November 6, 2022 (Pine Valley) -- Expect traffic delays if you’re driving between Alpine and Pine Valley for the foreseeable future. Caltrans construction crews working on the Interstate 8 pavement replacement and road improvement project from Viejas Creek to Pine Valley will be reconfiguring the lane reductions through the construction site. Instead of two construction closures, crews will taper traffic into one single closure, taking motorists from three lanes to one for approximately three miles through the construction site, beginning the week of November 7.

February 25, 2022 (San Diego) – By a 3-2 vote, San Diego County Supervisors approved a Working Families Ordinance on Feb. 8. The measure requires payment of prevailing wages and use of a skilled, trained workforce on construction projects over $1 million on county lands. It also brings sick leave requirements in line with state standards.
A second reading is set for March 1st. if approved then, it will go into effect 30 days later on new contracts or projects up for renewal.

August 1, 2018 (Jamul) - The Jamul Indian Village broke ground Tuesday on road improvements at the intersection of Lyons Valley Road and Campo Road. The Tribe marked the occasion with a groundbreaking ceremony that included Jamul Tribal Council members.The improvements are part of the Jamul Indian Village’s $3.7 million commitment to the County of San Diego for improvements to county roadways.

February 19, 2013 (Santee)--Motorists will have to be cautious along Magnolia Avenue and Mast Boulevard for the next several months because of a major construction project by San Diego Gas & Electric. Crews will be replacing wood and steel poles with galvanized steel and concrete poles.
The project footprint will span 11 miles from the utility’s Sycamore substation to the Santee substation near Mast Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue. According to the City of Santee’s website, the infrastructure upgrades are necessary to service the expansion of the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility and to improve power circuit stability.

The Independent Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (ICBOC) monitors the expenditures of voter-approved bond proceeds that are providing financing for a number of capital improvement construction projects at the hospital in La Mesa. Its members are East County residents with experience in project management, construction operations, finance and healthcare industries.

May 24, 2012 (San Diego)--Antonio and Africa have lived in this house for twelve years. It is the only home their four children have ever known. Antonio bought the house from Africa’s father in 2005. When faced with difficult financial hardship due to the crashed economy and medical bills, they went to their lender to negotiate in good faith.
Antonio works in construction and Africa has a business she runs from her home office. They were late on just one mortgage payment by 60 days, and ultimately made the payment. They learned there were government programs like the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) andthe Principal Reduction Alternative (PRA).

Griffin Center marks end of major Prop. R-funded construction projects
February 5, 2012 (El Cajon) – After 18 months of remodeling and construction, the Grossmont College student center has reopened, instantly becoming a lively hub of activity. And, no wonder. With meeting rooms for student groups, ample comfortable seating for dining, lounging or study, easy access to a career center and other student services, as well as a 10-foot screen in the lobby for watching movies, four food stations, and a mini-market, a transformation has taken place to rival any extreme makeover on reality TV.

Prior to joining Cumming, Murray served as Program Planning Coordinator for San Diego’s Grossmont Union High School District.
