miles from Vladivostok across Russia and Europe to Fatima. Devotion to Our Lady under this title is common to Orthodox and Catholic in central Europe and Russia, so this is an ecumenical venture. Unlike conventional ecumenism, based on the lowest common denominator (don't mention the saints! don't mention Mary! don't mention the English martyrs! keep religious art out of it!) this is based on something highly distinctive, important, and true, which Catholics have in common with the Orthodox, who are displaying great
energy and resourcefulness in combating a problem which we have here, but which is in fact even worse in post-Soviet Russia: abortion and the destruction of the family.
The icon has now been through Russia and Poland, and is heading this way: it
arrives in Great Britain.
