The National Endowment for the Arts announced 21 grants totaling $1.5 million for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Michigan on Wednesday. Today's grants represent the bulk of the agency's grants for the year and bring Michigan's total for 2012 to nearly $1.9 million.

Pontiac's Reunion Nightclub will be playing host Saturday to the Red Party 2012, an event that will help raise money for this year's Ferndale Pride celebration. "Major Barbara" is one of playwright-social reformer George Bernard Shaw's most biting and preachy works. Long tracts of ideological dialogue sometimes make the 1905 play feel more like a political debate than a laugh-out-loud comedy.
