Wonderful salad. I had a cucumber in the vegetable crisper that I...ummm...forgot about and it had gotten a tad soft. The ice water bath really brought it "back to life."! I always cut a cucumber in half and scoop out the seeds with a spoon before using in a salad. Other than that, perfect salad in my book!

oh my goodness, my stomach just dropped! when I was a little girl (2 or 3) we got a Cocker Spaniel and named him Dixie. Unfortunately we had to give him up and though I know he went to a good home it was still a soft spot for me... I know this is not foodie related but I had to share b/c yours reminded me of him so.

    Hey dixiemom
You say your a wine taster. Right there we have something
in common. We make wine. We have a wineyard on the side of our
home in which we have about 80 plants.Mostly French Hybreads.(sp) We make grape, apple & rhubarb. My favorite it the rhubarb
which we call "RUB" Our apple is called"EVE" & our two grape
wines, A Chardonnay & a Rose (pronounced Rosa). When our son got
marriedlast year our apple was was called "CANA"
When it comes to bottling time our basement smells like a
    WINERY"
I don't know what the weather is like there, but here it's
been COOL. We are getting much needed rain, but we all wish
it would warm up just a little bit.
Gotta get some work done around here. I'm a housewife & have been for 40 yrs.
Have a great day & God Bless
