October 28, 2020 (La Mesa) – Applications are now being accepted for the newly created Community Police Oversight Board (“CPOB”). The deadline for submission of applications is 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2020, in the City Clerk’s office at La Mesa City Hall, 8130 Allison Avenue. Applications may be obtained at City Hall or from the City of La Mesa website.
The CPOB will provide recommendations to the Chief of Police, Mayor, City Council, and City Manager on the La Mesa Police Department procedures and policies and on matters of public safety within the City. The CPOB will consist of an 11 member panel (must be residents of the City of La Mesa) as follows:

Plus, we’ll have a preview of coming attractions including an East County Youth Symphony Concert, El Cajon’s Veterans Day ceremony, Santee’s holiday lighting ceremony, the Mother Goose Parade and Holiday Lights on Main in El Cajon, It’s a Wonderful Life radio play in Santee, Tony Orlando at Sycuan, La Mesa’s Holidays in the Village, and Leann Rimes in concert at Viejas.

Plus we’ll have previews of coming attractions, including some activities to start off the New Year, from a guided mountain bike ride with a ranger at Mission Trails to the opening of trout season at Santee Lakes, as well as live music featuring some hot local talent.

May 25, 2012 (San Diego’s East County) – Jamul resident Heather Berner is among those to be honored by Sharp HealthCare Foundation’s 2012 Victories of Spirit event. The event, which honors extraordinary individuals and community organizations for their inspirational achievements and contributions to others, will be held on Friday, June 1 at 6 p.m. at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego.

Turns out, trading-in the chemicals and expensive cleaning products for a little know-how will yield the same sparkling results without releasing potentially damaging toxins into the air, giving you more time to smell the flowers over the ammonia.
