The Association of Local Colleges and Universities or simply ALCU is composed of thirty-three (33) local colleges and universities of thePhilippines.^[1] ALCU is working closely with the Senate Committee on Education, which is headed by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, in legislations that benefit existing local colleges and universities.^[2][3]

The primary thrust of ALCU is to improve the quality of instruction, research, and extension of its member schools and to provide value public tertiary education, especially to the poor and disadvantaged youth.

The Association has created in the later part of 2003 the Commission on Accreditation, Inc., which is working closely with the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP).

During the investiture of Atty. Adel A. Tamano at the Justo Albert Auditorium of the PLM, he mentioned his plan of drafting the best-practices manual for local colleges and make it a project of the ALCU.^[4]

New Student Handbook!

after much hype caused by students

woaah!! at last we now have the much awaited students' handbook -- BUT ---

it's only available to 1st year to 3rd year students.

Too bad for seniors out there.

My batch has waited for this for more than 3 years..but we still ended up not possessing them.

well I see the point why!

at least may mga estudyante na nagpapahiram!

This is such a relief for me. At last from now on I can have concrete basis for any information I share to fellow & aspiring UCCians every time they have questions!

Entrance Requirements !!

[as stated on page 23 of the students' handbook]

1. The prospective enrollees must be a registered voter or a child of a voter in Caloocan City or a graduate of elementary & high school(public/private) in Caloocan City, or a child of a property owner/business tax payer in Caloocan.

2. Non-respective enrollees may be entertained only after all prospective enrollees have been admitted and that there are still slots available for them.

3. Prospective enrollee must have a general weighted average of 81% ; 85% and above for non prospective enrollees. Students with lower average may be entertained, if there are still slots available for them.

4. Entrance Examination is given to select enrollees from among those who had met the requirements in a,b & c.

5. After meeting the requirements in a,b, & c and passing the entrance examination, the enrollee must submit the other requirements for enrollment.
