BS Tourism Uniform (4th year) - Camarin

This is a response to someone who once sent me an email asking about the uniform of Tourism students. Sorry it's a little bit late!
Anyway, better late than never.
Thanks to ShineSHine for these adorable pictures!

I love their uniform. It gives an air of prefessionalism & elegance!

halimbawa magaling kang mag-ingles..(for ABENGs)..pwed kang mag CALL CENTER o kaya HOMEBASED online teaching. uso yan ngayon.
TIME MANAGEMENT po!

thanks to JADE Topakin for this pic.

..minsan parang gusto kong sumuko..

Advice To The Freshmen

....I've said it several times already through some previous posts but I want to say/write it again,..
WELCOME FRESHMEN!!
you still have a long way to go...BUT I hope you know that whatever you are doing presently is making your FUTURE.
I'm talking about the academic activities you are presently engaging in..
COLLEGE is not all about studies....it's also about making social networks you will find useful in the FUTURE. SCHOOL LIFE has different facets that we have to explore. MERELY studying is dull I THINK. It would be much better if you join EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES. There are a lot in UCC.
I'm not saying this because I am VERY ACTIVE..in fact I'm the opposite. I've never had much of those during my 3-year stay...due to my work commitments. That's why I ENVY those who have time. Those FULL TIME students.
Here are some REASONS WHY you should join extra curricular activities.
1. To make social networks. - other students, professors out-campus contacts.
2. The more activities & seminars you have engaged in the better your RESUME will look in the future, when you'll be looking for job. It's a great advantage trust me!
3. Various experiences whether good or bad make you a better person. SCHOOLING is not all about the theories, formulas, principles from the books but also about maturity, self-improvement,personality molding, DISCIPLINE, widening one's HORIZON, and many more.
I think the 3 enumerated reasons above sum it all up. Just pick up the smaller details from them .
Here are different extra curricular activities you might wanna join:
1. VARSITY = volleyball, badminton , darts, basketball, chess, taekwondo - this is for those who seek physical challenge.
I've tried the TRY OUTS for women's volleyball when I was a FRESHMAN. That time I was still dependent on my parents. Then, while doing the try outs, my ONLY PAIR of rubbber shoes were torn. It was beyond repair so I didn't bother to have it repaired. Since then I left my long time 'varsity dream'. I know it was a very shallow reason but more financial contraints overwhelmed me then so I had to give up if I wanna survive with my meager resources. So then if you have the passion, resources & time why not try it right?
2. ORGANIZATION Officers - Psych. Soc, GEMS, PASOA, ASLEA & etc.. = of course each course has their own orgs. Why not try to be an OFFICER? Some of us may not be endowed with the 'leadership skill' but as long as we are a good follower we'll do just fine. Gaining knowledge about different kinds of people prepares us for our FUTURE work environment. Believe me, once you have experienced being an officer...you'll think first before complaining about contributions, activities & all. it is not a joke. I silently admire those officers out there...who albeit the complaints of skeptical students still persevere. We don't know how much they sacrifice for that. So every single event I witness I always look for the officers' faces & congratulate them...(pabulong nga lang)
Just being the PRESIDENT of a class of 40 students is already a serious headache. How much more an organization? the whole school?
3. The Crossroads - for those who are passionate & qualified enough try it! It is fulfilling to be able to serve the studentry through your words & pieces.
4. STUDENT ASSISTANTS - we see them around campus. Sometimes we even mock them for simply our impatience...but as far as I can see...they are seriously taking their job. The duties assigned to them is a great source of wisdom! They can boast of it during JOB INTERVIEWS.
I have witnessed & even befriended some SA's like kuya Washington, Kuya Ramil before & now Renan of the library. I can see how much it helps them in different ways. The present library staff in Camarin..Renan & the other girls, they are very diligent in doing their duties. I often see the 3 'Renan's Angels'. The two are very approachable while the other one is always frowning. (nakabusangot)
5. The ROTC - for those who are brave enough!
They are easily recognized through their uniform haircuts & fierce looks. PEACE tayo mga kuya at ate. That's just my observation.hehe.
A GOOD DEAL of discipline can be achieved here.
aside from the above-mentioned, we can also attend various SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS in & out of the campus. Some are FREE some are NOT.
**** okay so I think this is all for now. To be updated if ever I came up with something again!
finished: 12:30 am - July 20, 2010.

Aking Nababatid...

The Filipino Class That Was!

Last time...(no intention of revealing when) I attended for the first time this class under Prof. Cabanez for the subject 'Panitikan ng Pilipinas' in Recom Building with 2B BS Secondary Educ major in Bio or something that is similar to that.
As usual I was skeptical of whether there really was a need to study it..and honestly I felt my time would be wasted..
As I entered the room everybody was laughing out loud for something I was unfamiliar with.
So there was HE or should I say SHE(?)...entertaining the class with HER funny & witty remarks & gestures...immediately I had an idea what the class would look like. --- eeeehhh

---negative----

Reporting went ON & I've never been ashamed of myself for being that WRONG & JUDGMENTAL!!
It was the BEST FILIPINO class I've ever had in my entire life. No exaggeration intended.
FUNNY & WITTY professor + realization on my roots + funny classmates + practical application of lesson = BEST FILIPINO CLASS!

and I'm glad to have found it here in UCC.

Official & Unofficial DROP

May nagtanong...
(si Butz)
1. ANONG DAPAT GAWIN PAG MAY UNOFFICIALLY DROPPED SUBJECTS?
Ieenroll mo uli at papasukan mo uli!!
2. ANONG KAIBAHAN kapag nag OFFICIAL DROPPED at UNOFFICAL DROPPED KA?
Answer: Pareho ang gagawin.

NOTE: The information here is taken through experience. That WAS the registrar's explanation to me when I was filing the said FORM! This may CHANGE depending on the current policies of the school.
DISCALIMER: I don't answer all the queries here in behalf of the school officials. I answer them through the knowledge I've gained from my 3-year stay in the university.

Third Day of School

This morning, June 09, 2010 - the third day of school..I've been to UCC Camarin to see my schedule.
And something changed. I could feel it.
I figured out what it was.
It was the freshmen's eagerness & excitement shown through their giggles & stares.
I wish them the best years to come.
They are fortunate. They've started when the RB (Recom Building) was ready to be occupied.
I've also seen an alum who happened to intentionally visit the new building.
Just to experience it.
Let me tour you.
Here are the pictures!
Captions provided below each picture.

This is the supposed to be frontgate! But I think not ready yet.

Take a look at it closely.

By the gaze on their faces & their clothes (not in uniform) I guess they are Freshmen.

I was surprised to see them squatting. In This room there were no chairs yet. I'm not sure with the rest. I hope chairs will be provided soon.

The Fence

This might be what other ASPIRANTS see.

A BARRED & FENCED UCC..

those aspirants who according to them have been deprived of the right to a CHEAP higher education!

In my part I feel guilty. They could have exerted effort & tried to ENROLL but I TOLD THEM "NO".

"It is not allowed."

It was like me depriving them. Their life could have been changed.

Enrollment Scene/Requirements for OLD Students

This morning (may 24, 2010) I went to UCC Camarin to ask for an ORDER of PAYMENT.
This is what greeted me!
the long queues as usual.
Actually I have expected this already..but I didn't expect the heat. I've just taken a bath before I departed but here ..while taking this pic..sweat was already flowing from my head to my spine...
di lang siya tumutulo..dumadaloy na din.

view from a food stall outside.
as you can see students seated in the bleachers (covered court)..they are the new applicants for the entrance exams.

Cross-out the number 5. It has been removed from the list.
For OLD students...the above mentioned are the REQUIREMNETS.
1. Registration FORM for the LAST semester you have attended (2nd sem 2009-2010)
2. School ID
3. Final Examination Permit
4. Adviser's Form - for those who don't know this..
this is the form from your department head indicating your grades foerthe previous semester. This is the basis for HOW MANY UNITS you'll take & if you are already APPROVED by your Dept. HEAD/ADVISER to enroll.
5. 3 pcs. 2x2 ID picture.
**********
I haven't finished enrolling yet but this is what I can remember of those 3 years in UCC.
FOR OLD STUDENTS ONLY!!
1. Go to your DEPT. HEAD/ ADVISER. Provide an ADVISER's FORM which you can buy from the REGISTRAR or in some cases you can have this from your DEPT. HEAD already
just like in our dept. (Psychology) our grades are already computed and summarized in a small computerized sheet of paper which costs 5.00.
. Fill it up with your grades. Have your Dept. Head verify & sign it.
2. Go to the ACCOUNTING OFFICE - ASK for an ORDER of Payment.
you must have:
ID, Final exam permit, Registration form & the ADVISER's FORM.
3. Go to the CITY HALL - fall in line in the counter that accepts TUITION payments.
PAY the REQUIRED amount in the ORDER of PAYMENT
4. Go back to UCC
Look for the paying area for
a. insurance fee (in the clinic)
b. Supreme Studnet Council Fee - (40.00-at the SSC office)
c. The Crossroads (I'm not sure if we have this now-)
d. Organization Fee (depends on your dept.)
be sure to ask for the RECEIPTS.
This number 4 is optional. If you want to do it earlier no problem. As long as you have your ID or Registration Form.
5. Go to the MIS - (Management Information System)
bring/present:
a. Tuition Fee Receipt
b. Tution Fee Receipt PHOTOCOPY
c. Adviser's Form
d. all the RECEIPTS (SSC, Crossroads,Insurance)
when you're done here you should have the 3-copy registration form pink, white & blue. (first year) and cardboard like reg form.
6. Have your REG FORM signed by an authorized person (eg.Dept. Head, Sir Reyes, studnet assistant)
7. Go to the registrar & have your NEW registration forms STAMPED 'ENROLLED' & get your class cards.
****CONGRATULATIONS! You are now an official student. Welcome to UCC!
******
hope this helps fellow UCCian. If you have any corrections to this..feel free to msg me on te chat box or the commnet space provided below.

Ang Bagong Kwaderno

Oh kay sarap magsulat sa BAGONG NOTEBOOK.

Mabango.

Malinis.

Walang bahid dungis.

Bagong..uniform, sapatos, bag, ballpen

..at BAGONG NOTEBOOK..

lahat bago.

Enrollment Days in UCC

Londg queues are usual scenes in UCC during the month of May. The month of ENROLLMENT.

..students sweat...complain...fall in line..meet friends/classmates.

along with the hardship...we make sure to get something to relax for. That's where we now make "kupits"

student A: "nakamagkano ka?"

student B: secret. Tara SM tayo!

hahha..that's true..I'm sure a lot of us do that.
But not me.

Fortunately that day WE were only scheduled to pay our ORG FEE (Psych Society-40.00 + adviser's form 5.00 = 45.00). And we're accomodated in an airconditioned room.

I got to meet some of my friends..and classmates.

This is the scene in the registrar.

there's Vheia..(GIB - gay in blue.badly wanted to be in the pic)

here..you'll see parents waiting in line too.

my classsmates.
Soon...the classes wil start... are you READY for another CHALLENGE UCCian??

Are you ready to strut your new shoes, bags, and uniform??

then let's go!

To whom this may concern:

Calling the school ADMIN or SSC
A guest from this BLOG complained about the CR's in Camarin.
here's what he/she has to say:

UCC, tatlong oras akong
nagtiis, ihing-ihing na ako during the exam.
-by GUEST 2010-05-17 4:06 AM
Kawawa naman ang examinee na to. I'm sure it affected his/her exam performance somehow.
Yes, this has been a problem for quite along time now...
pero I think only 2 are functional.
Let's HOPE & PRAY this NEED will be addressed SOON.
BUT
UCCians..let's also REMEMBER that we should know how to maintain & observe the CLEANLINESS of the facilities given to US. We also have a role to make this possible.
Huwag sana tayong maging SALAULA.

How your FACEBOOK, TWITTER, FRIENDSTER affects Your EMPLOYMENT chances.

No college student of this generation is 'unaware' of the social networking sites FACEBOOK & TWITTER.

Of course this is normal. We (?.hehe), the young generation yearns for a group to belong, a group of people who will accept us, a group we can identify ourselves as a member.

We use it to get updates from our orgs, friends, long lost relatives, families & circle of friends..sometime we also use it to boast of what we have..like a new cellphone, a new boyfriend or girlfriend, a new experience & etc. In short these networking sites do a lot of wonders that we enjoy generously.

But do you know my dear UCCians.. especially to the graduating students that these networking sites we enjoy every minute might also be a cause of an UNEMPLOYMENT??

YES! That's highly possible!

There have been cases recently shared by experts that most employers now resort to researching in these networking sites about their prospective employees. Calling your CHARACTER REFERENCES is one and another is this.

So if you are for instance projecting a very serious image on your job application..but your Friendster, Facebook or Twitter accounts BELIE it then the employer might have a doubt. Thus reducing your chance of getting that dream job!

Think of it my friend. Don't just prepare your suit & tie for the interview, your winsome resume, your impressive credentials...also gear up your social networking account.

What You Can Do About This Possible Problem??

this is according to : TRABAHO Phils.

So, the next time you post an online profile on one of these
sites, remember to:

1. Set your profile viewing settings so that only friends
can view it. Or you might want to reset which information you want others
including friends to view.

2. If ever you wish to make it public, you should be
careful of what you type and what pictures you upload.

3, Avoid inviting friends who you don’t know.

4. Invite only people you know.

5. When you post, think long term.

6. With these in mind, you’ll be able to control your
profile in social networking sites and make sure to build up your character
through them.

7. This is because you won’t be able to control who sees your
profile unless you make necessary steps. This is definitely a good tip when
you’re job hunting.

SO beware!
if you have any trouble resetting your view setting try to google it or maybe if I find the need to..I might save it for another post.

..alhough this is not UCCistas concern..share ko lang..

I've read that in UM or University of Mindanao...the graduating NURSING students...were required to take a MOCK board exam or any of that sort...it was a surprise test..out of 182 graduating students..only 7 passed. Those who FAILEd will not be ALLOWED to graduate.

Here's the message I read from KABATAAN PARTY LIST fb.

"UPDATE: Bad news for all the graduating student nurses of the University of Mindanao. Without consultation, the UM admin suddenly implemented a compulsory mock board exam and those who will fail will not be allowed to graduate. Here's the catch, only 7 out of 182 graduating students passed the exam."

what the ****???

..just a while ago..while I was in front of the REGISTRAR's office...I eavesdropped...unwittingly on the conversation of ATE FLOR..and a MOTHER with her daughter who's a UCCian.

there was obviously a problem with the girl's subjects & grades..I'm not sure if she's graduating this coming..april 29.

what's the catch?? -- well guys we are already in our TERTIARY education. We are in COLLEGE..do we still have to bring our PARENTS...in those kinds of situation??..can't we just handle it ourselves?? my gosh grow up!

we make mistakes..we miss/fail exams ...we miss classes...that's forgivable. Coz we have weaknesses..BUT WE should also be RESPONSIBLE & ACOUNTABLE of the CONSEQUENCES that go with it. GROW UP! buti pa ang RUGRATS...may ALL GROWN up..series

---- Armanz...sometimes the purpose of an ad/tarpaulin/info ad/reminder is not to convey the message but to reveal that THERE is something done/being done/(that)will be done. It is an INDIRECT process of advertising about another subject matter.
Politics is everywhere.

If someone posted a trapaulin such as this..

Greeting a"HapPy Holidays" is not the 'real purpose..but making the 'person' known is.

I won't be surprised if one day..pati pagbati ng "HELLO" ay ipapaTARPAULIN din.
