Easter Colors

Hi blogging friends,

I have slowly been adding some fresh spring decorations around the house.

The next couple of days will be chilly, but it makes me enjoy the spring colors even more.

Keeping things simple and sweet ...

The name of the hyacinth is derived from Greek language where it means 'flower of rain'.  It is also mentioned as the 'sorrow flower' and 'In memory of Hyacinthus' (who is a divine hero from the Greek mythology), symbolizing dying and the resurrecting beauty of Nature.

Easter wouldn't be complete without some bunnies and treats!

Which do you prefer strawberry cheesecake, bubblegum or cotton candy?

or a little chocolate ...

I hope your Easter is filled with sweetness!  Blessings to you  :-)

Love ...

Love is in the air ... can you feel it?  Tonight I am sharing with you some of my Valentine's Day decorations.  Remember the cute Valentines we use to bring home from elementary school?

A sweet Valentine basket holds a pink embossed dish filled with ornaments.

This scalloped edge mirror is the perfect centerpiece for rose scented candles.

I just love sparkly things ...

Reflections from the glass jars  :-)

The wrought iron mirror in the parlor decorated with dangling hearts.

In my travels I found these mercury ornaments with crystal encrusted tops.

My favorite lantern has been decorated in roses.

I created a candle ring from a rose garland.

This little birdie is a sure sign that spring will soon be on its way!

A string of vintage hearts dangles across a faux whitewashed window.

This romantic wreath created from silk organza fabric.

The roses are book pages edged with ink.

Some candles, roses and white lights dress up the cabinet.

I always look forward to decorating for Valentine's Day.  The shades of pink brighten the cold winter days.  I hope you will stop back tomorrow to enter my giveaway.

Stay warm my friends!

Lovin' Chalk Paint

Hi everyone,

Today I have a little paint project to share with you.  We all know how wonderful Annie Sloan's chalk paint is so I decided to paint this cherub candle holder.  Although, I adore the style of this holder I wasn't too crazy about the gold distressing.  I wanted something a little more subtle.
It started like this ...

I applied one coat of Old White and then was able to reapply a second coat in about an hour.  Here is what it looked like after two coats.

Using a soft rag I sparingly applied dark wax for a more weathered look.  Voila ... I was finished!  I love the way it turned out.

Soft and dreamy ...

I added a garland of cottage roses.

Which do you prefer the before or after?  Don't worry you won't hurt my feelings ...lol.  Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been up to.

Vintage Mother of Pearl

Sharing with you some of my latest finds ...

These beautiful mother of pearl pieces really dress up the table and add a touch of elegance.

Pearl handled flatware was very popular from the late 1800's to the 1920's.

The sterling cuffs have a traditional fleur-de-lis motif.

I love how they reflect the light.

This sweet pink basket was a garage sale find.  Pink depression glass is one of my favorites.

A pretty reflection of a rose ...

This Kernewek Goonhavern cup from Cornwall, England also makes a gorgeous vase for flowers.

Do you have any pretty mother of pearl items?  I don't think it ever goes out of style!

Breakfast in Bed

Both my husband and I have been feeling 'under the weather' lately.  First, he had the nasty summer cold thing going on and then he gave it to me - thanks honey!

I thought we could use a little breakfast in bed and some time with each other  :-)

Simple croissants and fresh fruit to nosh.

Who doesn't love a Mimosa once in a while!

Ahhh ... the scent of freshly brewed coffee.

When was the last time you had breakfast in bed?

Enjoy your weekend everyone!  Thanks for stopping by.

French Violets

The violets have been holding their place in the garden.

I can never resist picking a few to bring indoors.

On top of a vintage altered book is the perfect place to display them.

Painted in cottage white and adorned with a French decoupage.
