CMC in the Pink and New DT Members!!!

Have you ever wanted PINK hair??? LOL  Well I HAVE!!!  And honestly I've wanted PURPLE hair!  Yeah... what can I say... I have a little bit of the goofy teen still in me!  And nothing wrong with that, I imagine. LOL  Especially since I haven't acted on it! LOL  BUT... I certainly have nothing stopping me when it comes to COLOR images with PINK hair!!!  AND... it certainly helped when the CMC Challenge this week was to use pink!!! Woot!!!  Head on over to the CMC Challenge site and join in on the fun!  You can use any image you want, just use lots of pink in it!!

Our sponsor this challenge is Suzanne Dean, the CMC Site itself, and she is offering up a FREE Copic class to the winner! You don't want to miss out!!  I credit ALL my Copic skills learned to Suzanne and her classes!!

My image today is a Saturated Canary, Color Me Wonderful... I certainly tried to do that!! Hee Hee I love all of the Saturated Canary images because they lend themselves to so many different arrays of coloring... antiqued, fun and soft natural coloring as well.   I used the Simple Stories, Snap Life, paper, which I adore!! It has so many fun comments and quotes on it and most often I find I don't even need a sentiment.  My background paper most often has exactly what I want to say on it.

I hope you join us for the PINK Challenge!!  Have fun and use your imagination to venture out!!!

And on that note... we, at CMC, would like to also welcome and introduce to you our newest Design Team members!!!

The "Book" Marker....

Happy Monday everyone!!!  I'd like to share with you a book marker I made for my pen pal, Beverly.  Now, the reason I made her the book mark, isn't because we READ books together and then discuss... like "NORMAL" book clubs do, but because we share a love of our planners.  That's right, you heard me... planners.  Not just ANY planner, but Filofax planners.  And she and I met through our Filofax "cult" (as my hubby calls it... LOL).  Beverly lives in the UK and we decided to become pen pals.  Beverly has a love for antiques and all things vintage.  I couldn't help but think of her whenI grabbed this adorable image from Tiddly Inks"Aida - Gonna Miss you".  Aida comes with suit cases but I decided to perch her on top of the FREE digital  "Open Book" that is offered on Tiddly Inks web site.  ... YES I said FREE!!!

I used craft paper from Teresa Collins, "Memories" paper which I felt looked perfect as a vintage design.  My image was printed on Cryogen White and colored with Copic Sketch markers.  I cut the image and mounted them separately onto the book mark.

Before finishing up my card I made sure each edge was distressed with some Tim Holtz Distress ink pads in "Vintage Photo".  I found a piece of "aged" looking embellished sentiment plate. Here's a closer look....

MPBeverly2

Seems lots of gals in our planner group are receiving lots of flack lately about actually using a "written" scheduler instead of the tech savvy cell phones and such.  I decided this sentiment was perfect to let at least one person know, it's ok to step back and enjoy your personalized hand written notes and appointments.  I know I still keep a written journal and LOVE getting back down to paper and pen, probably more than most. LOL

I kept it a simple design because I want you to know.... not everything needs to be complicated, or flowery, or even full of die cuts or flourishes.  Sometimes... a little simple image and cute papers are enough to serve it's purpose.  Not ALL we design needs to be explosively eye catching.  Just from your heart and it's purpose is sometimes all we need.  :-)

I hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by.  I always appreciate your support! *HUGS*

Shhhhhrrrrrriiiiiinnkkkk It!

Do you remember these???? Shrinky Dinks?? Ha!  OMGosh I hadn't thought of these in YEARS!! (Ok wait... not THAT many years!!! ;-)  )  But seriously... have you tried stamping on them???  Talk about FUN!!!  Even my daughter had to get in on the act.  And of course, it's not even so much about the coloring or stamping for her.. it was more about WATCHING it shrink!!!  I could color blocks all day just to sit and watch them go down in size.  My project today serve two areas... 1) I had been dying to mess with these since I found them... and 2) I REALLY wanted something special and handmade I could give to my fellow planner friends as a RAK (random act of kindness).  Ta Dah!!!  Enter  the Shrinky Dinks!!!

THIS is where my Shrinky Dink ended up!!  I took this adorable Sherri Baldy image, "Princess Sparkle" and made her into a cute page marker that I could send off to my friends.  Soooo fun!!!  I can't wait to hear how they like them!!!  Here's how this fun Shrinky Dinks work....

MPShrink2

The come in a pretty thick sheet and my pack came with some creme color sheets, brown and black sheets.  I took a clear which when you pick it up you realize, one side is rough and frosted.  Basically, sanded for you ahead of time so your colors, stamped image, etc. adhere to it well.

MPShrink3

I stamped my image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and let it sit for about  five minutes before beginning to color it in.
MPShrink4

Now don't worry so much about how light it appears when you color it.  I used my Copic Sketch markers to fill in my image.  As you can see below.. I added some pretty bright colors but because of the frosted rough side, it doesn't look so bright.  Wait for it...  Next I cut the image out pretty close to the lines.

MPShrink5

And THIS is how she comes out of the oven.  WAY brighter than you expected, right?   As you can see, it's possible to do some shading but honestly, it's a bit tough to do, as you can see in my hair.  I definitely highlighted it but since things "scrunch" up so much in the shrinking process, it's kind of hard to keep the colors separated.
Here you can see the difference in size (my daughter stamped one to color and it's not perfect, but she didn't care. Ha!)

I glued the large style paper clip to the back and it's done!  Ready for your pages, or your planner.  I've already done an adorable frog for myself and I can't wait to make more personal paper clips for all my friends.  You can make earrings, necklaces and brooches as well with these fun sheets. Give it a try.  I bet you'll become addicted.
Thanks for stopping by today and remember to stop back tomorrow for even more inspiration from the Design Team!  Have a fabulous Saturday!  *HUGS*

My card uses Tina Wenke's "A Twirly Hug" stamp.  Isn't it adorable?!!!  I couldn't resist using it since it reminded me so much of my hubby always walking up and twirling me for a dance. LOL  NOT that I dance all the time. LOL  He's just silly like that.  But this image was perfect!  I colored it with my Copic markers and cut it out before mounting it inside a little frame I grabbed off my Silhouette Cameo.  I added the cute banner from La La Land's dies, "Heart Banner".  My DP is from the Teresa Collins, "She Said" paper pack.

He Makes our House a Home....

Hi everyone!! It's another beautiful day for a fabulous Sherri Baldy Bestie, right?  Ok wait.. what day isn't????!!!!!  ;-)

Today I couldn't help but look at this Big Eyed sweetness and be reminded of how my darling hubby tells me the first thing he fell in love with were my eyes.  LOL  Ok... I kinda think that's funny.  I mean seriously.. BROWN eyes??? Ya... I always wanted blue!!! LOL

I decided to make this card for him as "MY" little token of how he's a fabulous father this Father's Day.  Normally, my kids find an image and ask me to make him a card for them so I thought it was time I pick one from me.  :-)

My image is colored with Copic markers and I cut her out before adhering her to my card.  I decided on the designer paper because of the house on it and had already written my sentiment and printed it out on my printer.  It's from Webster's Pages, "New Beginnings"... love this Eastery paper.  Love the pastels!  The little "rug" I have her sitting on was made using fabric tape and I added it to a piece of card stock to give it some thickness then used my scissors to shred the edges and make fringe on my rug.

Sherri's image are so much fun to color and I find every time I sit down, I want to do another as soon as I finish one.  But, I'd never get cards put together and my Copics would surely run out of ink quicker than I could order ALL the refills! Ha!

If you are new to Sherri's images, I am sure you will find just about anything to "tell your story" or fit the occasion.  I think Sherri has a magic elf living in her studio at night because she cranks one after the other out!  But, it truly is awesome to have such a huge selection and from someone who creates the cutest images around!

Thanks for stopping by today and stay tuned, there are bound to be more of these Besties that will find their way to a card and not just colored on my desk.  ;-)  Have a great day!!! *HUGS*

MarkerPOP@ + Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop!

Hello everyone and welcome to the MarkerPOP! + Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop!!!

MarkerPOP! is the home of premium markers plus lots more!

Perfect Paper Crafting provides innovative tools, like the "Perfect Layers (tm)" border making tools/rulers, for all types of paper crafting.

Today we are teaming up to share some amazing projects using some of the awesome Perfect Paper Crafting Tools along with some of our favorite coloring tools from MarkerPOP.com.

If you are just joining us on the hop, you are going to want to start back at the beginning of the hop list which can be found at the end of this post!

My project today uses one of the cutest Saturated Canary images, "Princess Peanelope".  I used my Copic Sketch markers to color it along with a ShinHan Touch Twin Brush marker.  But, it also  included using the Perfect Tears Tool!  I admit I have used "tear tools" before, but this tool by Perfect Paper Crafting was soooo awesome to use!!  First, it comes with a water bottle which give you a way to add water to your paper which in turn makes it sooo much easier to tear!

When you first add water to the bottle, you will need to "plunge" the tip a bit to get the water flowing through.

Once you see a spot of water showing up on your paper, it's good to go.

Decide where you want to make your tear... lay your Perfect Tears Tool down and simply run the tip of the bottle down the rulers edge.  Now, I ran my down a few times because I REALLY wanted my tear to look more "ragged" to match my distressing on my image.  WOW... was I happy with how it came out!!!

It not only tore perfectly, it even raised the edge a bit after it dried and I LOVED that!!!  If you simply go down the edge of the tool a few times to dampen your paper, your tear will be much smoother.  Again, I really wanted the fibers to show and look ragged so I went down my paper 3-4 times.  Here's a close up of  how it looks.

LOVE, LOVE the end result!!!  I know you will love this tool and with the option adding a bit more water to it for a different look other than just a simple wavy tear, it just adds to the awesomeness of this tool compared to others.

And, of course, there are more than enough options as to which style of tear you want.  You MUST give this a try!!! :-)

PRIZES: We have TWO fun Perfect Paper Crafting prizes up for grabs.  One sponsored by MarkerPOP! and one from Perfect Paper Crafting!

Prize #1 - Sponsored by Perfect Paper Crafting:  $50 Gift Certificate to the PerfectPaperCrafting.com store!
Prize #2 - Sponsored by MarkerPOP!:  Set of Perfect Tears Tools

HOW TO WIN: Visit the blogs on the hop list below and leave a comment on their Blog Hop post.  TWO winners will be randomly selected from all comments left.  The more you comment on, the better your chances of winning!

Play it again.... Steven????!!

Are you a music lover?  Do you like Blues or Jazz??  Well, I do! And I LOVE that my son decided to take saxophone lessons!!!  He's been a piano player for ten years and has played the clarinet for seven years so when he told me he wanted to be in Jazz Band at his high school last year, my husband and I were thrilled to go saxophone shopping! LOL But I admit, this year he's decided to play piano for Jazz Band and that's fine as well.  But I'm just happy he's continuing his sax lessons.  :-)

La La Land Crafts are some of my favorite images to color.  Not ONLY can you get adorable Saxophone Luka as a digi stamp, you can hop over to MarkerPOP! and get him in rubber as well!

I colored my Luka with Copic Sketch markers and mounted him to my card base using Pop Dots after cutting around him.  My musical paper is from the Carta Bella, "So Noted" paper pack.  I never miss an opportunity to buy a paper pack that has anything to do with music in it!!  My "vintaged" paper is from my older paper stash, sorry I can't remember the name.

I added some paper roses which I colored using some Heidi Swapp Color Shine "Mustard" and Mr. Huey's "Overdue Real Red".  These are some of my favorite mists for coloring flowers!! They dry nicely and are the perfect saturation every time!  A few rhinestones for "sax air" (ha!) was added behind my image as well as an SRM Sticker for the sentiment.

I created this card for one of my son's band directors, Mr. Stegemann, who, I admit, I give more than enough razzing to all school year long.  (I know, I know, those of you who know me can HARDLY believe I'd do such a thing, right? Bwahahaha! *wink*) Last week was "Teacher Appreciation Week" so I decided maybe... just maybe... poor ol' Stegemann deserved a bit of a thanks.  Last year I was part of the Band Boosters and this year my schedule just didn't allow for it.  I KNOW it takes a LOT of work, coordinating, and hours to get a marching band like ours to all the competitions, rehearsals and concerts all year long and I think Mr. Stegemann probably doesn't get near enough thanks for all he does.  Their other band director is Mr. Bartacheck and yes, I made him a little thank you as well.  I'll share that with you another day.  Together they are quite a team and through all the grumbling and whining and headaches, they make one hell of a band that our high school is VERY proud of!!  And yes, I'm biased!  It IS my alma mater as well.  Hee

I hope you find a little music in your heart that keeps you smiling and I hope that when you hear it you think of all the work and dedication the performer puts into it to get it just right for all to enjoy!

As always.. I thank you for stopping by and hope you have a fabulous Tuesday!!!  *HUGS*

CMC Challenge with Chelsea Le Designs

Happy Saturday everyone!!! I hope you're having a nice relaxing weekend.  I had to get up EXTRA early this morning to get my son to school.  He's heading to Kansas City with the Jazz Band to perform one last time this year.  Then.... off to Worlds of Fun, Crown Center, Arthur Bryants BBQ and the Jazz Museum!!  Fun fun!! I thought I might go along then I rethought... teens, coach bus, late night pizza party in rooms... nahhh.  I NEED my rest at my old age! LOL

This weeks' challenge at Color Me Creative is "Anything Goes with Coloring".  Always a fav since the sky's the limit!!  This week we used the fabulous Chelsea Le Designs images.  OMGosh her girls are so so darn cute!!! I love every one of them!! You'll want to make sure you enter the challenge for a chance to win FIVE of them!!!  Trust me, you to will love them al!!!

I stamped my image on Cryogen White card stock and colored her with my Copics.  I mounted her on my card using Pop Dots.  The patterned paper is from Carta Bella, "So Noted".  I added a few crystal buttons I found in my stash and put a tiny rhinestone in the middle of each that I colored with my Copics to match my design.  My butterflies were given to me long ago by a secret sister swap I was involved in.  I LOVE this fun package of all different shapes, sizes and patterns of butterflies and for the life of me I can't remember which swap it was from or who!  Sad, I know.  But if YOU sent them to me... thank you!!!! I LOVE them!!

That's it for me today.  I'm going to try to get some creating done in my Heidi Swapp Memory File Album and maybe even do a bit of Smash booking!!!  Have a super Saturday!!!  *HUGS*
