    Operation Ir-Ricky Freedom
Filed under Posted by — RW @ 8:52 pm Edit This

With all the cable & network channels having their experts in tow, I thought that NGD should follow suit (if you can’t be a leader, at least be a follower!), so this site will now be advised on war
matters by Colonel Tyler Ingus (with apologies to SNL’s takeoff).

I think he’s renowned globally, but around these parts pretty much everyone knows and loves Colonel Ingus, the famous soldier from Fort Stewart, so he’ll give the ins & outs, the ups & downs as
well as the view from above and sometimes below, while all this plays out.  Although I’m told that his friends call him Mister Tyler, it’s proper etiquette to refer to him by his rank, so Colonel Ingus will be the handle I’ll use.

I’ll try to get an interview with him as soon as everything is in place (with kids, a job & extended family around, it’s sometimes difficult to get the logistics straight).  However, I can
promise that I’ll get as much Colonel Ingus on record as I can and as soon as possible….you can bank on that.

Peoria Pundit nails it when discussing some folks in congress who are hedging their bets on this war:

They say they support the troops. But to them, support begins and ends with saying the words support as many times as possible, without really doing it. In fact, there are some
who want nothing more than for this war to end with Bush wounded politically. There is nothing patriotic about that, because for that to happen, the interests of the United States will have to
    suffer.

Their ideological kin are those who carry signs urging U.S. soldiers to kill their officers. The notable exception in Sen. Lieberman.

I’d add in Evan Bayh and John Edwards to the mix of notable donks expressing their REAL support.

Perusing the left side of the blogosphere (do I owe Quick royalties for typing that?) I noted several sites that would easily pass for the official blogs of Chuck Rangel, Al Jazerra or Wesley
Clark, so there are plenty to go along with the ideological kinship noted.  A lot of stuff that’s out there falls outside simple disagreement over policy, but a glint of hope for something
negative, because it could effect Bush.

Great job, Bill….and I’m counting the days until that ‘blogspot’ part is gone from the URL (I’m sure you’ve never heard that one before). :)

Computer geek post of the day

    Worthless html for the masses…

There are plenty of times where I’ll visit a site & they’ll have a link (or I’ll click on their blogroll) and it opens the URL within the same browser window.  That may be how you set things
up & that’s fine, but more than once I’ve clicked on a link within the FIRST post of a blog, which took me to another page, where I found another link and moved onward & so on & so on…

Pretty soon, after I’d finished reading the subject matter, I often forget where I began in the first place & may have missed some important stuff on your blog.  Well, no, I can’t lie…I read
my blogroll every three days or so, most of them daily.  But, you get my gist.  Maybe some folks have missed out on more than a few entries at your site, or I visited YOUR site via a link &
    inadvertently left with another click.

With that in mind, here’s all you have to do to insure that all your links open in new windows & your page stays intact, until the user actually chooses that they’re ready to close it altogether or
    click something in their bookmarks:

Just put that before the of your blog/site & you’re good to go.  Nothing else is necessary.

—Also, if you have an MT site & your entire main index page doesn’t load all the way, forcing users to hit "F11" twice, just put this at the bottom of your index code, right before your

    tag:

    From Neal Cavuto:

A week ago Wednesday night the war started and ever since I’ve heard tons of complaints about what we started.

Let me tell you what I see:

    •
I see coalition forces within 50 miles of Baghdad.

    •
I see them controlling two-thirds of a country the size of California.

    •
I see angry Iraqi civilians turning on their own duplicitous soldiers.

    •
I see children getting candy and adults water.

    •
I see the image of U.S. prisoners not scaring our soldiers, but emboldening them.

    •
I see clarity over sandstorms and truth over treachery.

    •
I see countries that mocked us worming their way into life in Iraq after us.

    •
I see second-guessing from wannabe generals who couldn’t be more clueless and senseless name-calling from countries who couldn’t be more hapless.

    •
I see people without guts criticizing those who are giving their guts.

    •
I see people who’ve never known a day of battle pontificating on what we should do in battle.

    •
I see Iraqis daring to dream of the democracy they were refused to have and some treacherous Iraqi neighbors fearing the very same democracy they refused to offer.

    •
I see more countries jumping on our bandwagon and others desperate to be on any bandwagon.

    •
I see leaders of countries still condemning us, but investors in those countries still investing in us.

    •
I see markets that will go up and economies that will improve because I see a coalition of the willing, teaching a thing or two to a collection of the pathetic.

    •
I see prisoners and soldiers alike who will come home and a nation who will greet them with open arms and sincere hugs.

    •
I see a hard battle but a great victory.

    •
I see past the sum of our fears, to the whole of our greatness.

    •
And finally I see a great nation defined by the good things it does and not the bad things others say.

    •
I see those who will call me just another Yankee Doodle Dandy.

And I see this very grateful journalist more than happy to say, damn right.

It’s sometimes difficult to miss the big picture when watching 24 hour news that focuses on the negative.

It seems like daily we’re hearing about some idiot executive who decides to try to put his personal stamp on something by changing what was already working.  This time, we have some upper management idiots who have decided that
Skip Caray & Pete Van Wieren no longer will be on TBS:

TBS Superstation, which Ted Turner built into cable’s most-watched network partly by convincing viewers nationwide to adopt the Braves as "America’s Team," has
decided to reposition its telecasts this season as "MLB on TBS" rather than "Braves on TBS." Viewers surely will detect that the Braves still appear in all of the games. But TBS will try to make the broadcasts more generic by
focusing equally on both teams, removing the Braves’ logo from the screen—and removing Caray and Van Wieren from the booth.

    Brilliant.

That moron just chicked his career.  Dollars to donuts he’s a yankee without a clue as to what those two have meant to the Braves fans for the last 28 years.

    Chicked –  (ch[i^]kd),

    1.  making a decision that is so roundly panned for its idiocy that it ends up being one of the worst choices in that person’s life.

There’s too much bad news out there.  Consider this my pathetic attempt to put something other than the sad reports and bitching back and forth into the discussion, if only for a few minutes.  Besides, it’s America’s game.

...if you’re a Republican in Georgia who ran on no tax hikes

    Perdue’s tobacco tax hike defeated

"The Georgia House handed Gov. Sonny Perdue a resounding defeat Wednesday on his plan to raise tobacco taxes, leaving state leaders wondering how to fill a budget gap that could reach $1
    billion."

Sonny’s going over like Zell Miller did in 1990, when he won a close election & immediately managed to piss off just about everyone with fee hikes after pledging no tax hikes (see, a ‘fee’ isn’t a tax – or so we were told).

It’s beginning to look like Schultz was right & Barnes is regrettably starting to resemble his old Democrat-ic self.

Then again, look at how Zell ended up…
