In Good Company

"Party in the U.S.A."
This was Logan & Vinny after the play date last Thursday, but I just had to include it. They look like a couple of Vegas playboys. Stacy & I were messing with Logan's curtains and Vinny's big sister CeeCee was putting these hats on the boys. Too cute!!

Here is a quick recap of what we've been up to over the last week...

I'm tired, but the happy kind of tired. This has been a week full of company at our house! Last Thursday I hosted the play date and then Thursday night Nick's Tech buddies Randy, Kevin, Brett & his wife Jennifer came in town.

The guys all left on Friday for Lubbock to go to the first game of the season (oh yes- "we" still have season tickets, but that's another post for another day), and on Saturday Kevin's wife Jesse flew in from Houston to stay with me and Logi!

The guys came back from Lubbock on Sunday, and then Sunday night my dad drove in town for the week, and Rhonda will be here to join him in a couple of days!!!

It makes me tired just typing all that out. I love having company, but along with it comes a whole lot of cooking and washing sheets and towels. Especially beach towels.

I felt bad because the last couple of times the Tech crew visited, Logan was tiny, I was sleep deprived and I'm pretty sure the only things in our fridge were a carton of milk and some wilted grapes. So I made an extra effort to cook a lot while they were here.

On Saturday my mom kept Logan so Jesse and I could go check out Downtown Grapevine.
Awkward hands for sure

How did I not know about the shops in Grapevine before now?? Cutest stores EVER! It's like a mini Fredericksburg, and I didn't even know it existed.
Less awkward hands- in my new fave store called One Posh Place.

Saturday night I cooked Mediterranean Soup, and I was so glad because my mom stayed and hung out with Jesse and I after we got Logan to bed. We sat around and visited and drank red wine. Fun, fun night! Sunday, Jesse and I went to lunch and hung out by the pool.

I made a breakfast casserole for Monday morning, fruit pizza for dessert on Sunday, and when the guys got home we grilled out chicken and veggies. There were pool shenanigans a plenty. Good times!

That night Jesse, Jennifer and I lit the fire pit and sat out there making s'mores while the guys and my dad watched the REPLAY of the Tech football game.... the one they had just attended the day before! We made fun of them for that, but they made fun of us because it was definitely well over 95 degrees and we were sitting out by the fire making s'mores. I don't care what they say, s'mores are delicious any time of year.
Hanging out with Pops early Monday morning

After the Tech crew left Monday, my dad and Nick spent Labor Day taking care of all kinds of "honey dos" around the house for me. Then- they did this...
I'm always amazed how guys can just fall asleep spontaneously at any time. Rumor has it that even my FIL, Al has been known to pass out MID CHANNEL CHANGING.
Barney got in on the napping action as well.

My three best guys at the sno cone stand- Logan is formulating a plan to get one for himself

Yesterday my dad went to visit my grandma, and it was a good chance for me to just rest and catch up on things around the house. I did go to Stroller Strides, but we had to leave about half way through class because Logan had a melt down =(  Not a pretty mom moment. We both left sweaty, he was crying, and I felt like crying because I felt like the worst mom in the world for dragging him to class.

He has decided he's not really interested in his early morning nap any more, BUT he really wants to nap around 9:00, right when class starts. I'm not sure what to do. The last couple of weeks I've only been going like once or twice a week because of this.

On the one hand, I feel super selfish dragging him to S.S. when he wants/needs to sleep during that time, but on the other- that is the ONE thing I do for myself on a regular basis and I LOVE it. I have so many friends there.

Since we moved it's a 25 minute drive both ways which is also a negative, but I really, really don't want to give it up. I'm trying not to get emotional about it one or way or the other and just go with the flow and hope it will work itself out. It's a delicate balance because just as bad as I want to go, I also want him to keep being such a good napper. Plus he doesn't sleep well in his car seat or stroller.
Happy stroller boy at Starbucks this morning

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Claire and Logi are growing up...no more early early naps for us either. I'm lucky that my class is so close, and she wakes at 9:30, when class starts and I get there about 9:45 when alls said and done. But you're right, those naps are key BUT our friends are at class! Most of the babies seem to sleep later, so they can make it thru class and sleep after. That's the prob. Early risers!!

Oh and in one of those shopping pics I liked your eyemake up....but uh...all the other times/...I uh...

I hear ya on having people in town! It is so so so much fun, but a lot of work at the same time! I am still doing laundry after everyone left us Labor Day weekend! It will get done though! Its a tough one with the nap vs SS thing. I don't know what I would advise, other than it really will be a short period and he'll probably be able to stay up longer. Hope it works itself out!

Hosting guests is definitely a lot of work, but, so much fun. :) Um, I want to gobble that fruit pizza up. Looks so good!!! :) And good luck with the stroller strides dilemma. It's tough trying to balance everything!
