Getting Ready For The Big One!!!

Visiting Mimi at school this week!

This has been a FUN, special week for our little fam of three! We have been busy getting ready for Logan's first birthday, our first family vacay, and of course Christmas! Holidays are so much more fun with kids! I know they'll just keep getting better from here, too. And it makes it extra fun to think that from now on a birthday party is going to be part of our holiday celebration. That makes me love the holidays even more!

Nick and I have been really excited for Logan's birthday!!! We had his party here at our house yesterday. I will do a separate post with pictures from his party, but I wanted to share some other pictures first. Just to warn you- I'm about to post more pictures than anyone probably ever cared to see of my family.

For Logi's birthday Nick and I got him a rolling suit case, a back pack, and a few toys for the airplane.
We also got him a blow up ball pit from Toys R Us for his play room. Epic fail!
I mean he loves it climbing around in it, but it is just so dinky. I'm thinking about returning it. We thought it would be fun for him to have for the birthday party, but it's so light weight that every time he crawls around the entire thing flips over on its side. I'm thinking a plastic baby pool with balls would have been the way to go. Oh well, he loves it!

His Grammy and Grandpa got him an awesome gift, which I will blog about on his party post! Mimi got him a slide for the play room. He and Nick assembled it Thursday night.
Okay, I know to most people it's just a slide. But to us, Logan may as well have been earning an Olympic gold medal. It's amazing how every new thing your first child does is just AH-MAZING!!! We were amazed watching him learn to climb the slide and had so much fun playing with him on it.

Lexi is never far away from the family action.
He's going to Harvard this kid, I just know it.

Then, Nick taught him how to put the basketball in the hoop. He's had this toy for a while but really figured it out Thursday night.

My dad and Rhonda sent this adorable cozy coupe truck for his birthday. Logan loves to push it around the house, honk the horn and ride around in it. On Saturday morning before his party I even fed him his oatmeal sitting in it, because he did not want to get out and eat breakfast.

I also need to give a huge shout out to Al & Teri for picking up Logan's cake and to my mom for picking up Logan's cookies and making a salad for the party. And most of all, to four of my BFFs. I have THE best friends any one could ever ask for.

On Friday Brittany, Rhett and Gentry came over so Brittany could help me set up for Logan's birthday party. She spent several hours over here and even let me borrow a few of her party things.

She and I set up some stuff while the kids tore apart the house.

Yes, my child is the classy one without any clothes on. This was right after he dumped Lexi's entire bowl of water all over himself.

Then, on Friday night Hayley, Kimba and Melissa came over for pizza, wine-a-ritas and party decorating. Seriously- SO nice!!! They hung streamers, helped me cook-- you name it they did it! They stayed until after 10:30 helping me get everything ready.

Logan's birthday would not have been nearly as cute without the help from such great friends.

It's not the cake and the presents, the streamers and the balloons that matter. It's all the wonderful things I just blogged about-- good friends, making special memories as a family, seeing Logan's excitement. I want to remember all of this along with his birthday. I love the holidays!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see party pictures! We had Eli's third birthday yesterday, so hopefully I can post pictures from that later today.

Oh and we also go Eli a slide for his birthday or Christmas his first year, and I was terrified of it for the first month or two! It felt so tall and steep... and downright dangerous (it was the same height as yours). If you have any similar feelings, let me tell you, you'll laugh about it months (or years) later.

Happy birthday, Logan!!

I randomly found your blog earlier this year (I honestly don't remember how) and my sons birthday is 12/20/11 as well. We are having his party on the 22nd so I can't wait to see your party post for some last minute ideas :)
