Anniversary Roses and Wedding Wishes

Hello there, readers!  I hope it's warming up in your neck of the woods.  It was nice here this week, but today was quite chilly.  Hoping for some fair weather next week as I will have some time off and need to get some walking in before the 5K on Saturday.

I was able to a complete of cards using Imagine That's Wedding Day set today.

On both, I have used Colorbok designer paper from the Rosewood pack.  I got this last Christmas from my son, and I thought it went well with the lovely wedding couple image.  I also used some papers from Imagine That's Romance Set 1 digi papers, Spellbinders ovals and lacy ovals, some roses and ribbon.

Doesn't this romantic couple make such a lovely card?!  I just love that Kris created this one for us.  :)

Cute as can Bee!

Hello readers, crafters and friends!! :)

This card tonight was truly inspired by Kris' Bees Knees digi set (from which I used the background papers), and then I had an image printed for the Flat Friends challenge that I had started last night and realized I forgot that it had to be folded twice ... well, anyway, here is my submission for both Flat Friends Challenge - "More than One Fold" this month and the DigiSketch Challenge
(both sketch and theme - Glitter It!)

^This one shows the glitter better on her wings

What started out as a gate fold turned more into an easel card, as the front panels kept getting bigger as I planned it.  I have used some scraps from the background papers on the inside as well.  This will be sent to a young friend who is going through a rough patch right now.  I hope it brightens her day.

So, leave me a comment or two letting me know what you think.  I would love to stop by your blog too and take a peek if you have played along with either of these sketches, be sure to leave me a note.

Sketch, Challenges, Scraps and Reorganization

I am in the process of reorganizing my new space in the basement a little bit this weekend, and found some images that were already colored that I decided to use.  The first card is created with the Tuesday Morning Sketch (TMS138) for this week's challenge, and it uses an older stamp set called "Need it All," which I believe was from C.C. Designs (been a while, so not positive).  This was colored with prismacolor pencils and highlighted with a C1 copic.  The edges are sponged with pink so it didn't blend in too much since it was all white.  The bright light on my desk seemed to wash out the photo a bit though, as natural lighting is poor today (rainy and dreary here in PA).

The background DPs are from BasicGrey June Bug collection.  The extra layer behind made with Top Note die cut from Stampin Up was reused from a clear envelope given to me by a friend and way too pretty to throw out, so I repurposed it.  I know it's not really on the sketch, but I just had to use it behind these ovals, so I tweaked it a little.  The ribbon is from Stampin Up as well.

The second card was actually colored today with my Copics, and first off, I want to say that I am not an expert at coloring hair with Copics.  I definitely need more practice on that.  Also, you can't use white cardstock that absorbs the Copics like I did here, as I forgot it wasn't glossy.  A good cardstock to use for Copics is glossy white from SU or Gina K's glossy paper (which I typically use) or Neenah Classic Crest Solar White or Copic Sketchbook.  Check out Marianne's Info on this

Anyway, this card was actually created originally at the weekend workshop at my neighbor's home, and I hadn't stamped the Hello, Doily image well, and it was blotchy.  It is only seen partially on the card on the upper right.  I wanted to show you how you can still salvage an "oops."  I covered up the doily image at the bottom still allowing a little bit to show through, used some primas and an image in the center for a Get Well or Thinking of You type of card.  Not my best work, but I have definitely saved the card for a nice note to a friend letting him/her know that I am thinking of them. :)  The image is from C. C. Designs - Springtime Set (stamps I purchased quite a while back), but they still have the digis available at All That Scraps if you are interested.

Eighteen years and counting

Well, it has been 18 years and counting for my parent's anniversary.  Yes, he's my stepfather, but not too many people realize that.  I was often told how much I looked like him when I was younger (and still have similar tastes in some things and freckled feet like he does, wierd huh?).  Well, they definitely have come a long way, and this is one of my favorite photos of them.

So, I stressed for quite a while on Saturday about what stamp should I use for their card and would I have time to make one before I had to leave at 6 p.m. to go up to their farm for shearing day (that was Sunday, hence the alpaca photos below).  Then I looked through the SCS gallery and found some inspiration but still couldn' t decide on the perfect image to go along with it, so . . .

I ended up not using an image at all.  I used the d'vine swirls folder for the Bermuda Bay cs and then Textile folder on the white piece.  I then sponged Taken with Teal on that piece to color it a little and make the embossing folder part show up.  Then I used my Flourishes sentiment stamp set for the Your Anniversary part cut out of a piece with one of the ribbon tag trio dies, and added some Prima ivory roses and half pearls.  My parents both liked it and the pretty poems I added to the inside (with thanks again to the authors of the Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Card).

Little Lazarus after shearing -- you should've seen all that fleece
he had on him.  They were all happy to be cooler! :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you enjoyed the photos!

Card Challenge at KL SNS this week!!

Hello there, Readers and Friends!

We are having another GREAT challenge over at KL Stampin N Scrappin's design team blog!!  This week Jodi has challenged us to a card recipe (1 ribbon, 2 designer papers, and 3 embellishments).  I am hoping mine qualifies although I have three flowers and added a charm.  : ( Maybe we can count the two yellow flowers as the same embellishment just separated *wink*) lol

This little sweetie is Puppy Kiki currently available at KL Stampin N Scrappin from C. C. Designs.  I colored her with my Copics and then paper pieced the dress with some papers from Nook and Pantry by Basic Grey.  The teal plaid pattern in the background is from Nook and Pantry too.
The ribbon and yellow cs are so saffron from Stampin Up.

The pretty heart charm (which says "made with love") and Prima flowers can be found at my store as well, and if you stop by before Sunday morning, you can get one item at 40% off this week
during our May Super Sale
using code MSS40!!  So head on over there and check out the new arrivals and great stamps!!

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all of the mom's out there!

Hugs,
