No Evil in a Pound of Rubber

I'm sure there are those of you out there that look at the pound of rubber and think that that can't be anything "good" in it. I'm here to tell you that there is "no evil" in a pound of rubber! That is EXACTLY where I found these jewels!! This set of three fun chimpanzees representing the addage See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil was in my pound of rubber!!
Chimpanzee Set 3 - 1 3/4 x 2

I will not lie there were some stamps that I know I will never use and I have passed them on to fellow stampers who love them more than I ever will. The amount of stamps in there that I L O V E though, at least $50 worth or more. Give a pound of rubber a chance, you will see that there is no evil in a pound of deeply etched red-rubber goodness...it's pure happiness!  I hope you enjoy my Tangled Trading-card Trio! Have a super Saturday~ leslierahye

2 cards with 1 stamp

This week I made two cards using one main image. I got the stamped image of the Senior Ladies in my pound of rubber. Love them. So many sentiments you can use with them! I made 2 cards with them! I already had the card bases done a long time ago.

I stamped these lovely ladies on white cardstock with Black versafine ink pad. My versafine ink pad is so juicy that I was able to pour the Ultra high gloss clear embossing powder on them and have it stick. Took the heat gun to it. I used Prismacolor pencils to colored them in I know you can't really see it in the pictures, because of the lighting, but my youtube video I did it shows a little better.

After I colored them I took a Qtip and Goo Gone and blended all the coloring. Its a cheap way to blend if you can't afford or get mineral spirits. I got two bottles that are 3 ounces at Dollar Tree a long time ago. It last a really long time. I don't think I'm a quarter into the bottle. You just take your Qtip and dip into the bottle and just brush it on where you colored.

This card I use the Sentiment "All my life I've wanted to be somebody. Now I realize I should have been more specific". Like I said I did the card bases months and months ago.  Its a white cardstock base. On a piece of scrap black cardstock I then took some scraps of basic Gray out of print collection and put that over the black.  Attached to the white card base. Stamped the sentiment on white and attached everything with Miracle tape

This card is a Kraft cardstock base and a scrap of Retro Mod stack from DCWV. The sentiment I used for this one is  "A new body for $1.87. Who wants a new body for an old one."

Products used:
craft cardstock
white cardstock
black cardstock
decorative scrapbook papers
black versafine ink pad

A Dog of a Different Color

Recently I've had need for some cards for my friends with pets. Viva Las Vegastamps! has over 2500 animal stamps--many breeds of dogs and cats are represented--including some amazing sayings to go with them. This wonderful dalmatian stamp, bone, and sentiments came in a pound of rubber that I ordered and are perfect for these projects. I paired them with a whimsical Mary Vogel Lozinak flower background and created two quirky cards. They will brighten my friends' day and I hope they bring a smile to your day as well!
For these projects you will need:

foam squares
ribbon & silk flowers
Black Dye Ink and Spring Collection Distress Colors
versamark watermark pad & chalk
The bone was stamped on a thing strip with Versamark and then dusted with the Purple Pearl Mixer. The sentiment was stamped on a piece of white and Miracle Tape was used to adhere the pieces together. The foam squares were used to raise the strip up just enough to catch the easel.
The background was 2nd generation stamped using the flower background and the spring collection Distress Inks--a second generation stamping occurs when you stamp your image off once and then then second time. I love the pale ink showing through the stamped Dalmatian. For the scarf, I used the same ribbon as was attached across the card with Miracle Tape. I tied a not and then zapped the ribbon with the heat tool to melt the ribbon and make it crinkle.  Sakura Hobby Crafts 3D Crystal Lacquer was added to the eyes and nose to give them a real doggy gloss!

I loved the look of the flowers showing through the dog...I wanted to take it a bit further and I had this fun paw print ribbon in purple that would be perfect.

This time I stamped the flower background just once to get more vibrate colors. I once again stamped the dalmatian in black and then chalked my dog purple for a dog "of a different color" and added some Distress Ink dies to white flowers and stamped the sentiment on a small piece of card stock. The flowers were added to the sentiment with Miracle Tape. Again the eyes and nose were glossed with Crystal Lacquer.

Don't forget that this month's challenge is FLOWERS--you could win a $25 gift certificate to be used in the store.

Enough is enough......

NEVER!!!!

That's exactly what I say about any and all of my crafting supplies.
Especially my rubber stamps.

The place to shop for rubber stamps is

They have some of the most awesome and unusual you will ever come across.
Click on the link and check them out....

Meanwhile, back at the studio I have created a little masterpiece....
This is like seeing double for me....
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

I had this framed mirror that was a purchase from Ikea.  It was solid black and I wanted to give it more pizzazz.  I painted chevron stripes with acrylic paint.....
Here's a tip on how to get perfect chevron stripes.

while it was drying I stamped the Topsy glasses lady (#4651), bursting through (#3108), and the 'too many stamps' sentiment (#3903) on white cardstock.
I colored them using colored pencils and OMS (odorless mineral spirits) blended with a paper stump. I also added some crystal lacquer to her glasses.
I then cut out the center of the 'bursting through' stamp and placed the topsy glasses lady in  the bottom half to look like she's 'bursting' with craziness for more rubbah!!!!
Matting the sentiment with some black cardstock and placing them catty corner of each other.  I also added a few stick-on jewels. and ta--daaaaaa!!!

These are the colors of my studio....I'll hang this near my rubber stamp shelf.  Well, until I have to make the shelf bigger to add more 'rubbah'.......

Until later, rubbah enthusiasts.......Gotta straighten my glasses split.....TFL!!!!!!

VIva Las Vegastamps! and Stretching Your Stamp Dollars!

There are at least six ways to make your stamp dollars go further at Viva Las Vegastamps! First, if you like unmounted stamps, purchase acrylic blocks and buy unmounted rubber.
Couldn't do a post without a birthday card or two for Terri!!

Second, you could buy a Pound o' Rubber!  YES, a whole POUND!  It is a grab bag and you don’t know what you are going to get.  For the price you sure get a BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.  You have to be willing to gamble a little... I have gotten 4 grab bags and have only had 3 duplicate stamps.  I am addicted to grab bags!!!  If you want to start out small there several sizes of grab bags to choose from!
Third, watch for pre-orders on the Viva Las Vegastamps! online store.  There is usually something that you can pre-order and get a substantial savings.  Sign up for the news letter to get the latest news!
The fourth, is what I am going to share with you today.  That is using the same image with different sayings!  Find an image that is versatile, like the Easy Dog Rider, then look for sayings that will work with that image. If you are on a budget when you start your stamp collection and you aren’t a gambler  this may be the way to go!
All stamps in the samples are from Viva Las Vegastamps! All images were stamped with Stewart Superior Memories Black Ink and heat embossed with VLVS! Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder... a little color was added to the images with COPICS.  All papers are scraps from my stash!
Stamps:
The fifth, is to check out the Plates o’ Rubber... worth the price for the number of stamps.  These are two of my favorites that I purchased last month!
This is one of the latest Steampunk plates (#1378)!!!

The sixth way to make your stamp dollars go further
is join the monthly challenge...
there is still time this month.
This month the theme is "BIRTHDAY"
