My Mountain to Climb

I was asked last week to give a talk in church today.  When I said that I would do it, I was in shock.  Jeff fell off the couch to the ground and when Lexi asked him what he was doing, he told Lexi that they day I agreed to speak in church would be the day he died!  I got off the phone with Brother Griffiths and started to cry.  I have NEVER spoken in church so this was a frightening experience for me.  I felt very overwhelmed by the whole idea of it.  I got busy listening and re-listening to conference talks!
I feel like it ended up going pretty well.  When I got up to speak, I could not see clearly and I immediately started to cry; I was SO nervous.  I spoke on the talk by President Eyring titled "Mountains to Climb."  I had several people stop me afterward and tell me what a great job I did and how strong the spirit was.  I even got a few thank-you cards.  This has made me feel so good about my decision to say yes.

Jeff's First Day with Springville Fire Department

Jeff just got hired on with Springville Fire Department and today is his first day!  We are so excited for him.  It will be a part-time position, just what he needs to occupy more of his time.  He definitely loves what he does, so another job as a firefighter is perfect!  Congratulations Jeffe!

She's in Monticello, UTAH!!

We got the email from Ashley letting us know that she was being transferred to Monticello, Utah!  I find this to be very disturbing because all I want to do is drive down and check on her!!  Calm down people, I won't really be driving down.  We are happy for her and know that she is where she needs to be.  She will do great and be a positive person no matter where she is transferred.  We are definitely looking forward to her being home.   Only five more months and one week until she is going to be back home!!

She's heading to ..........

Sister Wise is heading to Flagstaff, Arizona!   I am sure she is happy to be going somewhere new and leaving Cortez behind for now.  It was time for her to be somewhere new since she had been in Cortez for about seven months.  She serves to the fullest no matter where she is placed; however, I think it will renew her spirit to be going somewhere new!   Flagstaff is beautiful and I really believe she will love it there.  We are so proud of you Ash (Sister Wise)!

New Years Eve

I did not get one picture of this night! It was one of those nights where you realize you have moved on in life and New Years Eve is less important than it used to be. Jeff, Alexis and myself did a little shopping in the afternoon and went out to eat to Rubios. Lexi then went to her friend Darin's house for a party. Jeff and I played some games with Aaron and Kim, and watched Crazy, Stupid Love until after midnight! We did fit in a kiss right at midnight while the neighbors were lighting off their fireworks. If this is any indication of what 2012 is going to bring, it should be a quiet year!
Hoping that 2012 is going to be a great year for me and my family. I have some goals already set for myself and cannot wait to get started on those. We are all looking forward to Ashley coming home in September/October. Can't wait to see what this new year brings to all of us.

First day of 9th Grade!

Alexis is beginning her 9th Grade school year. It is hard to believe that our baby is a freshman. She is a really great student and is very excited to begin the school year. She is happy with all of her classes and is looking forward to Seminary and hoping to get in the honors orchestra class. I know she will do very well this year in all areas. We are very proud of her!

ULCER 2011

Jeff and I signed up to do another year of the ULCER!  This year we rode with Kate, Jill and Steve.  It was a VERY hot day with a lot of wind.  This was probably one of the hardest things I've completed.  This was Jill and Steve's first year riding in the ULCER.  They were amazing.  Jill suffered from the heat as well, but completed the whole 111 miles!!  Kate, Steve and Jeff were the machines this year.  They kept us going when we really didn't want to.  It was fun to ride with everybody, but I could have done without the extreme heat!  Thanks again everybody for a fun ride; as fun a ride as it could be!!

Jeff and I right before the race!  This is my jersey that Ashley got me for my Birthday.

Jill, Nicole, and Kate -  My best friends!

Nice face Steve!!

Lexi's first ride!

For Lexi's 14th Birthday, she got a new road bike. She was SO excited! I must say, Jeff and I were just as excited as she was! Jeff and I love to get out on our bikes and are happy that Lexi will be able to get out on the road with us. She is one lucky teen!

For her Birthday, Lexi also got a cut and color for her hair,
a manicure,
and a pedicure!

Lexi went out on her first big ride with Jill, Kate and myself yesterday (7/2/11). We went 32 miles and Lexi did VERY well. There were a few hills and steep ones to boot. She was amazing and a couple of times, she was ahead of us old ladies! I think she is an amazing rider.

This is a picture of her ahead of us - I am trying to take the picture while riding my bike.
Here is Lexi taking a break!
