The former American secretary of state Colin Powell has revealed that he spent 2½ hours vainly trying to persuade President George W Bush not to invade Iraq and believes today’s conflict cannot be resolved by US forces.
Oh, really? How's that measure up against the time he spent trying to persuade, with distressing success, members of the US House and Senate to support the invasion? Or the time he spent trying to get the UN to go along? Or the time he spent collecting his check and logging his support for the war and Bush's, ahem, "re-election"?
The pathetic hack is brought down by his cowardly acquiescence and now he's looking for what? Sympathy? Forgiveness? Some strange kind of post-hoc credit for opposing the war he sold?
Screw him.
