June 25, 2013 (City Heights) – Skateboarders in City Heights will soon be able to enjoy recreation at a Mini-Park and Skate Plaza. The site, designed as a safe place for families to enjoy outdoor activities, will also include a tot lot, playground, turf area and plaza with games, landscaping and trees. Construction will begin in October 2014 with completion due in November 2015.
The total site is slightly less than two-thirds of an acre, with the skate plaza 0.145 acre. A design phase will include community outreach and input.

September 25, 2012 -- California State Parks (CSP) invites you to the first public meeting for the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park General Plan.The primary purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for the general public to voice their hopes and concerns about the future of this special park. June 11, 2012 (Lemon Grove) -- Construction is set to begin next month on the highly-anticipated Main Street Promenade Redevelopment Project in Lemon Grove. The public is invited to join regional public officials for the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, July 19 at 3:00 p.m. on the 3500 block of Main Street, just north of Broadway.

May 30, 2012 (Palomar) -- It's official! Palomar Mountain State Park, which was slated for complete and permanent closure this July, will be permitted to stay open for the next three years as long as local citizens are willing to cover the deficit between the park's income and expenses. Palomar was one of 70 parks destined for shuttering due to state financial woes.

Existing Water Contact Closure for Border Field Park and Tijuana Sloughs to Remain
April 25, 2012 (Tijuana, Mexico) -- An estimated 2 million gallon sewage spill occurred yesterday in Mexico. The spill, which was caused by a broken sewer line in Rio Alamar drainage, started 12:00 PM and ended at 12:00 AM midnight yesterday. None of the sewage was recovered so all of it flowed into the Tijuana River.
