Book Week 18 | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!
It's Sue Plumb here with my latest design team project for you. Today I am sharing an 8.5x11" mixed media scrapbook layout I created to document some photos of my daughter from last year. These were taken when her school was doing a book character parade to celebrate Book Week.

To create my page I first decided where my photos were going to be placed, then painted a quick background using Dina Wakley acrylic paints. Once the paint was dry, I added my stamping using black StazOn ink.

At the top of my page I used the This Book Belongs To: stamp, adding it twice, then once again below my photos. I then added the Chevron Banner and Triangle Banner, so they would adjoin each of my photos and help create flow across the page.

At the bottom of my page, I added the Be Adorable quote stamp (which is filled with sentiments that I absolutely love that are very appropriate for my daughter).

I then added a few papery layers to go under my photos. First, I stamped a pair of paint sample cards with the Library Return Card stamp. I love using these cards in my layering, as it makes it so easy to coordinate colours and they are free from my local hardware store.

I also added some book paper, a paper doily, washi tape, frayed gauze and some black cord into my layers before sticking the photos on top.

For my title, I used Cocoa Vanilla Studio alphabet stickers, then stamped the "18" using the Grunge 1 and Grunge 8 stamps.

After that, it was simply a matter of adding some quick journaling with a felt pen and I was done. I couldn't believe how quickly this page came together - I love it when things just fall into place!
Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this, I hope I have inspired you to get inky too!

Stamps used:
Grunge 1

Other materials:
- white cardstock
- Dina Wakley Media acrylic paints
- Tsukineko StazOn ink
- paint sample cards
- assorted collage materials (as mentioned above)
- Cocoa Vanilla Studio alphabet stickers

Art Journal: Be True. Be You. - by Cheetarah

Hi all, it's Cheetarah here and I'm glad to be back with you today to show you an art journal page I made with some lush VLVS! rubber stamps and spring time inspired colors. My main image is this gorgeous Whimsical Lady designed by Mary Vogel Lozinak and the Be Adorable text stamp. A full list of stamps is at the bottom of the post.

I first started off with coloring a piece of 6x4 inch water color paper with Ecoline in orange and Magenta. Then took a squared stencil and dabbed some mixed Golden Phthalo green with Paper Artsy Hint of Mint paints through it with a make -up sponge. Then stamped squiggly star collage on the left with Staz-On cherry pink and colored that in with ZIG Wink of Stella golden yellow so it stands out with a sparkle! I also randomly stamped the star stamp on various places as well as some other mixed media stamps.

The sentiment was stamped with Memento tuxedo black on a separate piece of paper which was covered in Dylusions sprays in magenta green and turquoise. I then cut the sentiment out in strips and chose the above layout for them. The lady was also stamped on watercolor paper and colored with tombows and blended with a water brush. I wanted the phrases to have a "tumbling down" effect and that she walked over the last phrase.

I also stamped "Be True." sentiment on the watercolor paper and adhered that to the left side over the star. On the "Be adorable" stamp you have the phrase "be young" and I just cut off the "ng" to have it say "Be You" and I love text stamps because they are versatile this way :) Lastly spattered some Liquitex INKS! in bronze and white over the page as well as the phthalo green/mint mixture. I darkened the edges with a purple distress crayon. Matted it on yellow card stock and is ready to be adhered to my art journal.

No matter what anyone says you are supposed to be, be true to yourself.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Clean and Simple Card

Hi everyone.
This is my last post for the Viva Las VegaStamps! Blog. I love the versatility of the stamps. Today I'd like to share a clean and simple card.

I used Distress Inks (Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers) for the watercolor background. Both stamps, the Be adorable and the Boy in Cape, are from Plate 918. I stamped the Boy with Memento Luxe Danube Blue. The Be Adoreable was stamped with StazOn Jet Black ink.

Dream Big - ATB Tutorial

Hi my dear Viva Las VegaStamps! Friends.
I am totally a mixed media fan and I always incorporate my mood or something I want to say when I am creating. Dream Big is a mixed media Artist Trading Block (ATB) that should visualize my creative mojo. I am full of ideas (see the big head) and this does not stop! It would be great if the day would have 48hours or if I'd have six arms!
The ATB base is cut with the Silhouette Cameo. Of course you don't need a cutting machine to build a cube. You will find templates online to cut one by hand or you can use a die with your cutting machine.
I used the gorgeous Whimsical Moon Face and Whimsical Beetle Man stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps! as my main images.

Here are the step by step instructions:

1. Prepare your stuff. Cut the blank of the block. Emboss some black cardstock with an embossing folder of your choice. Stamp your main images and the acetate with StazOn Jet Black Ink.

2. Add Turquoise Iridescent Creative Medium with a palette knife and a stencil to the side of the cube that will be the top. You can use any other texture paste. I like the shimmer of the Creative Medium.
Tip: Use some washi tape to mask the border and to adhere the stencil to your working surface.

3. Use the Gold Metallic Creative Medium with a make up sponge and rub it onto your embossed cardstock. You can also use PanPastels metallic colors. Cut out four squares which have the same size as an area of your ATB and adhere them to it's sides.

4. Color your main images. I used my Memento Luxe inks. You can use any other ink. E.g. Distress Inks or watercolor pencils. Add some highlights with the Irresistible Pico Embellishers. I used them for the bugs feet, the white dots in the moon's face and the stars on it's top.

5. Cut the gears from kraft cardstock and give them some gold glamour with the Gold Metallic Creative Medium.

6. Build everything together and add the sentiment. I stamped it with StazOn Jet Black ink and cut it with a banner die. Use a cutter to make two slots to glue in the gears. Adhere the transparency sheet with some Miracle Tape to the back.

Artist Trading Block - Tutorial

Hi my dear Viva Las Vegastamps! Friends!

It's Susanne here and I have a tutorial for this Artist Trading Block (ATB) for you. I cut the base of the ATB with the Silhouette Cameo. Of course you don't need an e-cutter. You'll find free templates for a cube online or you can use a cutting die.

Here are my instructions:

1. Step: Stamp the Dictionary Page background randomly onto the cube blank.

2. Step: Add a thin layer of gesso on top.

3. Step: Use the Gelato (Cotton Candy) to add some color. Instead of the Gelatos you can also use other watercolor crayons. A plus of the Gelatos is, that you can blend them easily with your fingers.

4. Step: Add a second layer of texture with the Worn Clockface stamp.

5: Step: Take the white Gelato in this step to give the background some more contrast.

6. Step: Now it's time for some structure. I used modeling paste together with a crackle stencil.

7. Step: When the texture paste is dry you can build up the ATB base.

8. Step: Stamp the The Fish in Mini Skirt and the Fat Fish in Heels and cut them out. Add some Twinklings H2O for a shimmery effect (alternatively you can use other shimmery colors). Adhere a wooden spear to the fishes with hot glue. I colored the spears  with Viva Decor Inka Gold. Before you add the fishes to the block, cover the whole top with Gel Medium and glitter.
9. Step: Add glitter to the edges as well. I used chipboard die cutted numbers and letters for the embellishing. The chipboard is painted with different colors of Viva Decor Inka Gold and stamped with the Be adorable stamp to add some texture. Some more embellishments are the Pylon and the One Way Small . Use some silver tinsel to finish it up.

See you soon and happy crafting, Susanne.
