A Tiny Fairy Garden House

This Fairy Garden House was sent in by Tabitha Bedoukian, CZT of Montreal, Quebec, Canada ~

When I asked for permission to post her sweet creation, Tabitha sent these new photos ~

Not only is it adorable, the roof was tangled with her very own tangle, Kaboom.
(Click here to find it on TanglePatterns.)

Kaboom and Tabitha's Kulakane´ tangle are featured in the latest "Tiny House Book" by Dorian Eng, CZT and myself.  Along with pattern step outs, our book features detailed instructions on how to construct these tiny treasures and examples of how to embellish them.
(Ordering information is available by clicking the book cover to the right.)

Many thanks to Tabitha for her tangles and for the photos of her delightful fairy house.

Two More Tiny Houses

Here are two more Tiny Tangled Houses to spread the
New Year's joy ~

The first is a beautifully detailed one from
Lisette in Switzerland.

She included delicious pretzel decorations, peppermint, garland, and a tree that wraps around two sides of the house.

Lisette cut out the window panes and then put
a battery operated light inside to make the house glow.

It looks so cozy and inviting.

The second beautiful house was sent in by
Marty Greiner from Virginia.

Marty even added a tree using CZT Dorian Eng's bell instructions.
(Click here for the link to those.)

Not only is the house decorated uniquely on each side, the tree is as well.

In her note, Marty said,
I thought it was a most excellent Christmas craft. I spent several pleasurable hours planning and drawing my house. The shading really made it pop. My family really love it. Thanks to you and Dorian for the great instructions.

There are curtains in the windows!

Many thanks to Lisette and Marty for permission to post their Tiny Houses.  It almost makes me wish for Christmas all year long - almost!

Dorian and I are working on some project ideas for St. Valentine's and St. Patrick Day, so if you missed the opportunity to tangle your own Tiny House in December, stay tuned!

The Angels are Smiling

If "every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings", then the heavens were flooded with new arrivals this Christmas thanks to CZT Dorian Eng's ingenious idea to create bells with Zentangle® tiles.
(Click here to view her video.)

Totally captivated with the idea, I taught a class about it in early December.  The enthusiasm was so contagious that I continued to make them well past Christmas.

Here are a few pictures from my class - with many thanks to Betsy, Gara, Karen, Michele, Mollie, Sherry, Pam, and Pat :

You may notice from the photos that we brainstormed ideas on a worksheet that I drew up before adding our desired tangles to the bells.  It helped us visualize how different tangles would fill the spaces and helped us to collect and share ideas as well.
When finished, one bell was more beautiful than the next.

Now, for a few of the Christmas gifts I made :

I started with a basic idea that was inspired by an example of Dorian's.  I used Sakura Gelly and Stardust pens and blended them with a brush like watercolors.  Once assembled the first bell looked like this ~

For gifts, I tangled a bell for each of our children and grandchildren that featured their own tangle.
Here are a just a few of them ~
Pauline's Pigtail

Xav

Sand

Trella and Lanie

Mel Mel and Teenos

The tangles under each photograph are direct links to the step out, just click to view.

Have fun with your own jingly creations - and just imagine the angels you'll be outfitting!

Christmas Continues...

Since we are still celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmas, over the next four days I will post a few of my holiday projects.
(It's never too early to start getting ready for the next Christmas season, right?!)

To thank my friend Dorian Eng, CZT, for her indispensable role in getting our first eBook published, I created this Tiny House scene ~

Tiny Tangled House scene by Adele Bruno, CZT

This domed cake stand (purchased at a local store) was the perfect size for a Bijou tile house and two trees.  The trees are actually three folded Bijou tiles inspired by Dorian's latest instructional video for Sakura (Click here for the link).

After creating the house and trees, I added some "snow" and then arranged and rearranged the pieces...

...until they sat like this together~

To finish it off, I added a battery operated tea light that gave the house a warm glow.

We say in our book that there are no limits to the possibilities these little houses inspire.
I hope you enjoyed this one!

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom and a Bijou Surprise

Good friends are like quilts,
they never lose their warmth.
Bijou Quilt by Adele Bruno, CZT
Cubine, Bales by Maria Thomas. Tri-Bine by Laura Liu, CZT, Heart Box by Helen Williams

Once completed, this foursome of tangled Bijou tiles reminded me of a quilt - and this saying as well.

To create it, I began by lining up four Bijou tiles and then added a square grid over all four tiles.
Next, I added Maria Thomas' Cubine and Bales, along with Laura Liu, CZT's Tri-Bine and Helen Williams' Heart Box.  All four tangles begin with the same square grid, but Bales and Heart Box added a nice rounded balance to the others.

After a quilt came to mind, I began moving the pieces around and was pleasantly surprised by what happened ~

Each time I rotated the tiles, the mosaic took on a new look...

Bales looked beautiful in the center...

as did Heart Box...

The key to having interchangeable tiles, is to begin with a grid that runs over all of them - after that the possibilities are endless.
How fun!

Enjoy!
