see why Nick kept me away from Kirk Herbstreet.) I can't help it- I just love Addyson so much! It just makes my whole week when I get to see her.

Well then Lisa and Ryan came in and sat down, and who walked in?? Lisa's parents Beth and Charlie with our other old neighbors Mike and Helen! What are the odds?!?! It was like 1996 on Jason Drive all over again. It was so great to see everybody and catch up a little bit. They are all such great people- I wish we got to see each other more.

Some of the Jason Drive crew (at my wedding):
Helen with my grandparentsLisa & Ryan, Charlie & Beth
Helen & JG

Tiffany- I kept watching the door for you, Brian, and the Shasteens to walk in, but you never showed!

After the reunion I came home and somehow ended up digging in a box in our upstairs closet. (By "ended up," I actually mean I was SO bored that I had nothing better to do.) Well, the 1996 flashback just kept on going, because while I was digging around in those boxes I found some treasures!!

-Red Motorola pager- CHECK! (You may or may not see it clipped on my jeans from now on. Just page me if you need me.)
-Casio Magic Diary- CHECK!
-Senior Scrapbook-CHECK!
-Pink Motorola RAZR from back in 2004- Oh wait! That's still my phone.

And the very best thing of all that I unearthed.... I bought this gem Spencer's at the Parks Mall in the mid-nineties. Can I just say, they just don't make phones like this any more. Not only does it light up, not only is it see through- it still works!!! And anyways, by now it's probably an antique and worth lots of money.

I am seriously considering moving it downstairs and making it our permanent land line phone. How great would that be?! I pretty much decided last night, if our house ever burned (God forbid) and Nick got Lexi out safely, I would make a mad dash for my wedding album and my see through, neon pink and yellow light up phone. Like good neighbors, those aren't the kinds of things you can just go around replacing.

Your post made me laugh AND cry. You definitely can't replace neighbors/friends on Jason Dr.. I thought all neighbors were like us, but sadly I've realized they are not. It's just so strange that you wrote this. Just tonight I was driving home from Joe T.'s and I kept fighting the urge to get on 287 and go home to my Jason Dr. home, and I was thinking of all the good times there.

Wish we could've been there last night too...

I love reminiscing! Sometimes I'll go back & read my old journals.

Would the brand name of that phone happen to be a Swatch phone, cause it looks just like the one I had!?!
